Alright guys, I have a bit of a problem and could use your advice.
I'm a stick newb, so I picked up a SF4 Fightstick SE; I'd heard it was a good (and cheap) starter stick. It serves me well some of the time, but the HP button is unreliable--sometimes it doesn't fire at all, sometimes it fires late (which sucks if I'm trying to do 3xP for ultra or teleport), and it's been quite frustrating.
So here are the options, as I see them:
-Send it back for repairs. Presumably it's under some sort of warranty (only got it on Monday). 'Course, this would mean being without it for however long it takes them to fix it, plus putting up with whatever customer service rigamaroll Mad Catz has set up.
-Try to fix it myself. Not sure if this is even possible with the tools at my disposal (no power tools except a drill, no soldering iron, etc.), and not sure how easy it is (remember, stick newb here; very wary about cracking this thing open). Looks like I have two options in that regard:
--Try to fix it myself by swapping the HP button for one that I don't use (such as L2). Would make the stick look bad, but it'd work and this would be the quickest option at my disposal.
--Try to fix it myself by ordering new buttons. I certainly wouldn't mind some concave buttons in this sucker, but I'd have to wait for them to arrive, which would be a pain.
-Try to put up with it. Again, it works a lot of the time, so maybe I could just get used to it. Then again, I do start to feel like a battered wife sometimes--putting up with the punishment because of the good times, and 'cause I'm too lazy to fix the situation.
Suggestions? Mostly I guess it comes down to how easy it is to swap buttons on the SF4 Fightstick SE, and what tools are required...
