Damn...Nice pickups DDG! There are some joystick ballers on this forum:lol

My next (and final) pickup will be next month if/when NCSX gets more HRAP-EX sticks in.

Also,

Not like it is a good deal or anything but I put up my second BB stick in the buy/sell/trade thread. Just looking to get what I paid for it. This is one I got from NCS.

Also, question for Sega cabinet owners. I'm at Aki site trying to decide between the panel with two player or the single player setup. What is it that folks usually go for? As in, what is in the arcades over there?

Mind going into further explanation?

Sure, it is really easy. There are several guides you can find on shoryuken.com and other sites but nothing I found was 100% solderless. They have tons more information already there though so definitely check it out.

Basically this guy created a PCB to mimic a PS3 controller. You can buy it preassembled with screw terminals so that you only have to screw the wires into that side.

The TE is fantastic because it has quick disconnects. You can slip the other end of the wire in between the disconnect.

The stick part is a ribbon type cable and is similar. Get some very small wire and put it into the hole of the ribbon cable, then bend it backwards against the plastic. When all the wires there are done, slide the ribbon cable on as normal (it will be a bit fatter but should still get on fine.

My really really short writeup is here

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions, but your main source of info should be th e shoryuken forums.

Yes Boss!: Go with single player control panels imo. 2 player panels are way too cramped, they're very small. If you're building a cabinet or something along those lines, consider 2 monitors and 2 single player control panels. It costs more, but you'll have a far superior setup.

edit: just remembered you bought an Astro City cabinet right? Generally you would link up 2 of those for multiplayer. If that's too expensive, buy one of each control panel :D Seriously though I think 2 players on 1 cabinet is uncomfortable.

Ok. Good info. Never been on one of these smallish machines. Yeah, Aki makes you buy two separate single player setups (one pink, one green) and it is like $225 instead of the $160 for the two-player setup. I'm not using it for fighters so I don't much care about that...was just mainly concerned with being off-center a bit with the two-player since I'm using it vertical and for shooters. I'll go for the single-player panel...and will have a back-up in the closet. Looking at images of japanese arcades it seems that configuration is popular.

It is, but the better ease of trash-talking your friends makes up for it. :D That the JP setup is one player per cabinet is not surprising though.

Ok,

Bought the single-player panels. They weren't cheap (especially with the EMS shipping, yikes). Also, went with the blue seimitsu with clear top for my Blazblue stick and ordered two red 24s and two red 30s for the new HRAP-SE. Now, gotta find one. NCS really let me down on this stick...looks like I'll have to pay $300 for it :-(

Yes Boss!

Which Seimitsus did you order from aki?

I put in another new order too x_x

And I feel you on the shipping... I'm ordering a T6 panel from the Noir Cab. Ow !

For the BB stick I did the blue bubble-top and blue-with-clear for the face and white-with-clear for the start and select. I'm a bit nervous that they might be a little too light for the stick. The other option was the dark blue that _dementia mentioned...I'll do that if I don't like the color of the clears.

Shipping on one panel is not bad but the two single-player panels kicked it up another $65. First time I've ordered from Aki but everything seemed cool.

I really wanted to make use of those pearl-ized buttons somehow but the pastels are just too funky. I do have a stock HRAP3 arriving from Amazon today for shits and giggles...maybe I'll put those in that sometime in the future.

I ran out of money so I could not order buttons for my new white Amazon JPN HRAP and SE stick. Maybe in September since Black Wii and KoF stick is next month.

So far i must say the HRAP3 is pretty awesome, but the buttons are kinda loose. I tried turning it both clockwise and counterclockwise it didn't help. I was wondering if it's because of the hori buttons or i got a bad HRAP3?

They are, by nature, loose in the socket. The stock buttons are like a mm or two smaller than the standard arcade buttons. Not to worry, that is the way they are supposed to be out-of-the-box.

Thanks, I was a bit worried.

If you VSHGed mine, awesomesauce.

You know it man man ;)

edit: Actually, on that note, I need a Dark Hai balltop to complete the VSHGing. Anyone wanna help a brother out? Don't wanna wait 3 weeks for LL/Aki :-/

Also, to the gentleman with the matching stick, I think MarkMan beat us out, his is IDENTICAL to mine. When I purchased my parts, I didn't copy his on purpose, but I realized I saw his maybe a year or two ago when he originally posted it, and the design stuck with me subconsciously.

Sorry MarkMan, I ripped your shit yo :(

I would be careful not to turn them too much or else you will get your wires twisted up.

Alright guys, I have a bit of a problem and could use your advice.

I'm a stick newb, so I picked up a SF4 Fightstick SE; I'd heard it was a good (and cheap) starter stick. It serves me well some of the time, but the HP button is unreliable--sometimes it doesn't fire at all, sometimes it fires late (which sucks if I'm trying to do 3xP for ultra or teleport), and it's been quite frustrating.

So here are the options, as I see them:

-Send it back for repairs. Presumably it's under some sort of warranty (only got it on Monday). 'Course, this would mean being without it for however long it takes them to fix it, plus putting up with whatever customer service rigamaroll Mad Catz has set up.

-Try to fix it myself. Not sure if this is even possible with the tools at my disposal (no power tools except a drill, no soldering iron, etc.), and not sure how easy it is (remember, stick newb here; very wary about cracking this thing open). Looks like I have two options in that regard:

--Try to fix it myself by swapping the HP button for one that I don't use (such as L2). Would make the stick look bad, but it'd work and this would be the quickest option at my disposal.

--Try to fix it myself by ordering new buttons. I certainly wouldn't mind some concave buttons in this sucker, but I'd have to wait for them to arrive, which would be a pain.

-Try to put up with it. Again, it works a lot of the time, so maybe I could just get used to it. Then again, I do start to feel like a battered wife sometimes--putting up with the punishment because of the good times, and 'cause I'm too lazy to fix the situation.

Suggestions? Mostly I guess it comes down to how easy it is to swap buttons on the SF4 Fightstick SE, and what tools are required...

Great minds think alike.

I would help you out with the DH balltop but I sold my spare to MarkMan :(

Almost forgot, since I was banned when I did this, here's my little blue rose.

where did you get those plastic cases Mark? Need something like that...too many buttons and such.

I got them at an arts and crafts store, I think container stores have em! Pretty cheap...

Davidion: Big baller topper! Those aren't that bad, it changes the weight/neutralizing speed when let go, I actually like the feel and wish it was achievable without having a larger ball.

Big balls.

I love that you can tell by sight. :lol

I have big hands so the small balls actually makes my hand uncomfortable due to the claw grip that I'd have to apply. I know what you mean though; the stick actually feels a little heavier and has more inertia.

Thought about using bats too, but I couldn't find any that didn't look completely pastel.

I think you've got me beat, I cheated by leaving the stock Hori yellow start/select buttons :p

You forgot one option: mail MadCatz, and they will send you a button along with instructions on how to swap it, and you won't lose your warranty as long as you only follow the instructions. That's what happened when my stick broke :)

Yes I can! I can tell if dust shaft covers are upside down too and if a stick is mounted at a wrong height just by looking at it -_-

Ppl I work with think I'm weird.

:)

Oh yea... this too...

No need for more pics, nothing new to see here... -_-

Thanks for the photos MarkMan. Kinda gheeto with the colored buttons...would have been cool if it had blue buttons. Still might pick one up if I become smitten with the game next week.

I did finally find my HRAP-SE. They are starting to show up for $250-ish, which is not much more than Aki or the FAIL NCS would have charged to get it to southern California.

How hard is it to mod a Hori FS3, and do the changes improve it a lot? Is the stock FS3 decent? Buy.com is selling the FS3 for $35. I've never owned a joystick before, i've always played at home on pads but i'm thinking about trying a cheap stick.

^ Good shit dude. Don't forget to post pics when it's completed!

Also, I'd use the sale thread but I'll probably get better results here.

Need: A Sanwa LB-35 Dark Hai (aka that sexy grey color on the VSHG) ball top

I'd order from LL or Aki, but I really don't want to wait that long for it. Anyone wanna help a brother out? Pretty please? :'(

Hey MarkMan: Is there any news of a patch from sony to make the TE/SE sticks compatible with PS2 games? I assume those of us who want it haven't made enough noise. Plus I don't think Sony cares about BC in the console anymore. Could be wrong. hopefully I am.

I play with a FS3 with stock buttons and it works fine. I put an 8 sided gate in it but it worked fine before that too. for $35 you won't find a better stick.

Anyone here order from gameshark store. I bought a TE stick (yay) a couple hours ago and the order is still pending. Just wondering if their processing normally takes a while or its a problem on my end.

Better than giving gamestop.com the $353 they wanted or making a trek to one of their crappy stores to give them an extra $26 in tax monies (sorry Arnold!). Gamestop.com doesn't even accept my Amex card...so I can't even get my $9 kickback at the end of the year. So pleased Amazon is offering them.

I just got might SE stick in today...

Eagerly opened the box and marveled at it... moved the joystick.

Is there any chance of the Tekken 6 stick bundle making it to the EU? Or even just the stick?

G35-Is that a Kaytrim? I have one too, I've not painted it yet though!
