Wow Ecto, that is a work of art on the Okami stick. Amazing stick.

In other news, I just found out my TE stick shipped yesterday!

Markman -

Just wanted to come in and say the TE stick is pretty damn amazing. This is coming from someone who owns a candy cab w/ Seimitsu parts, and a few other arcade sticks for various systems. It's by far the best console stick I've ever used, even rivals my Seimitsu setup. I honestly didn't think it would live up to the hype, but it did and then some. One of the best gaming investments I've made, hopefully I can carry it over to next gen systems.

On a side note, those of you who are frantically looking for sticks - keep looking. I have friends that came by to play that went from laughing at me for buying the TE stick and Hori EX Pro, to wanting ones for themselves (and even winded up selling my brother the EX Pro). Glad to see sticks are heading back to mainstream.

Wow, that's some stick to follow but here go's......

Nice follow up! :lol Great looking stick.

I actually like the sackboys a lot more than the usual grade of SF art that's featured in customs.

I second the request for art replacement advice.

GQ great job.

I'm glad people are finally starting to do art mods on the TE ;)

I'm gonna show the crew at work...

Now that's classy. I'm not usually one for a woodgrain finish, but with the Okami art I think they complement each other beautifully.

I have a question though - artwork buttons, how to you pull them off? Is there a special button that you can disassemble to put artwork inside? Or can you do that with any clear button?

The buttons I used - seimitsu clear 30mm - have an inner peg that comes out and lets you do whatever you want. On the SRK forums (that are down or I would get the link) there is a tutorial that shows how to do it. I just took the inner peg out and traced it on the back of the larger cutouts for the buttons.

Wow man, that's really great. Can I ask you how you do your custom artwork? Do you just find a template somewhere and place what I'm assuming is plexiglass of some sort over it? And would you happen to know where you could get a custom glass like that?

I took a button layout into photo shop and made it a top layer. Then I found some high res (from the post on this forum) art and moved it around the button layout till it was somewhere I liked it. I wanted the chicks head on one of the buttons and it worked out well.

It is lexan that is covering the top. Its found at home depot and lowes. I just cut it and the wood on a 10inch table saw. Set the saw just a tad higher than the lexan and go slow. It cuts just fine.

I am finally working on my own stick and if anyone is interested on a one off custom to your specs PM me. I completed this stick in about a week but that's with the cooperation of lizardlick for parts.

Thanks a lot for all the kind words.

at least you didn't order from Video Game Central. My boy pre-ordered from there in December. apparently, they took 900 pre-orders for only 50 sticks. all payed up front. and they're basically drawing names out of a hat of 900 names to decide who gets the sticks (not even first come, first serve).

now that's some bull.

For serious? Talk about poor business practices.

robot, thanks for the comments. I worked hard on these things and it is made of love... I'm glad you were able to appreciate them. :)

Did you paint that PS3 yourself? I wasn't aware the white models ever came with the chrome front and extra USB ports.

Well, I used an actual printing place (Docu Print) to print out the TIFF file. It cost a little more than Kinko's, but I'm happy that they knew just what to do when I explained what I was using it for.

They hooked me up with matted glossy paper because it's nice and thick and will apparently hold it's color overtime. They also suggested using this sleeve like lamination thingy because it too was thinker than normal.

When it came to construction I wrote down the layout of each wire color as I popped off the buttons. Getting the buttons off wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.

After pulling the original artwork off I used it was a pattern over top my piece and simply started cutting. The glue on the back of the original actually worked out great because it made it possible for me to hold it all together while I cut with my knife.

From there it was all about resembling everything.

Yep, self painted. One coat of white plastic safe spray paint and one of arts and crafts clear coat spray. The PS3 logo is nothing more than stiff stickers that pop right off with a knife. They stick right back on with a little force.

Many thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to reference back to this...if and when I can ever get my hands on a TE stick. :lol

Again, solid work you did on your stick.

Co-worker of mine is friends with a dude who runs an arcade repair shop. Gonna see if I can get a custom made stick.....

Just got my SE fightstick and I'm not in love with the stick. I am considering modding it with this:

Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable

I see it listed at Lizard Lick Amusemen'ts site. One in particular is actually advertised as "DROP-IN REPLACEMENT FOR MAD CATZ SE FIGHTSTICK!! " part way down on this link:

http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pages/joysticks.shtml

A few questions. Is this all I would need? the listing says it does not include a wiring harness. Do I need to order one of those?

Also, do these come with any kind of instructions on how to install? I'm a total noob to owning and modding sticks so any help would be appreciated.

no you don't need it, i think the reason they say it does NOT include it, is because if you look at the photo it has the wiring harness, but luckily the SE stick has a 5 pin connector so you don't need to deal with that or soldering.

Wow. Got email about 1 hr ago about my Dec 21 pre-order for X360 TE. Shitty part is recently VISA sent me a new credit card due to security issue with vendor I purchase stuff from and Amazon says it can't process the order since it was the old card. Changed the information. Hopefully, it didn't screwed up the order and item is coming soon.

Any pcb guys in here? I'm looking for a way to do dual pcb, but with one wire. I came up with this: link. In case you're wondering, the bottom grey things are supposed to be the joystick/buttons(this was a quick hack up I did in paint:lol ). Thoughts? Would this work? The screw terminal could be any kind of splitter solution.

A question about the Madcatz SE stick:

Did they not fucking QC the product -at all- ?? Surely after even a few hours of play they would have noticed this horrendous malfunction.

-YakiSOBA, an extremely dissatisfied Madcatz SE stick owner.

And the malfunction is... ?

The loose washer that grinds the PCB, perhaps? I had to fix that myself on that one, and that problem is sort of common, it seems.

Yup, my stick has the upper right corner clunking a bit but it has been responsive all the time this far. Buttons have been getting stuck since unpacking, as well.

Good thing my sanwa parts should ship from Akihabarashop this week.

Ok, cool. Thanks.

In case anyone is interested the stock stick I have also has the same clunky sticking problem. For me its in the Left position and Down Left. Argh. I am considering sending it back to Mad Catz for them to fix it, but I might as well just shell out a bit more for the Sanwa stick.

I will probably just end up ordering one of those then. Are they pretty easy to put in? Is it mostly just unscrewing and pulling the old one out and dropping the new one in, screwing it in and plugging it in?

Yup, all you gotta do is unscrew the ball top (hold the screw at the bottom of the stick with a a screwdriver and rotate the balltop), take off the screws holding the stick's mounting plate down (should have red goo on em), and put in the new stick reversing this process. :D

The order has been placed. I also got some sanwa buttons. The SE Fightsticks buttons feel a bit mushy for my tastes.

These are really fantastic looking sticks. The designs look so much cleaner and better thought out than some of the earlier pieces in this thread.

Now to get my hands on one and do one myself...:lol

The following is from mthanded who currently is ... uhh, taking a break :lol

I only post it cause it does seem relevant to the thread

Below is the email I received from amazon after emailing about my stick not being sent. :-/ Some others would probably like to know what's going on.

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

We are very sorry for the delay in completing your order. I have reviewed your account and can see that this experience has been far less than positive.

We strive for convenience and efficiency at Amazon.com, but in this instance we have fallen short of our goal.

I've checked your order, and I can confirm that we still expect to ship it by the date listed in Your Account: February 24, 2009.

Please note that the estimated delivery date is calculated by how close the inventory of " Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition " is to the delivery address, as well as how quickly we can obtain and assemble your order for shipment.

Please allow me to explain that sometimes unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our original availability estimate. We have learned that " Xbox 360 Street Fighter IV FightStick Tournament Edition" is now back-ordered, and our supplier has not been able to let us know exactly when they expect to have more in stock.

I apologize for the delay in notifying you of the change in availability and for the frustration this continued delay has caused.

Please note that we rely on suppliers in fulfilling your order.

Further the availability and shipping time frames listed on our web site are estimates, not guarantees. While we do our best to adhere to these estimates, our inventory is constantly changing based on information we receive directly from our suppliers.

Occasionally, unexpected fluctuations in supply will add time to our original availability estimate. I do understand that such changes can be frustrating for you.

I can assure you that we are working hard to obtain this item for you and we will ship it as soon as we are able to obtain it. This means that we will ship the item as soon as we receive it from our suppliers even if the estimated ship date has still not arrived.

I'm sorry that you were not notified sooner of this change in availability.

We will ship the item as soon as we are able to obtain it. You won't be charged until we ship it to you. On the date of shipment, we'll send you e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

We would understand if you'd prefer to cancel your order. You may cancel unshipped items through the "Your Account" page, accessible at the top of any page on our web site.

You may cancel items by following these steps:

1. Click the "Your Account" link at the top of our home page.

2. Click "Cancel items or orders." After signing in with your e-mail address and password, you will be able to cancel unshipped items.

Well mine hasn't been boxed up yet, and it's supposed to ship by today for me to get it on the anticipated delivery date.

All the modded Madcatz SE sticks I've seen are for 360, did no one buy the ps3 version?

I bought a PS3 stick. Now I sorta wish I got a 360 stick because then I'd make it dual-platform, too. :(

Guess I'll have to get a 360 stick somehow and mod that too...

Nice. My Amazon Dec 21 X360 TE status has now changed to shipping soon. So, there's still hope for others.

What's the "Cthulhu?" Link to show how it's done?

fuck... damn elevator crunched my bag on the way to the office (yes, i carry my TE stick to my wall st office :lol ) and nicked the white panel a little.

i don't know if this was due to what happened or not, but it also looks like tiny hairline cracks are forming in the plastic near each of the turbo/dashboard/lock switches... anyone else have this problem?

If I had the PS and fabrication skills I would want to mod my incoming TE fightstick with this:

IMG_2032.jpg

I don't know about putting the text in the yellow area, but it'd be awesome to put 'the ultimate feature! Ken vs. Ken' in it =)

My Dec. 30th 360 TE order from amazon got the same response as above. How people who ordered after me got theirs fulfilled is extremely frustrating. It sucks that these supply and QC issues affect both sticks, especially when they seem to be such a great product.

I'd love to cut a piece of acrylic that I could sit on top of my TE stick so that I could change artwork at will and just screw the acrylic down over top and call it a day.

what kind of places could cut acrylic like that? some place like a Home Depot? or some other kind of business?
