Does using an octagonal gate increase the deadzone on the stick? I feel like I have to move it more now to get the moves to come out. The movements are easier to do, but I feel I have to be more deliberate with them than I was on the square gate. Seems weird. I think I will do the JLF Ultimate Mod to get the smaller deadzone while keeping the preferable feeling of the oct gate.

When did you place your order? I ordered a PS3 TE stick, back in December, and like others, Amazon says it's shipping soon. I ordered another one, when Amazon put up the 2nd listing in January, after the initial preorders sold-out, and that one still shows as "not yet shipped".

I ordered mine jan 8th

Mine was 30th of December, still says expected shipping date: Feb 25th. I hope that's when they go out...

I got the EX2 for 360 right now and it's annoying me that the ultras,3k,or 3p moves are tough to pull off.

I wanted to get the SE stick but heard about problems with a square gate not being conducive to circular moves. I'm thinking Hori Real Arcade Pro EX now?

Try and stick with the EX2 and use it a little more before you decide whether or not you want to buy another stick. I'm currently using an EX2 and I have no problems doing any of those moves or any others. The components don't quite feel as nice as Sanwa and the stick won't last as long as one with those parts, but in terms of execution, it shouldn't really hold you back.

I wanted to order a HRAP3 on Amazon but it looks like they're only being sold by outside parties for $130 + shipping. Amazon needs to hurry up and restock so I can get that sweet $100 price with the free shipping.

I work at an establishment that has a big arcade.......I wonder if I can order some sort of stick solution through the tech department.......

My TE is due to me tomorrow as well :)

Cant wait... glad Amazon came thru.

Stick experts: any recommendations on double HCF motions on a stick? I am sucking on my EX2 stick... dont know if I will be better on the TE.

Does anyone remember that old ps1 fight stick made by ascii? Grey with turbos and slow motion. well, i using it i found it better than my homemade happ=(. Stick is quick but the buttons feel to soft. it feels better than my dreamcast green monster.

Heh, add me to the Jan. 8th ordering party. Mine should arrive tomorrow since I had the Prime trial. Nice change from the Feb. 25th date of the past few weeks. :D

Only difference is mine hasn't changed status, congrats though. :lol

Ordered on Dec 21. My order status better change soon. So far, a Dec 22 & Jan 8 are getting one. Guess, "1st come 1st serve" doesn't apply here.

It sounds simple, but just think of a "Z" motion (Or a backwards "Z" if you're on the right). If you concentrate on making the "Z" and just finish by mashing into the corner of the square gate then it should come out easily.

Honestly, I always find it surprising that people have trouble with DP motions when they get a stick with a square gate. When I was first learning with a Japanese stick I had much more trouble with the QCF for fireballs than I did with the DP motions.

Z motions = f,d,f or b,d,b

I prefer this over making a actual Z shaped motion because it's not always 100% accurate

Nice, mYm|17|. Hopefully, that also means everyone else who ordered on the same date will be getting their sticks soon, too. I'm sure you guys will love 'em. I'm loving mine even more, each day. Too bad I don't get SFIV 'til tomorrow, though. People in the other thread already have 500 matches!

Haha, yeah that's way too much. If it wasn't for work, then I'd probably be up there as well. :lol

Anyway, I'm still awaiting my PS3 TE from my B&M Gamestop who said it'd be in by the end of the month... I've already ordered an LS-32-01 and some pretty translucent Seimitsu buttons for it. :D

I didn't like the se stick at first bc the stick was mushy. But I played the crap outta sfiv today and I think I "broke it in". The stick is actually very playable now! I still plan to replace the parts tho.

Is the home button suppose to light up or no?

there's a shortcut you can do that I like to use while I'm crouch blocking and need to pull off a reversal shoryu. Quickly slide the stick to DF, D, DF and you can shoryuken like that. Also, for all the square gate haters, Zangief's SPD is still easy to do with the shortcut anyway :D

edit: holy shit I read that wrong :lol

You don't need to go D, you can just go DF, DF+punch.
It's a shortcut they put in for SF4.

How difficult is it to mod a HARP3 to work on the 360 as well as the PS3???
Anyone know where to locate a walkthrough for the process, if its even possible?

Finally opened my FS SE stick to glue the washer down, replace the buttons and plug the right most buttons. I must say the stick feels a lot looser now. Probably because the washer isn't "following" the stick anymore and not causing any friction. I ordered a Sanwa stick but I'll just keep that as a backup. I'm having no issues with the stock stick and kinda like how it feels currently.

wish I had pics. I absolutely love my stick that everyone loathes.:D

By the way, I ordered my PS3 TE stick in mid January (after the reopened preorders) and got the shipping soon status last night.

Replace the stick with the Sanwa and keep the stock one as back up. The feel of a Sanwa stick is just...awesome.

Thanks. I'm not quite the stick conoisseur so I don't know if I can tell the difference. I can pull off moves just fine and no accidental jumps. I honestly can't even tell the difference between the Sanwa and stock buttons. I feel like I just switched to better colors (I used orange buttons). I did switch the ball top to bat just because that's what I'm used to in the arcades back in the day.

I know it must be blasphemy...but is it possible to put a Happ joystick into the FS SE?

...I like the bat top :-x

I don't think the HAPP will fit.. I'm new to all of this, but you can buy an adapter for the sanwa to get a bat top on it from Lizardlick.. the adapter is like $ .50 and the bat top is $4.95

After being underwhelmed by the arcade sticks/pads available in my area, I've decided to build my own. I've already ordered some Sanwa parts, as well as a cheap Mad Catz GameStick (for the PCB). All I need now is a housing, which I hope to get from Norris Arcade Sticks when they restock. I really don't have the tools or expertise to build a nice housing.

http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/joysticks.shtml

That page has bat tops for Sanwa sticks. Maybe it'll solve your problem.

No Happ, eh?

Well, a Sanwa with the bat top looks to be precisely what the doctor ordered! I wish the Sanwa sticks had the same kind of "resistance" that Happs do, but whatever.

Now I gotta pick out some buttons. Probably can't use Happ buttons either, I'd imagine...so gonna go with some Sanwas (unless I can use some of those cool-looking clear buttons from Seimitsu).

Mod a Seimitsu lever into your FSSE
It's compatible with the Sanwa Teardrop-style top if you use the same adapter.

?

Hmm...so let's say I was going to buy parts to mod my FSSE along these lines from Lizardlick. What parts should I be getting, exactly? It appears that I'm going to be using all Seimitsu parts so I can get the ideal stick resistance and the clear buttons. Will I still be able to use a bat top?

A question for Seimitsu users. The LS-33 I've heard has a softer spring compared to other Seimitsu sticks but you can spring mod it with the LS-56's harder spring. How does a LS-33 with spring mod compare to the LS-32?

Anyone ordering a X360 TE after Dec 21 got their shipping status changed?

www.gamesmen.com.au - search for The Tank. Sure, it's really only Happ controls (joystick, concave buttons) into a solid-as-fuck base, but when it's done for you, can you really complain? $200AU (plus shipping) is a steal for this stick. Seriously.

Raiden plays like a goddamn dream :D

Edit: AFAIK, there's no way you'll get Happ anything into a FS:EX. Everything needs to be deeper, which is where you need to start looking at something else entirely. See my link above to "The Tank" :)

Okay, so I am set up to mod my Fightstick SE.

I am going to make a Ryu-themed stick, so I am getting:

1x Seimitsu LS-32-01 Joystick w/Sanwa adapter and red bat top
6x Seimitsu PS-14-KN red skeleton pushbuttons (for the Jab/Strong/Fierce and Short/Medium/Roundhouse buttons)
2x Seimitsu PS-14-KN white skeleton pushbuttons (for the last button in each row)

Now, I was also interested in giving the stick an octagonal restrictor plate, and in making sure the tension was as close to Happ hard as possible. Thus, I have two more questions:

1. Can I use the Seimitsu LS-56 octagonal restrictor with the LS-32 in my Fightstick SE to give it an octagonal restrictor?

2. I understand you can mod the LS-32 with an LS-56 spring to increase tension...is that true as well?

Let me know; I'm gonna put my order in at Lizardlick today, and post pics of my mod when it's done!

I preordered two PS3 TE sticks from Game Crazy back at the beginning of February and they still have not received them. Although they have gotten the 360 TE sticks.

They assured me all preorders for the sticks are guaranteed. They better be telling the truth.

Just to jump into the bat-top discussion...

I think I'm giving up on my Sanwa bat top for my VSHG, I'm finding myself struggling to find a comfortable finger position when pulling off moves in SF4...I'm noticing my hand is just shifting around everywhere and uncomfortably =P Went back to the ball top, it feels much better and comfy for me...go figure.

I'm also switching between the octo-gate and the stock square gate to see what works best for me but haven't decided which one to stay with yet. Though I do find myself stuck at down/back at times when I just want to move back when I use the square gate.

That said, my gift to GAF: first PM to me asking for my black Sawna LB-30-N bat top (with JLF/JLW-TM-8 joystick adapter) gets it for free! :D

edit: winnar is captmcblack

*hugs his new EX2*
Ireland didn't get any of the MadCatz stuff so Gamestop ordered some (a tiny amount, 1/2 per store) EX2s. Lots of demand (surprisingly or un-surprisingly), lucky to have gotten the only one.
