How about those folks who upgrade their sticks and play neither online nor in tournaments! Heck, I don't even play the games local mulit-player...and all my sticks are upgraded.

Well, you post of GAF so you automatically don't fall into the category of casual gamer.

I payed for USPS Priority mail cause that's the cheapest option. It's the same option you chose I guess.I emailed Chad a question on Saturday after he shipped and I got an email back from him like 5 hours later...not sure why he hasn't responded to your emails.

The only reason why yours hasn't shipped is if one of your items was back ordered.I posted a page or two ago about how he's handling those orders.By the time he got up to you order he might have been out of stock of a specific color or something. He's got new stock coming in this week..he's just been overwhelmed with a shit ton of orders since last Friday the 13th.

This is my first time dealing with Lizard Licks and even though I had to wait a week for my items to ship...Chad is nothing but class and I would order from them again.

Also my items were packed with great care so they wouldn't get damaged.

Maybe you should join the SRK forums, you might be able to contact him there.

This is all it says in the email I have:

So did anyone else get a TE that looked like it had been opened? The circular tape on my stick looked to be cleanly cut on both ends. Damn Amazon warehouse workers playing with my TE!
Dang that sux....
but can you really blame them? :)

can anyone share with me how to remove the sawna snap-in buttons? I'm squeezing the sides, but the buttons don't loosen at all.

edit: never mind. figured it out. needed to apply more pressure.

All mine says is my confirmed address at the bottom, mine doesn't have a receipt number under it or any of those instructions from buyer stuff. You sure your paypal address is up to date with usps? My address info was showing unconfirmed on a previous order I had off ebay with another store so I had to change it.Usps has been become really strict with zip codes.

My old zip code on paypal/usps was 10028 and it was always confirmed. Now to be confirmed it has to be 10028-5903.Really stupid, but maybe that's why your order was delayed and put into the back order pile.

type in your address here and see what comes up....

"If I need any help I'll ask you Matrix. It looks pretty easy though."

No problem, but it's really easy....I can't see you having any major problems :)

Btw a big thank you to Markman for making such an easy to stick to mod.

Also C-warrior,you didnt order the same date as me.If you ordered the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK,that was not for sale on Sat the 14th when I placed my order.

Hey guys! I just want to say i've been reading this thread for a while now. I used to play SF2 in the arcade, and haven't really been in the fighting genre in the last decade or so. I also never owned a fight stick. However, I got myself a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 the other day just after I got Street Fighter IV on Tuesday. Originally I was going to buy the HFS3 but changed my mind and decided to get the HRAP3. After days of reading over this thread, and various other websites, I ordered from Lizard Lick today: a white Seimitsu LB-39, a Sanwa GT-Y, and 6 red Sanwa OBSF-30, 2 black Sanwa OBSF-30, and 2 white Sanwa OBSF-24's. I expect it to take around 3 weeks, as I know they are super busy. I can't wait to get the octogate. I think it's going to make a big difference for me. Thanks to all the advice and knowledge on this thread!

Yeah, that's what I ordered. What's the difference between that and what you ordered?

Also, I didn't pay using paypal, I paid by credit card that wasn't attached to paypal. All I know is when lizardlick or whoever asked me for my fuckin' address, I put the address that I wanted shit shipped to. I don't see what's so difficult.

Anyway, I thought you said you ordered your stuff Saturday, as in 3 days ago.

As for USPS

I typed my address and yeah, I get the extra 4 digits after the regular 5 numbers.

But no online order service requires you to put the entire 9 digit zipcode down.

On lizard licks website "All of our credit card payments go through PayPal." Ehhh I'm not understanding how you payed then.I used a credit card on paypal, when you checkout it directs you to the paypal website.

What you ordered is the easier version to put in,my PCB had to be rotated 90 degrees and was the only option to order at the time.I ordered Saturday the Feb.14th.

USPS/Paypal sometimes requires those extra digits for your address to be considered confirmed now.It doesn't mean he won't ship it,it just might be why your order is delayed.I have no clue....but I'm not understanding how you payed with a credit card without going through paypal :\

Look what came in the mail today...

The Hori Real Arcade Pro EX SE

I tried the joystick on SFIV and HD Remix (should've broken out TS and KOF Neowave). This is the first time I've used a Seimitsu stick. I like it. It seems to be a bit clickier. I was able to pull off moves effortlessly (though double fireballs when facing right were a small issue...not completely). I like how the buttons felt. There is definitely a difference between Seimitsu parts and Sanwa. Just a matter of preference I suppose. My only gripes with the joystick were the button layout (please adopt the Saturn or HRAP 3 layout please) and if in the future I need to swap out the joystick it will require I have some type of soldering skills. Boo. From what I've tasted, I'd say the stick is a 8.5/10 or 9/10. It would be a 9 or 9.5 if it weren't for my two issues. For comparison I've thrown the normal HRAP EX and Hori EX2 for comparison visually.

I'd rank the HRAP EX a 8.5/10. The button layout and the soldered joystick contacts are the culprit again. Hori EX2 is a 7/10. It's a decent stick. Everyone should start out with one...so they can know what a great stick feels like.

Tomorrow, I'll be back with pictures of the SF swag. I'm going to go to Lizard Lick and order Seimitsu LS-32-01 and some buttons for my 360 SE.

HRAP EX (Don't mind the KOF)

Hori EX2

^^

Welcome to the club! I just love the sound and feel of the Seimitsu stick in the case, the general "rubberiness" of the stick.

I'm using mine for shooters and my 360 copy of SFIV. Love it! I'm hoping Hori has more SE version of sticks lined up.

mannn i want to make a custom stick with Sanwa parts... but shiiit looks too complicated
Electronics-wise it's actually very simple. Don't let the bundle of wires scare you. There are plenty of guides, as well as people who can answer your questions. I'm in the process of building a 360 stick currently. It's basically just a housing with a controller PCB wired to some buttons.

I'm a fool when it comes to woodworking, though, so I opted to buy a pre-made case from Norris Arcade Sticks. Maybe one of these days I'll try to build my own case...

I'd love to cut a piece of acrylic that I could sit on top of my TE stick so that I could change artwork at will and just screw the acrylic down over top and call it a day.

what kind of places could cut acrylic like that? some place like a Home Depot? or some other kind of business?
http://www.tapplastics.com/info/acrylic.php?

If I understand your idea, correctly, there are a couple of things I'd note, in case you didn't already think of them. The cutouts for the buttons will make it so that the button rims will sit, slightly, recessed in the acrylic. Also, you may need to remove the black, circular guard at the base of the joystick, or just cut a large-enough hole to accommodate the full range of motion of the joystick.

Yes Boss,

I like how the Seimitsu's feel. I'm going to replace the Madcatz stock parts in my SE with a LS-32-01 and some PS 14 Gs (four black/black and four black/white). Man...the shipping from Akihabara shop is...

And Markman bit me with the joystick buying bug. At the moment, I'm sitting at eight.

I opted out of the SFIV HRAP because of the soldered joystick. And it would definitely kick butt if they release a HRAP3 SE (with 5-pin connector).

Never forget...

The best out of the box Seimitsu stick ever (yes even better than the Sega Saturn Virtua Stick Pro HSS-0130)...

The Hori Real Arcade PRO SE...

Does anyone on NeoGAF have one of these?

It took me THREE years to find one.

It used to go for 260-300 USD every now and then on Yahoo Auctions Japan...

I'm sure with the advent of SF4, prices on these will skyrocket...

This is definitely the most limited stick Hori has produced. Reports of less than 400 of these sticks exist. It was not re-released later on like it's SA counterpart.

Famitsu readers even voted this stick in it's top controllers of all time poll.

Word.

If you couldn't tell. I like this stick.

Well I got impatient and bit. Arcade Shock got a few 360 HRAP EXs in stock today, 6 when I found out about it. I mulled it over all day, and talked to my wife about it. The price was jacked up to $199 because they said they oversold on it and had to order from a reseller. My birthday is March 12 so my wife said it could be my birthday present, lol. Luckily I live in Raleigh where Lizard Lick is located so when I get some Sanwa buttons I can save a little on shipping and just pick them up.

If I didnt get it, I think I would be waiting until late March or later on getting either this stick, the EX-SE or the TE stick, which is all I'll settle for. I'll take pics when it comes.

Edit: Looks like they have 2 left if anyone else wants one: http://www.arcadeshock.com/items/pro-arcade-sticks~mas~hori~/hori-real-arcade-pro-ex-for-xbox-360-horixboxpro-detail.htm

The only stick with an octagonal gate out of the box I can think of is the Otomedius Hyper Stick Pro

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-br-77-1-49-en-70-2uev.html

You might want to look in to ASCII's optical sticks though.

Better than the HSS-0130? How so?
Isn't it literally an Astro City panel with two Saturn controller PCBs inside?

doesn't make sense to recommend someone downgrade the quality of their actual stick just to get a gate that's only $2-$3 retail.
He asked for a good stick with an octagonal gate and I recommended one with a JLF + GT-Y restriction gate and OBSF-30 buttons bone stock. I think it fits the criteria.

The HSS-0130 has the buttons soldered onto the PCB, they don't use QD. While it is definitely true arcade quality, it does have some issues when having to replace parts/components...

I wished they went with QDs like the real Astro City cabs...

^ old pic, right when I first got it... 3 minutes later the buttons were changed for the standard pink/green ;)

can someone just give me a stick, it seems like so many of you have multiples. I can't find one anywhere and I can't play SFIV anymore, I feel my the joystick on my controller wearing down

Glad to see you got your stick man. Looks great. Would you mind posting some more impressions after you get some more playtime? I glued down the washer on my SE standard stick but the inputs are kinda "off" - I think the standard stick is a step below stock Hori sticks or even the stick on my old green Dreamcast stick. Just doesn't feel as tight to me. Looking forward to playing with a Sanwa for the first time.

Anyway regarding the paypal thing - the site lets you pay with a credit card WITHOUT actually logging in to paypal. You can manually provide your payment info right there at checkout, or, you can log into your paypal account and the site will pull the info that way. I didn't log in because I think I forgot my Paypal pass, so I know the site will accept payment without it. C - Warrior you may not get an email letting you know your parts shipped if you didn't actually sign in to a paypal account - that's what I've read on the Shoryuken forums anyway. Also some people didn't receive a shipping confirmation but they obtained it by signing into their paypal accounts.

I think Dream-Visions meant the optical stick option.

That said, I don't think any sane person would buy the Oto stick casually.

MarkMan,

Nice stick! I'd buy one if I ever had the option...but I don't think I'll get that chance. Yours looks immaculate.

Damn, it is crazy what sticks are going for now that SFIV is out. Just last month they were everywhere for relatively cheap. Even throw-away sticks like the HRAP SFIV Edition are making bank on eBay.

The Sammy (ASCII) SVC sticks come with an Octo gate (PS2 sticks)...

EDIT: SVC = SNK vs Capcom: Chaos

Ah, I see.

Help! I spent 2 hours trying to remove the square gate from my Madcatz SE stick. Any advice? I poked at it with a flathead screwdriver and tried and tried. Only one tab came lose. My washer is sooo broken.

^^^Yowsers!^^

Not to be too smug, but I'm so thankful I ordered it on Amazon when they were $130. Anything more and I would feel sick paying that much for a controller.

Edit: 130 is even more than I want to pay, but fuck, can't beat em', buy an overpriced piece of plastic of buttons to join them, I always say.

Where are you pushing with the flat head? I positioned it underneath the gate and pushed the tabs inward that way. If you are holding the stick straight up and down in your hand (gate facing the ceiling) I held the screwdriver parallel to the floor and just pushed straight inwards against the "post" of the tab. While I pushed I used my free thumb (on the hand holding the stick) and pressed the gate upwards.

I've been looking for one of the HRAP SEs ever since I decided I wanted at least one full Sanwa stick and one full Seimitsu stick, but I've never come across one. Almost took the plunge on the EX SE despite not having a X360 to use at the moment, but couldn't justify the near-$300 pricetag that it commanded (after adding in shipping to US) when I also had two TEs on pre-order. I hope I don't come to regret that decision a couple of years down the road. :(

Jeez this Fighting Stick EX2 is driving me crazy, and I don't want to risk messing it up by trying to mod it.

Is there any site/place where I can buy a stick where:

A) I don't have to wait 6-9 WEEKS to get it (Arcadeinabox : /)
B) The price isn't being gouged (play-asia)

Any suggestions? I can't stand playing on this stick much longer.

I'll probably just end up getting the stick from play-asia...sigh

I asked this a few days ago but I didn't get a response, so I'll ask again.

I have some sanwa buttons and a stick sitting around and I'm thinking about grabbing one of the standard SF 4 sticks and swapping them. Should I do this or is the stick gonna break or something?

A Twisty Fluken said:
The soldered stick ended up keeping me away from the HRAP EX SE...love being able to crack the HRAP2 SA open and easily swap parts in and out.

Yeah, the soldered ends do suck. I don't understand why they keep doing that...even from a repair standpoint (swap out stick...use 5-pins versus having someone in a factory solder the ends).

And how come Markman won't show us all of his joysticks... That would kick ass...to see the collection he has amassed over the years.

Swap out the parts... Going by the SE feedback thread on SRK and in here, those things are bred to live, born to die...

I'm doing the same...so not a big deal if you have the parts.

I'll ask here since SRK is down again, I stupidly only ordered half the quick disconnects I need from lizardlick, ordering ten more is 1 dollar plus 5.50 shipping! i emailed them about adding to my order but have not recieved a reply yet i guess since they are swamped with orders. I was wondering if anyone knew a local place (new york city) i can find the right size QDs, i looked at radioshack but i could only find this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103313 it says it has 5 1/5" and 3/16" but the ones i read i should get from lizardlick are .110, the 3/16" ones are .187 can i use those?

Just received an interesting e-mail from Amazon:

Greetings from Amazon.com,

We've been informed by Mad Catz that release date for the Street Fighter IV controller will be delayed by about 2 weeks. We apologize for the delay and have deposited a gift certificate of $20 in your account to make up for the inconvenience.

We look forward to seeing you again at Amazon.com.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
Amazon.com

The reason this is interesting is because the only SFIV item I ordered from Amazon was the TE FightStick, and that one has already been shipped (should be here on Wed.).

Anyone else get this?

Fuck. Just got that. :(

Free 20 bucks I guess. =\

Yeah,

got a $20 gift card as well. Crap, my Akira blu-ray just went out today and would have liked to use it for that. :lol

Oh well, at least we've got some closure and what finally seems like a firm date.

I already got one stick delivered from Amazon so I ain't complaining. Also, I've a third TE stick I got from Gamecrazy that I've been using for a few weeks which was, ironically, my backup preorder.

Those look great Dream-Visions! Tempted to make some custom artwork for one but the red bezel is really difficult to work with. It be nice if Madcatz sold replacement bezels in varying colors for the custom crowd.

Fuck Amazon or Madcatz whoever is responsible for this mess. Got email saying delay of two weeks. They should have known about this in advance. Now I can't even find fightpads anywhere.

Can anyone help me?

I got my Seimitsu LS-56 stick, but I'll need a mounting plate similiar to the JLF one that came with the HRAP EX.

Does anyone know what kind of Seimitsu mounting plate I'll need? RE-type, SS-type or MS?

Basically, I'm trying to fit a Seimitsu LS-56 to a HRAP EX.

The stick is not soldered right? If it's exactly like the HRAP3, you can use the same mounting plate for the LS-56. It was a simple swap job when I did the same mod for my Amazon HRAP3.
