Is it just me...or was everyone ready to put MadCatz at the upper echelon for these sticks?? Now everyone is realizing they're MadCatz still. Is that fair to say? or are these sticks really living up to their hype

Yeah after hearing about this washer issue a couple of days ago I decided to cancel my preorder at amazon and I ordered a HRAP3 instead. After seeing a lot more reports about the issue since then I'm glad I made that move.

yeah, i canceled my SE 360 stick from the gameshark store. I have a death smiles stick preordered for the 360 so I'll just wait for that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that amazon comes through with the ps3 TE preorders, i'll just use my vshg until it ships :/

For those of you asking about symptoms of the "washer" issue just check out the video that was posted at Giant Bomb. Shows you exactly what happens when you're playing (your joystick will get "stuck" in a direction when it's supposed to be in neutral) and he shows you what the washer looks like.

Even if you're not a big joystick user you should notice that something is messed up when you use it.

I think everyone was pulling for them to get this right, because nobody else was willing to pick up the torch for US gamers with the sticks and Saturn-like controllers.

However good the engineering is, however, Mad Catz has always had shitty manufacturing and QA. In my industry, if we had a "washer-like" problem with our stuff, we would be sued out of business in about 3 weeks. Mad Catz makes toys, true, but when you're charging $80 or $150 for a piece people expect tool-grade instead of toy-grade workmanship.

I'll take a chance with a $40 Mad Catz pad this week (for the Genesis Collection), but there's a very good reason I put my ~$100 down on a Hori stick. I've bought Mad Catz stuff in the past that has been absolutely horrid.

Funny thing is my stick wasn't getting stuck that much like the dude's in the video :\ Something just felt a little off,and I figured I was modding it anyway so I decided open it up and get familiar with the parts and to see how easy the process was going to be.

Honestly I was a little shocked at how f-ed up the PCB was since I wasn't having the really bad sticking issues.

I just got my SE stick today and had the chance to play HDR with it for about an hour.

Maybe it's just me since I've done the majority of my SF playing on pads for around 12 years, but I for the life of me can't get my special moves out correctly. Two in ones are even harder. More practice or fubar stick?

lol was digging through stuff in my parents garage the other day and found my old Capcom Fighter Power Stick for the SNES/NES. If only there was a way to get it to work with the 360 for SF4...wait it sucked never mind.

Wow, mine was sticking within the first few minutes of use. I thought it had to get worn in or something haha, even though I've never experienced that with any of my other sticks.

You weren't lying about that mounting plate. I have no chance of getting those screws out. The gate was pretty annoying too. Wasn't too bad after I put the flat head in the proper position but there was one stubborn tab that was irritating the hell out of me.

I can't speak to the quality of the stick you got, but as somebody who doesn't use sticks a lot, it absolutely does take a bit of time before you get good with them. If you're used to a d-pad, it's a totally different world.

I want to kill the screws in the mounting plate,no way in hell to get all of them out.I'm not even touching them on the Sanwa stick,I'm just going to go through the gate and rotate the PCB that way.I'm not sure why the Lizard Lick website says you need to remove the plate,am I missing something? why bother taking the risk stripping screws. Also I had one tab too that gave me a hell of a time on the gate lol.No way to even get the gate off without using a flat head, wtf is that about :\

Still no sign from akihabarashop ;'( Does it take awhile for them to ship because they order factory direct? ;/

Yes, it does. They are not a shop for the impatient, or the time-sensitive. The owner waits until a certain order threshold is passed, then places an order with Sanwa/Seimitsu, then has to wait to get said order, then re-send it to his customers.

Ah thanks, that makes a lot more sense. I guess that means I'll have time to really understand why the Hori default buttons suck then, should make me appreciate them that much more lol

took about 3 weeks for me to get my parts after i ordered. well worth the wait knowing youre getting parts fresh off the production line from the source country.

Same here, I'm not bothering with the mounting plate on the Sanwa. I'll take the gate off and do it that way. I stripped a screw on the SE plate in seconds haha.

Yeek. I ended up canceling my SE order after reading this and realizing I'd basically be paying $80 for a stick shell. Add the buttons, the button hole covers, and JLF, and the HRAP Ex ends up being a better deal.

I got the bestbuy code too...Ugh

The SE stick, I'm pretty disappointed with. It seems like the stick has trouble going back to the neutral position and often gets stuck.

So I just got the Madcatz SE Fightstick and so far everything's been good, but I was just wondering how can you tell if your joystick messed up without opening the fightstick.

does the lever stay in one position?

Really? Wow. I canceled my preorder today because a few things came up and I needed the money, it's a good thing I did, then.

Sorry MarkMan, it was something that came out of left field, I needed the money...

If you mean that it springs back to the middle then yeah it does. This is the first time I've owned a stick so please forgive me I don't get a couple of things.

Do VSHGs play nice with SF4?

I'm aware i would have to reassign the buttons in the option menu, but I'm referring to 3+ inputs like Ultras.
I know in HD Remix it's tough as hell for me to pull off Akuma's teleport with it, but if I plug the same VSHG into my computer I can pull off the same move in 3S easily.

Holy shit that Giant Bomb video is hillarious. Well, it looks like its the TE stick or bust for me. The HRAP 3 is a good alternative too right??

Does anyone know where I can get a high res version of the image these guys used in their sticks?
I tried asking at srk, but got a "read the thread" type of answer so I did re-read the thread i was looking at and there was no help and it looks like they're having server issues at the moment. I'd PM someone over there but i'm too new to do that.

Alright, I watched that Giant Bomb video and I have a question. I don't know anything about the inside of sticks mind you, so maybe this is a stupid question since I'm not sure on parts and such.

But anyway, based on his video all he wanted to do was glue the washer in place, simple enough. Due to how difficult it is to get that part taken apart though, could you not simply put four little solder points around the outside of the washer? Nothing higher than the washer's height, but do the edges around the washer need to be perfectly clear? Or also just get a small tip super glue bottle and put superglue around the outside edge of the washer?

so are there any drivers for the new madcatz sticks yet
The drivers should install automatically if you have Windows Vista. For XP I believe you have to download the 360 Controller drivers online. I can't seem to find the Microsoft page for it.

Thanks man, I guess I'll just try and look for them.

does anyone know of a guide or have the time to explain how to best print out and apply stick art to a HRAP3?

I've been googling, but haven't found anything quickly. thanks in advance!

they seem to be having server problems at the moment, but they have an hrap3 template you can download and open in photoshop and drop your art in. from what i've read kinko's has a service called lamilabel or something like that where they'll print your art template, laminate it and put glue on the other side basically turnning it into a glossy sticker.

I just checked right now and it still says 3/1/09 for me... but I did get that email with that $20 coupon code.

Same thing here. I pray I still get it shipped on 3/1 this time. Anyone know any place that will be getting restocks in March I can order the 360 TE from in case BB.com fails?

Anyone with the TE stick having any problems? The moment I see an inkling of a problem, this thing is canceled so fast...

You know -- I haven't had any sticking problems with my SE fightstick, but this is beginning to scare the shit out of me. So some of you are saying that the washer still damages the board even if you don't have 'sticking' problems?

I guess I'll return it and pick up the HRAP 3 at my local playntrade.

Fuckin madcatz. And the stock sawna joystick should be a plus too since I don't want to deal with the hassle of modding.

Goe SE my TE and SE today. The TE is awesome. Feels great and I like the case design. The SE isn't too bad but I don't like the feel of the stick or buttons. I'm gonna swap them out this week and throw on some custom artwork. I really like the case and compactness of the SE. Can someone point me to a tutorial for changing artwork on the SE?

Overall, I'm happy with both products. The TE is just as good as many of the custom sticks I have and have played on.

The joysticks on the TE, as you know, are official 100% Sanwa. If they would have a problem like this it would be 1 in a million, Japanese QC is ridiculous.
