I Got a few questions. I'm thinking about getting the se sf4 fight stick. I've never owned a stick before and i'm worried about having issues with it. I vaguely remember hearing sticking issues with the joystick. Is it a decent stick(currently just usin a sixaxis? Is it recommended that I buy the stick and mod it? I dont think I can wait till the blablue stick drops , but if I have to I'll just do that.Or should I stay away all together? What is the turnaround on custom parts if I were to look into getting a sanwa stick?
wanted to reup my question for the new page.

the main issue with the SE fightstick was that there was an unsecured washer in the joystick part it would move around as you play scraping away at the traces on the joystick's pcb eventually rubbing right through and then you either are stuck in one direction or it doesnt respond. I think thats fixed with the current sticks but I'm not positive. people also seem to really dislike the buttons. there are also some random problems people are having where the console suddenly registers the controller as gone even though its still there and people have to get up and unplug and replug it to get it to work again. I don't know how widespread that is.

turn around time depends on where you order but shouldn't be out of line with normal online ordering process as long as the parts are in stock. modchipman.com and gamingnow.net are taking orders lizardlick has opened twice for orders recently and should be almost caught up on their orders, akihabarashop.jp should be opening up for more orders soon as well.

Thanks for the response, think I may bite the bullet buy the SE and try and mod it as I'm told it's easy enough for a caveman to do(not to undermine any of the nice sticks I've seen in this thread). I just need to step my game up to stick.

Not all SE fightsticks were defective, I've used mine for over 40 hours and it still works *knock on wood*

Hi

I want to add art to my SE fightstick but I live in London & the UK sadly doesn't have Kinkos, has anyone in London changed the art on their stick? If so where did you go to get your art lami-labeled?

Also I know that the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK is compatible with the SE stick (thanks _dementia) but the best place for me to buy arcade parts in the UK is Gremlin Solutions & they only have the Sanwa Joystick JLF-TP-8YT (heres the link http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/products/jlf-tp-8yt.htm) will this also work for the SE fightstick?

Thanks in advance for any help given to me :)

You getting the BlazBlue? I think it is only for suckers but I'm picking one up so I can look forward to a new stick over the summer and to help make the game's release a mini-event for myself.

Probably not. I'm not a huge fan of BlazBlue, and between two DS HRAP's and a TE I think I'm done with sticks for the time being. Just gonna buy some buttons and balltops and call it a day. :)

Can't justify spending another $50-$100 on yet another stick...

Alright, I just ordered a TE from Buy.com but it is backordered, was this a bad idea?? How long am I gonna have to wait for the next shipment? The fuckers already charged my card.

Okay, how do I get a tighter movement on the stick?

Because when I received my TE stick it has this loose feeling to it, which makes d+f moves hard to pull off.

You could swap the JLF spring for an LS32 one, perform the "JLF Ultimate Mod" Or replace the stick entirely with a Seimitsu LS-32-01.

A stiffer Happ or iL stick won't fit without a significant amount of physical modification to the TE case itself I'm afraid.

i think its okay. Some people are getting them intermittently

Wow can you pay someone to mod? :lol

Because it seems steady hands plays a big part on mod'ing.

Is it possible to just replace the square gate of the Tournament Edition SF4 fightstick with a Sanwa octagonal gate without too much hassle?

This thread is massive and it's probably somewhere here but so far I haven't found it yet.

Yeah, it works. Ordered one from GS myself and currently use it in my SE.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or picture or something for the EX2 micro-switches? I'm replacing mine with Happ ones but I was a bit reckless removing the original ones and didn't note exactly where each lead goes.

IMHO... It's going to suck. It's the same tooling as the Exar Stick and Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick for the Nintendo Wii.

Unless they drastically change the internal design and add a metal base/more structure, I cannot see an improvement on design. If anything, it will be the same stick.

:(

If you had to pick an EXAR stick, I'd get the SNK Neo Geo one or the ROYDS. The one with artwork may look pretty, but that's all it is.

It took about six weeks to get mine from Buy.com. I ordered in early march and received it in mid April.

My TE Stick arrived! It took 6 days, from ordering to transit, and works a charm, save for one small quirk...

Question to other owners: do all your buttons make the same sound when pressed?

One of the black buttons on mine seems to work just fine, but also makes a noticeably "dull" tap compared to the others. There's very slightly more friction on it too. Is this normal?

May seem like a dumb or lazy question: How do I switch the button layout from Japanese to American on my TE stick? The buttons seem to close to the stick by default to me.

Thanks.

I'm betting a 99% chance the BlazBlue will not have QDs.

Also, my DS stick finally arrived. Super cute with a nice matte finish. Inside of it follows.

Thanks for the pics Yes Boss!

Box artwork looks better than actual stick.
No Seimitsu for a shmup stick = FAIL. I don't get why Hori is so averse to using Seimitsu parts.

That being said I'd still buy the stick in a heartbeat!

You change it with your mind. It's a new Mad Catz innovation.

Just use the right six buttons and reconfigure controls in the option menu.
Otherwise, open her up, plug the left two buttons and rewire ABXY/XCircleTriangleSquare and RB/R1 so you can perform menu stuff.

A wire might be pushing up into the microswitch. Try moving some of the wires around inside. That should eliminate the issue.

MarkMan,

Can you make a LE_TE stick (Limited Edition, Tournament Edition) stick for me that plays midi-like beeps everytime a button is pressed? So when I do dive kick (boop), st.lk (beep), st.mp (beep beep), ex galactic tornado (beep beep boop).

Haha , Guys this thread is huge.

Where do you go if you want to buy a stick and pay like $40 to $60 bucks. Simply just walk into a store or visit a website and leave with a srtick.

I am not a fighting game player, I would just like to have a stick available to me. The market is very strange, alot of SOLD OUTS / Limited Edition / and people buying stock uop to flip it at a profit.

wait a few months? you can also try (gamestop/buy.com/gameshark.com)

I've been playing so much Street Fighter 4 at the sticks at work that I'd love to get one for myself. Getting the arcade buttons and joysticks seems the easy part, but I have no idea what I'd use for the actual base (or container or whatever it's called) of the stick itself.

Damn, that is just about as shitty as I was expecting. I'm not that hardcore but I'll probably get one as a sample of an EXAR stick since Terry made it in the image. No Amazon link, but is it coming for the 360 as well? 360 version of the game is the one I'm buying. My PS3 is getting BlazBlue love. Wait, what?, No Neo-Geo stick for 360 is seems? Shit, I want one for Mark of the Wolves.

Final cover art? Damn, the 360 version is so much better looking.

but the 360 version doesn't have Iori. FAIL

Hey Guys,

I've got a Tournament Edition X360 Stick and a Cthulhu v1.1 Pre-assembled board (non-MC).

My goal is to get the extra PCB in and wired up. I don't care of there are two USB holes/wires in the back, I just really need to do this without soldering since I am really incredibly bad at it.

I've been looking for a guide to do this, or something similar (not too fancy) but I don't seem to be able to find one. Any direction on this? Thanks :D

MarkMan,

Is your TvC Exar Stick something that is even approachable as a mod project (similar I what Baron has elegantly done with his Wii Stick)? Wondering if there is anything I can do with the upcoming KoF stick or if it is too cramped.

Also, NCS says they are going have difficulty filling their BlazBlue sticks since Hori is not supplying enough. Argh. Play-asia closed their orders as well.

Well my SFIV TE stick died in the middle of a match. None of the directions work. I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. Nothing has worked. I guess I'll be contacting Madcatz tomorrow. :(

I'm hoping GAF could help me on this one. I've finally got Windows XP (SP3) to recognize my Madcatz 360 TE Stick and Hori Fighting Stick EX2 but I still can't get MAME to recognize them. I've selected "enable joystick input" in the Default Game Properties menu and after selecting and starting the game I've tried to hit tab and adjust the inputs but MAME is not recognizing that I have any joysticks connected at all. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong?

The Xbox guide buttons do light up when the sticks are connected through USB and the inputs register through the 'Game Controllers' menu in Control Panel it is just that MAME doesn't want to recognize the sticks, and I've tried a couple of different versions of MAME.

Fucking ugh. I got my EX2 with the Happ switches and Sanwa buttons back together and...left is up, up is left, right is down, and down is right. I swear, I'm going to tear my hair out.

Neo Geo Stick PS3 is up at play-asia for 69.90 and the KoF XII stick is up for 89.90. The item description is not live yet but they are purchasable. Shipping is still pricey so I'm hoping NCS lists them this morning.

Shit, no 360 version :-( Guess I'm getting KoF for the Triple.

Thanks for the heads up, interested in the Neo Geo Stick 2 PS3 version

Yeah, I'm picking that one up too. Assuming it is identical to my Wii version. A little light but I'm a sucker for the form factor. Truly blows that they are not offering a 360 version given the XBLA stuff.

My SFIV SE stick is on the way from Buy.com (shipped today - yay!) and my LS-32-01 and Sanwa buttons are likewise on the way from their respective locations so I should have a fairly nice stick coming together soon. My question is this: I'd like to do custom artwork on the new stick as I'm not the biggest SF fan (getting the stick more for MVC2 and BlazBlue) but almost everywhere you look people have posted the TE art and not the SE art. Anyone know of a good collection of SE sized artwork in one place for easy browsing?

And I dont even mind paying someone for something nice, but I need to be able to see it before I can choose it! Thanks!
