Layout on the TE and HRAP aren't linear either.

No, I don't think the A button is tucked under to such an extreme. I think it's just slightly lower than the other 3, similar to the HRAP and TE.

Edit: or similar to either row on the VSHG! Just with one extra button.

you're right, my bad

Just a thought...
Sanwa or Seimutsu should really start producing colored plugs for us color coordinated 6 button users :D
You can either match (somewhat) the panel color or the buttons.
Ex. "carbon fiber" plugs for your HRAP 3's

I don't understand why do people this. It's such a waste of extra button ports. A buddy of mine did this with his tournament stick. I was like what?! :lol

I just set extra buttons to 'no use' or 'no function.' Not a big deal. I prefer the American layout on the TE stick, I have friends that prefer the JPN layout. More options, more better.

It's clearly not for everyone, but some of us prefer having just six and not have to think of "avoiding" the other buttons. It's also part of having that "authenticity" - have you ever seen an arcade cab with eight buttons? It's not like those plugs are permanent either.

Same with Bat vs. Ball , Square vs. Octo gate, its all preference.

Got the parts in for my PS3 Fightstick SE. Swapped the buttons and joystick out for standard Sanwa.

Before:

After (apologize for the low light):

With it's 360 Brother (which has Seimitsu parts):

I'll be using them as my day to day sticks. I'll leave the TEs and HRAPs to collect dust in the closet. I'll probably buy the MVC2 TEs not SEs.

The buttons were a tight fit in both SEs. Also, I don't really like the stands, as they easily come off if you screw it too tight.

Akihabara didn't take that long to send out the shipment, maybe a week. But from what I hear everything is backed up again.

It's too bad the Fightsticks/Fightpad don't currently support BC on PS3.

I don't have a Kinkos or printing facility nearby to change the art (nor do I have a printer or want one). I'd like to change the art to something Marine Corps themed or featuring other SF artwork.

didn't they overpromise on their TE pre-orders? I've never done business with them but people who pre-ordered the TE stick seem very unhappy.

Actually I just read the 13 page thread at SRK talking about this disaster... I'm really scared now. I hate that they charge you first and then ship, when most companies charge you once item has been shipped. They are holding on to $300+ dollars of mine right now...

Do you guys think I have a better chance since this might be a real re-stock of Hori sticks, since we know madcatz only made xxx amount and aren't planning on making more? I'm keeping my fingers crossed... that Hori is making more and that VGC will actually be getting them. T_T

Got my acrylic cover that is for the TE stick from the bloke in Northern California. Really nice job they've done on these. Big props to MarkMan for linking as I don't go to SRK and would have not known about the service.

TE mod is slowly coming together...just waiting for one of the shops to come back online so I can order my pink buttons.

is it bothersome at all having the plexi raised slightly above the molding part--or is it not noticeable when using?

Nice i ordered an art template from the guy last friday!

Somebody on the shmup forum got the DS stick in. Crummy photo and no picture of the internals but I'm liking the look so far...nice little gold filagree trim. I'm assuming NCS is sending out early next week as it is not scheduled for tomorrow or friday.

Thanks! Hori buttons, right?

that arthong fellow making the plexi overlays is running into production issues apparently. I'm glad you got yours, but I fear for my order :(

Yeah, looks like it. I'm just curious if the buttons are soldered.

When I get mine in I'm swapping out the buttons for black rimmed Seimitsu but keeping the color scheme the same, and keeping the stick Sanwa. No button plugs for me!

Still waiting for Lizardlick to reopen so I can get cracking on some of my sticks.

When did you order? I think I did mine on Thursday and he shipped out on Monday. Though it came from Sacramento and only had to come down the coast. I actually used the money in my paypal account from you to pay 2/3 of the cost!

Oh yeah, there was a photo of the box on the forum as well. Pretty cute! I'll be sure to take better photos when I get mine in (though praying a GAFer gets it in quicker).

NCS came through with a LE Death Smiles Box for me but they had to go to retailers and consequently had to charge $126 for it instead of $109. No biggie but my policy is generally not so buy special editions but I always make exceptions for shooters.

The only trouble I've had has nothing to do with the sticks at all, and that's Gradius V locking up every so often because of imperfect BC. Damn you, BC! Even that doesn't bother me that much, and if it did, I could instead just play it on my PS2 with my HRAP2:SA.

Baron,

I just ordered this game (NA version). When you talk of imperfect BC are you playing on a 60GB or 80GB? I'm thinking I should have done my research before ordering. I'm planning on using 60GB and hoping I won't have problems.

Ah, I missed your question. To answer: I've not used the stick yet for gameplay cause it is gutted but the raised part seems like a non-issue. Curiously, it is not raised on the top side and almost flush there as if there was a slight upward slop on the TE metal surface. I doubt the raised surface will be much of an issue unless you are a perfectionist.

Honestly, the quality of the plexiglass was much better than I was expecting and I'm happy it is thicker rather than thinner and the thought of placing only printed artwork on the surface was disturbing and I was planning on putting a lacquer on it untill I found this option.

I ordered Friday the 18th.

I've got experience with the LS-32-01. One situation involved switching out the stock Sanwa JLF stick in a HRAP2:SA for an LS-32-01. There are only two screw mount points to use for its mounting plate n that situation, and it has held just fine for some time with that. It's not an issue at all.

As for rotating the PCB, it isn't an issue either.

Okay, that's cool. My primary concern was that the stock SE joystick was mounted with four, but using the LS-32-01 the only thing I could do was mount it with two screws. I was kind of getting worried that it may loosen sooner than later.

Random question for MarkMan: any word on when the play-asia TE sticks arrive? They advertised the release date as March, but now it appears they aren't getting anything until the 3rd batch in June. I know fair few people who ordered from there ages ago and haven't got anything yet, and they don't give any feedback.

Jesus christ why the fuck can't you dye your button plugs red? I mean even the shaft is red it doesn't match and what is with the yellow 24 mm buttons ARGHHHHHH

:P

haha, you noticed my red shaft cover. The whole red motif was just a temporary thing on that stick, it originally was all-white Sanwa stuff, but I needed white buttons for a Wii stick mod and was getting impatient waiting for stores to get open, so I switched them out from that stick. I've since bought more white buttons and switched out the red. I really wish they did make button plugs in different colors. I may buy some extra and paint them, I dunno.

I have the 80 GB model PS3 that came with the MGS4 bundle last year. Not sure if the issues still exist on the 60 GB models, though. It's still playable regardless, just sometimes it'll lock up on you. It sucks when you are doing exceptionally well score-wise, but I never am with Gradius V, so it's not too big a deal for me. :P

I was stalking Play-Asia all week waiting for them to open the orders for this. I come to check the site today and it's already sold out, fuck :-(

What about the SE sticks?

Fck Gamestop for selling me a used one that's been tampered with (sticker is cut in half). Going to return it tomorrow and wait for another retailer to stock one.

Join the club...I kept watching it, and I watched it change from coming soon, to sold out...FML

All I want is a Real Arcade Stick Pro EX...

I'm glad I got Seimitsu buttons for the SE I just received from Buy.com. They work way better for my mashy style than the Sanwas in my TE. The Sanwas feel fantastic, but they're just way too sensitive.

I was able to order one of the PS3 Street Fighter 4 Tournament Edition Sticks at Best Buy today. They did not have any 360 Sticks in the warehouse. They had to use Green Screen to order it but the warehouse had like 55 in stock according to the computer. They weren't available on .com or on customer fulfillment. They had to be ordered using Green Screen. Its apparently the old school style of look-up that they used way back in the day. Sku was 9203364 and it will be showing up on the 29th for me at the store. I would urge everyone looking for a stick to hurry into Best Buy in the morning and try to order a TE stick this way. I'm sure once word gets out that you can order them this way... they will be gone extremely quickly with only 55 or less available. Good Luck Everyone.

Could anyone tell me how to check if my MadCatz SE stick has been tampered with besides the easy to remove sticker?

I haven't opened it up yet....but I might soon.

Has anyone tried the Saulabi 4K Arcade Stick or know anything about it (such as whether it is compatible with PS2 games on the PS3)? I'm not super hardcore and I like the bat stick (hopefully it has a circular base). If shipping isn't killer, the quality is decent, and it works on NA PS3's, it sounds like it could be worth while.

In particular what are you worried about it in terms of tampering? They might have fixed the washer problem. Also, considering how hard it is to come by recently. If that was the case, I'd just hold onto it. And even then, you could always just swap things out yourself.

Would you be happy if you paid full price for a used or broken item from a retailer when they marked it as new?

You and one other user posted this up... I dunno if you guys knew, but preorders for the DS sticks opened months ago, and closed quickly. They're only available through amazon.jp and there was a limit of one per account, so there were limited quantities available.

I ordered two (used my sister's account) and I only got one so far.. the other one is delayed until June since they didn't produce enough to fill orders. :/

Oh, and I know someone asked about opening it up... my friend will be coming to the States on wednesday of this coming week, so I should be able to do it then... assuming you don't have an answer already. lol.

Still waiting on my capcom TE stick. ;_;

Where are you guys ordering your parts from? LizardLick has been on backorder for months and I need a stick and buttons for my SE.

Plexi arrived today. Lookin' good.

Wow, that looks sharp as hell! Now that is the way to take away buttons, just completely do away with them without any ugly butt plugs.

Aslo your plexi is evenly-raised all around which means your TE stick has better craftsmanship than mine.

Heh, thanks. It's mainly just a simple art swap. I wasn't really aware of the plexi business until MarkMan and Yes Boss! posted about it earlier. It's quality stuff!

Thanks much. I guess I just made sure the art was flat and not folding/warping anywhere around the buttons and also not to overtighten the hex screws.
I went with Art's 7-button design to keep the stick more in line with a real Vewlix panel. I don't miss the eigth button at all.

Yeah, I barely, barely tightened my screws. Still my back is ever so slightly lower than the front. Really not much of a deal as it is a fraction of a mm but it does exist for some reason. Compare the front to the back (a little hard to see cause I don't have mad photo skills and no artwork is in place yet).

There are lots of little build issues with my stick. The seams aren't that flush, the molded plastics have a lot of minor blemishes out of the factory. I've compared it to the Pontiac I drive which is put together nicely but not to the same caliber as the Volvo or Audi that my sister drives.

That's odd. Unlikely, but perhaps it's warped?
Art seems like a great guy and he's got a return policy if the error was on his part. I would contact him and see if he knows what it could be.

It is not the plexi. I think the metal faceplate on the stick just seems to have a slope in it.

Argh, wanna order buttons and complete my stick! Third week has come and gone and Lizardlick is still not open. Guess Aki will open in May at least.

gamingnow.net seems to have some parts in stock. You can search for him in Shoryuken.com and find that he's reputable.
