Question:

Based on past experience, were you guys able to bring over old arcade stick from previous generation to the next generation of hardware?

I am not a hardcore fighting fan, but I want to buy a stick. However, I don't want to buy an expensive stick only for one game. It would be nice if I can bring it over to next generation of hardware.

I modded one Hori Wii stick with all-Sanwa parts and am in the process of modding a second one with all-Seimitsu parts. If you have any questions about the mod and steps/tools needed, pose them here, or send me a PM, I'd be happy to help you out. It's not too difficult, provided you have the right tools and the patience to get it all done right.

Here's the Sanwa mod I did:

I am wanting to do this with an EX2, which from what I read has a very similar case. Regarding the stick, what did you have to modify to get it in? also is that a JLF you are using there?

I'm a very sad panda today because I was foolish and didn't fix my SE fightstick when I had the chance. I first encountered the "sticking" problem on wednesday, but I didn't think it was a very big issue at first. It was pretty easy to get the washer back in place with a little 360 motion here and there and get back to business, so I ignored the issue and kept playing more and more SFIV.

Don't make the same mistake I did GAF! If you are the DIY type (and you are comfortable with all the things that opening up your stick entails, namely, possible warranty voiding), fix your washer as soon as you find the problem! I thought I had more time, but today my stick stopped registering left movement completely. I figured it was finally time to break out the crazy glue, but it was too late - my PCB was ruined.

This is really only a temporary setback for me since I was planning on modding the thing anyway - but I had planned to wait a little while before making the order. Anyway, learn from my mistake, if you're going to fix it yourself - fix it early! Don't end up stickless with all the hard trials still unlocked.

Wow that sucks. Could you put some solder to connect the breaks on the PCB line? Wondering if that would work for a temporary solution till your stuff arrives.

Would you be better off getting a usb one? Or making one yourself? Depends on what systems you will be using it for.

Wow you did the exact same thing I did. :lol

I shrugged it off and eventually all left movement stopped registering. Still waiting on my Lizardlick order, which I ordered last Saturday.

Mine shipped yesterday and I ordered the same day as you.He posted something in the SRK forums about orders that haven't gone out yet have been placed in a back order pile if you ordered something and he sold out of it or it wasn't in stock...

Some info from his post.....

"So how are we handling this? Well, to be honest, it's a little over-whelming, but we're plugging away... To begin with, this is how we are dealing with all the orders: We work on orders in the order that they came in, so if you did your order last Friday night at say, 6 pm, when we had shelves full of stock, you should have your parts right now. If you had a back-order in the system last week, you should also have it by now (this pertains to domestic customers). We did not ship Saturday last week because we were just buried alive in orders, and Monday was a holiday, so that didn't really help.

Those of you who have shopped with us before know that if we are out of an item, you get one of our 'order update' emails letting you know about it. Unfortunately, we have many back-orders right now, and it would literally take an entire day to send you all emails regarding them, so chances are you will not get one, hence the '2-weeks behind' replies some of you may have gotten to your order inquires. 2-weeks is a worst-case scenario, and really applies to customers that have been back-ordered, because we have more stock on the way and hope that we will be able to fill those orders next week when it arrives.

So, what about the in-stock items? When we're working a stack of orders, the first thing we do is look over the order to see if there are out of stock items on it. If there are, we set it in the back-order pile and move on to the next one. This would explain why 2 people that placed orders on the same day might not both get them at the same time. This way we can at least get the parts we have in stock out to our customers as quickly as possible.
"

Hey purg3,you ordered a yellow sanwa ball or bat top? I ordered the yellow ball top with my JLF and yellow buttons and that would suck if they don't match :(

guess im going to have to just wait to order a stick huh? crap man. i didnt think EVERY stick would skyrocket on EVERY site (except fighting stick 3)

I ordered the bat top. It's a very light yellow. Honestly, it probably doesn't look too bad but I'm a very picky person.

Yup. That's the one you need to get. That's what I used for my Amazon HRAP until I switched out to a Seimitsu LS-56 stick.

Sweet, I can't wait till it arrives (EMS FTW). I also ordered some white buttons to the start/select.

I'm sure this has been answered but it'd be hard to find..

I want the Hori Ex 2 --- is it sold in any retail stores? I tried target, best buy, gamestop, frys, walmart, got nothing.

this is for 360

Hell, you could fix that with a conductive ink pen. Actually, that would the preferred way to fix it.

Actually, graphite pencil would do the trick, I've done that before.

Everything is sold out at the moment - it's a frenzy.

EDIT: Here's an EB/Gamestop link for the VF5 stick:
http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?Product_ID=42265

Put in your ZIP and it'll tell you if any stores near you have stock.

That's good advice! Unfortunately there isn't a decent electronics store nearby that would carry it, and the cost of one of those pens is roughly half of what it costs to get a new joystick anyway. Plus I already have a Fightpad so I'm not slumming it on the stock 360 controller. I just kind of have to ignore FADC-ing until my new stick arrives.

how are the madcatz arcade sticks for sf4???

IMO awesome. the base itself is better than any stick ive used. Even if you dont like the SE joystick and buttons. Which i didnt. Its worth the money to get the base alone and add your own.

So whats the best you can for a decent price??i see that there's two versions of the sf4 edition, the tournament edition is way too expensive. How's the normal edition?

Quick noobish question, what kind of stick does the TE have: 4 way, 8 way, octagonal ,square gate ... etc

I ask because whatever setup it has, is what I want to keep for any modding jobs I do in the future :D

I got my stick from Play.com in UK!

I never thought I'd get an European TE at launch but this beauty was waiting for me when I came back from Hong Kong today.

Lizard Lick sticks delayed to April WTF NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
dayum!

at least you didn't order from Video Game Central. My boy pre-ordered from there in December. apparently, they took 900 pre-orders for only 50 sticks. all payed up front. and they're basically drawing names out of a hat of 900 names to decide who gets the sticks (not even first come, first serve).

now that's some bull.

What a bunch of assholes. Who was that member who was hyping them up here and at CAG? levitysomething?

I ordered a Sawna JLF and some Sawna buttons OBSF 30 a few days ago.

Lizardlick makes the most ass-backward general fuck-tard statement in the world "Some" products "may be" delayed "up to" -2 weeks-

The fuck is this? And their follow up email doesn't actually tell you when they plan on shipping your shit out.

the parts I ordered aren't listed as sold out like some others are -- any word/experience on bad the situation is?

That and they charge a restocking fee for cancellations. Major douchebags.

.... order from a different fucking store if you don't like it. No one has had problems with Chad before there isn't anything to worry about now.

Has anyone ever gotten a stick from Arcade-In-A-Box?

That PS3/360 slim arcdae stick is calling to me for future tourneys, but I just wanted to know if anyone here has one or used one. Thanks.

They're great sticks, I've been lucky to visit the actual shop and some of the sticks I've seen there are incredible. They're a good size and good weight, the themes always seem to match the sticks.

Finally got the stick finished. Now I need to do some wiring to the live retro stick PCB I found and shes ready to roll.

If you get a ps1/2 stick then that's your best bet. There's a ps2 --> every console ever made adapter (except the 360) so odds are good it'll work with the next gen.

Now that's classy. I'm not usually one for a woodgrain finish, but with the Okami art I think they complement each other beautifully.

I have a question though - artwork buttons, how to you pull them off? Is there a special button that you can disassemble to put artwork inside? Or can you do that with any clear button?

Very nice. I'm a bit unsure about the buttons but it seems like a good enough fit. Great looking present; I'd love a stick like that.

Wow man, that's really great. Can I ask you how you do your custom artwork? Do you just find a template somewhere and place what I'm assuming is plexiglass of some sort over it? And would you happen to know where you could get a custom glass like that?
