You know the name of that converter? I have one that is black, but in the same shape, called Super Dual Box Pro and my HRAP1 works flawlessly on PC with it.. however, the second port has never worked, I get conflicting inputs between P1 & P2.

It was just loose when I bought it, but I found another picture of what appears to be it in the original packaging.

damn, I'm gonna cry soon.

I have a very difficult dime doing super moves in SF4 from the player 1 starting position (facing right). double QCF moves in particular. I can do them with ease from the P2 position, but am extremely inconsistent from the P1 position. I'd say I'm 90% from the P2 position, and about 20% from the P1 side. wtf. I know it's not the stick, because I'm 98% in throwing fireballs from either side.

maybe it's my hand position? how do you guys hold your ball-tops?

Got my HRAP EX today from Amazon and love it. However, the plastic film that goes over the top plate is all kinds of stuck under the buttons and metal screws on the side. Am I going to have to open it up and punch out the buttons and parts to gets these bits out or is there an easier way?

I've tried it like that and continue to have the problem. It's so frustrating right now because it's so easy for me to do double QCF when facing left. but facing right? only about ~60% of the time...if I'm deliberately trying to do it.

facing left, though, I can put the double QCF special at the end of any combo effortlessly.

*sigh*

Edit: no, I hold it exactly like your second picture.

Nice to see most of the TE/SE stick issues officially addressed by Mad Catz. Coincidentally, I was going to call them, today, regarding the turbo function not working in PS3 HDR, but I was too late. Then, I read this thread, and saw Mark's post. The only thing not mentioned, is the spotty compatibility with the PS3 sticks on PCs. Hopefully, that will also be addressed, even if it just means a driver release. However, despite unofficial forum posts stating PC-compatibility, the sticks were never advertised to, officially, work on PCs, so I can understand if that never gets addressed, officially.

That said, after using the TE stick for the past couple of weeks, I don't think I would've been satisfied with the HRAP3. The only thing the HRAP3 has over the Mad Catz sticks, is BC with PS2 games on PS3. However, I greatly prefer using the outer, straight, 6-button layout on the TE. The inner 6 layout is too cramped, for me. The rainbow layout of the HRAP3 would suck, to me. The earlier HRAPs had better layouts, IMO.

Amazon just shipped my SFIV:CE, today, and once I get that, I probably won't be playing much of any other fighter, for a while. But if I do feel the need to play my PS2 fighters, and there is still no word on a PS2 BC update, for the TE stick, then I'll just get another stick. The niceties of the TE stick is too good to give up, just for PS2 BC on PS3. All IMHO, of course.

I haven't used the SE stick, but it mirrors the TE on features, minus the casing and Sanwa parts. So, it also seems to be a well-designed stick. It's just unfortunate it has engineering problems, in stock form.

Thanks for the updates, MarkMan, and kudos on the awesome TE stick!

oh ok. So I put in SFIV and used my HRAP3 (with sanwa buttons :D ) Love the game. Love the stick. I kinda suck at pulling off moves. Now I understand most of it is probably my skill, but would I better serve myself with an octagonal gate??

Got my TE stick at my Gamestop store the other day. I haven't bought a joystick since the Dreamcast days because they were usually so expensive and I would question the quality of the product compared to a real joystick. As someone who plays a lot of arcade and fighting games this stick was worth the wait and every penny. I can can pull off consecutive fireballs without fail and even Guile's SF IV super combo without any trouble. If I were to have any complaints it's that I prefer a bat stick instead of a ball and the buttons can be overly sensitive at times.

Also I cannot get the stick recognized by MAME. I downloaded the drivers from Microsoft and the computer recognizes it and the inputs I make on it, but MAME doesn't notice it what so ever. Any suggestions?

It's funny, I have the exact problem but the other directions. Hopefully we'll get it in time!

If you're new to sticks you're going to suck regardless of what gate you have.

I'm sorry, but that MadCatz PR is carefully worded BS. Sure, it does not happen in all sticks, but does that eliminate the possibility that it could or will in the future? If it doesn't happen in all of them, why not? Is there a difference in how the how the washer is being held in some of them or are they all designed the same?

Their statement that it "has been reported on a small number of units", is meaningless. Regardless of if reported, if the design flaw is inherent to all models, it has the possibility of happening to all of them, and in the worst case after the 90-day warranty expires.

Unless MadCatz can honestly say that not all the washers are similarly secured, they are all inherently faulty.

That's what I am scared of, what if it happens like a couple of months after the warranty =/

ahhhh yessss... but would i suck less with a certain gate? :D
I wouldn't think so. Modding is overrated for new users like us.

Last night was the first time I used a stick since Tekken 2 in arcades. Tonight I can proudly say I suck less than the yesterday. It's just an adjustment.

So GAF,

I've never really played with sticks before. I never really played in arcades either. In fact, I've barely played any fighters up until recently. I want to get a stick but the prices are pretty damn high on a lot the commonly suggested sticks. I live up in Canadaland so everything is a bit more expensive here as well. What's a good stick for beginner, and does anyone know the best retailers to buy such sticks in Canada?

might want to go with the fightpad. will be an easier adjustment and the fightpads are really great.

I don't know who would really care about my fairly stock HRAP3 but I am posting my shots anyway. Sorry about the crappy iphone quality but i lost my camera snowboarding last month.

It's just a HRAP3 with seimitsu buttons and a new ball top. My first stick and I had a blast even doing that small mod.

:D

Are the seimitsu buttons screw in's????

I got my SE FightStick today. I was wondering if I should use it or just keep it in its box. My HRAP EX should be coming in tomorrow. One more night with the FightPad shouldn't be too bad.

The button sizes for the HRAP3 are 30mm for the main buttons and 24mm for the Start/Select? Do I got that right?

BudokaiMR2 said:
Yes the new ones are seimitsu screw-ins

Looking at my HRAP3 here, the square and circle buttons look precariously close together. Did you have any problems with the screw-ins being wider underneath?

on one of my SF4 SE Fight sticks for 360 the bottom right Black button wouldn't work. I'd press it and nothing would happen, anyone else have a broken button out of the box?

I just ordered the HRAP EX for 360 today and it will be my first stick. Also ordered some sanwa buttons from lizardlick to go along with it. I'm fucking pumped I'm getting a competent controller to use and not the shitty pad. So when I lose, I'll just blame lag instead of the controller :lol

Does anyone mind giving me the status of the TE sticks from Amazon? Mine still looks like its due to come in stock Monday but I was wondering if anyone knows if that will be true...

I searched for HRAP EX in Amazon and I got a bunch of porn. Not that I'm complaining but that's not really the kind of stick I wanted.

Well, looks like they're sold out on Amazon anyway (unless you want to pay $300). I guess I'll have to wait until the manufacturers ship more sticks. I'm kind of disappointed by that aspect of the SFIV launch.

Damn, I just ordered a Hori Ex Pro, I don't trust Madcatz with their warranty, so I'm going to return my SE stick to gamestop once it comes tomorrow.

I got my SE fightstick, it's crap. Joystick sticks, buttons register double-presses or no-press at times. I'm gutting it. The housing and base seem solid, and people make homebrew sticks out of MadCatz PCBs all the time. It should be fine with better parts, and there's really no other mod-friendly housing out there on the market that's so 360-friendly with the guide button and headphone jack.

I'm having the exact same problem :'(. I thought it was the stick itself as this is my first stick and all(HRAP EX). I guess I'll try to practice more, but still.

Nah the screw piece is pretty thin on the seimitsu so it was a piece of cake. I think I read somewhere that sanwa screw ins take more work to get put in?

Also, for those of you looking for TEs... Hang in there, more are on the way.

Retailers will continue to get shipments until all the preorders are fulfilled. The sticks are limited yes, but everyone that preordered one should be able to get one if they wait. Don't pay insane prices on ebay, just wait.

Look for shipments by the end of March through mid April.

Went from "early March" to end of March - mid April now? Jebus.

how durable is the stock hrap3? I just got it and my brother plays like a fucking maniac, throws the stick with his body

So now it is the end of March? and not the first week like retailers are telling most preorders? I wouldnt mind the wait as much if there was more honesty upfront. I would have just ordered something else and not bother preordering early. Most people knew after the insane amount of preorders a lot of people were going to get shut out with the first shipment. There is going to a lot more pissed off people come the first of March with no stick, and then they are told to wait even longer till the end of March.

The HRAP3 is very sturdy.

The bolt/nut that keeps the top panel in place is pretty weak compared to past HRAP sticks, but other than that, it is very sturdy and reliable.

yea, very nice and it can take some abuse if you go nuts from a frustrating match.

What tools do I need to open up a HRAP EX? I'm expecting mine sometime by the end of this week so I want to make sure I have everything before it arrives.
