I'm trying to figure out how much is too much for shipping. ;) There are some guys doing a big group buy and someone else in C-Bus wants to bring in a couple, so the stars are aligning. I just wish they were aligning for an Egret II or a Vewlix Clone. Can you feel the insanity?

Or you can do as I did and just order directly from Japan or Hong Kong. Cab was about $500 and shipping was about $750 (freight on container, freight forwarding, Customs, and Custom's Broker fees). Cost more and takes a good month to six weeks but you don't have to go through a group buy. Not for everyone, given the elevated cost, but it worked for me since I didn't want to deal with other folks. I'm eager to order a second one.

A preview for now. Got all the buttons and art on. Still have to paint and pop on the bevel.

Wow. That's really pretty. You've given me some art ideas for my HRAP. Definitely a sucker for retro art!

I switched to octogate because I couldn't get chun's stomp out consistently, I do actually prefer the square even for shotos and gief. You guys think it'd be ok for me to just dremel a notch for the down direction in a square gate?

There is a .PSD template of the Astro city cabinet floating around the net. I have a very similar top with pink+green buttons/stick. I'll look tonight to see where I found the template.

I bought a new TE stick and it has been acting so funky. The roundhouse button (and sometimes the stick) likes to stop working every other match. I have to unplug and plug the cord all the time. But it resulted in a lot of unfun matches. My other TE stick does it once in a while but not as frequent.

Tried using a different USB port?

This seems to be a relatively common problem unfortunately. There is a large thread about it on SRK.

Yeah, tried using a different usb port. No dice.

Sucks that it's a common problem. Damn u madcatz.

I love the stick and buttons though *sigh*

When I first got a stick (Hori EX2), I thought the square gate was terrible. Replaced it with octagonal immediately... however, I unmodded it when I sold it and kept the gate/bat top. Now that I'm using them on my TE, I love the bat top, but the square gate might've felt better for playing MvC2. I think I'd prefer octagonal for old school games like UMK3. :\ Not sure where I feel it should be for Tekken 6.

I did the same thing after I sold my EX2. I have only had my TE for about 3 weeks and have not changed my square gate to not void my warranty. I'm starting to prefer the square gate and don't really think I'll go back to a octagonal gate. I'm probably getting accustomed to the TE and the square gate because of the quality of the parts compared to the EX2.

A friend of mine (and myself if I am weak enough to buy a second one) is looking for the best way to buy a PS3 TE stick from France. I know we can find them quite easily on the net now, so maybe there are better stores than others for this kind of thing? One cool thing would be one that could send it via EMS, because UPS is really quite crappy and means all sorts of meany meany customs taxes for us.
Did any fellow yuropean GAFers order one recently?

Thanks and all!

Love the TE stick after playing with it last night, dashing in Blaz Blue is WAY easier that it has been on the SE stick. Still trying to get used to the sensitivity though, kept unintentionally doing moves and barrier bursting!

Imp + Cthulhu circuit boards for switchless multiplatform TE mod.

some parts:

After the dualmod I intend to make a VSHG-inspired theme for my TE

I dont see the point of people switching out to octogate and getting used to that because how are you going to play in an arcade which uses square gate?

Honest question (because I don't know), but is there still an arcade scene in NA? I know there are a few specialized joints splattered around Southern California but mostly it is just the Nickel/Party arcades I see. As far as using what parts to play, I'm not sure why some folks are concerned how others play. Use what you like, when you want to and others will do likewise.

I made this a while back. It's a bit chunkier than most sticks, but I prefer the height. The wood is Brazilian Walnut, all Sanwa, square gate. The base is clear perspex, but the wiring isnt all that, so I'll skip those pictures :lol
I have another bright pink sakura/cammie custom too, muxh smaller than this stick with chamfered edges, but I can't find the photos anywhere.

I guess arcades are pretty dead. One sprung up relatively close to me recently though.
It's mostly American wood cabinets with Happ sticks (Marvel 2, CvS, Super Turbo) but the console setups with SFIV use stock TEs

scotcheggz, beautiful custom!

There is supposed to be a cool one up in Ventura area called Doujin (or something like that). I do have friends who live in the sunset/hollywood area who live near an arcade but a lot of those machines are Korean or American. Last serious arcade I frequented was the on-campus arcade at Berkeley way back in the mid-nineties....doubt it is even still there :-( Even the twenty-four hour arcade located at the front of the Super K-Mart, that kept the kids occupied all night, is long gone.

There are a lot of arcades in socal that still see healthy amounts of play (for fighting games)...

Denjin
FFA
(those are probably closest to you)

Super Arcade/Japan Arcade in Walnut
Vid94 (video rental place, but has SF4 and T6BR)
Arcade Infinity

Any recommendation for arcades around Downtown Los Angeles?

The only two I know around Los Angeles is the one in front of LACC and the one on Broadway and 7th. But I have not been to any of these arcades in years.

Yeah, that is the one I read about. I was looking for local Cave machines and found that they had an Ibara. Simi Valley...close but a bit far. I still plan to head up there one evening with fifty bucks for some fun.

I have a question, do all PS3 arcade sticks work with the PC?
Will the Street Fighter 15th anniversary PS3 arcade stick work with the PC?

PS3 sticks are HID compliant, so they'll work on PC.

The 15th anniverasary stick is for PS2 and Xbox, not PS3

Oh thanks, do I have to download anything for it to work with the PC or do I just plug and play?

My Virtua high grade ps3 stick was just plug and play on the pc.

My Honda is getting messed up my crossups. :(

Honda has quickly become my best guy though, better than Dhalsim. I'm looking for an Alt...playing with Rufus, Dictator, Abel...hhmmmm. Need someone new.

I just recently started going there on Saturdays from around 6 pm until about 8 pm. It's actually pretty nice... A good amount of fighters and music games. I expected to have a bigger scene because during SBO qualifications, that place was PACKED

Mind the ugly temporary buttons, but here's the new front panel for my Egret II, made by Miss Shelby-

3796500124_950eb1d031.jpg

It's very much based on the real Egret II panel, but here's the trick: 2P Egret II panels aren't properly centered. Soooo.. they always look a bit off. It's crazy, but true. We decided to leave the "Egret II" part of it out since it really makes you realize how off the entire design is.

Can't wait for this weekend :)

I was thinking getting one of those imp boards. Let us know how it works out. BTW, what site carry's that that rugged looking balltop, I need one of those.

I'm new to this whole arcade stick culture and was wondering if the Mad Catz TE art templates will fit on the SE? And also whats the process for replacing the art on the SE?

The TE is way bigger.

Check a page or two back for links to changing the art on both sticks.

So nobody wanted to give any feedback...

Anyway my mod is done. Everything is now Sanwa and with custom art done by myself.

There are a few little bubbles in the art because it's basically just a big sticker. They are hardly noticeable though.

gamingnow.net and akihabarashop.jp carry the meshballs.

I love the murder black buttons and balltop. The Artwork came out official, to bad I hate Arukune(Ragna player)LOL.

Nothing too fancy. I got tired of seeing the ugly wear and tear on my hrap3, so I changed the art. First time I ever tried to do this, and it was pretty fun.
I ordered some new buttons and balltop, but they won't come for a while. Still, I think it looks pretty slick.

The arcade scene is practically dead near me. Also, I mostly play against close friends. Should I ever want to seriously play someone else, I'll go online (when I get some damned wireless).

Seems to be:

If you want to strike your opponent, you should let him strike at you
If your opponent strikes at you, he himself will already have been struck

Turtle! j/k, Awesome stick. I've been thinking about making a custom box out of wood. How hard is the Brazillian Walnut to work with?

Interesting, as that describes the core of footsies in a majority of fighting games. It's a nice reminder to have on your primary instrument.

I got SF4 PS3 yesterday... dual shock 3 definitely isn't cutting it. I called some local stores and found a Hori FS3 for $50 and a Mad Catz tournament stick for $150. Both are new. I think I'm gonna get the mad catz. Good choice?

Do you really need an answer to that?

yes
