K, I've got the mad catz hooked up. Motions are a little tough to pull off so far. I haven't had much success with ultras. Dual Shock 3 was easier. But I think I just need to learn this stick. Also it's not heavy enough.

Just give it some time. When I first used that stick it took me a good hour of messing around before I started to feel comfortable with it. Once you do though , going back to a controller just doesn't cut it. Mostly, when compared to a dual shock especially, it'll prevent the dpad thumb callus from forming , instead you'll just have sore wrists :P

Hey good point. I did pretty crappy just now but I think I might have to adjust my arm angle. I'll experiment.

So I was talking to an employee at Gamestop (yeah, i Know) and he said that they have a SKU in their computer system for the Tekken wireless arcade stick, outside of the $150 bundle that comes with Tekken 6. IIRC he said it was similarly priced to the current SE SFIV stick. Anyone else hear anything about this?

you probably need time to adjust to square gate... or you need to change the gate out for an octagonal one.

^Ok cool, thanks for the replies guys.

Got my GT-Y coming in this weekend, maybe then I will be able to pull of a combo haha.

this might help you with the square gate. to do smooth circular (360, half circle, quarter circle) motions you have to remember that the switch activates before you hit the edge of the gate. you can tell by the clicking sound it makes. so if you were doing a quarter circle, don't ride the edge of the gate, you can do it without touching the corner.

Which kind of gate is better?
no such thing as "better" man.

TBH - i thought i would be suited to octo - but i just played with my TE stick (unopened) for about a month now, i can use it properly.

whichever u choose stick with it. give urself a month - if you decide u cant pull of any supers then switch over to octo.

Japanese arcades use the same parts in ur te stick as standard...

Cool, I'll try and learn this. I can do supers/ultras, but I can't always pull them off on reaction or in a combo.

what kind of gate to US arcades use?

thats the thing i havent been to one in australia in ages so im not sure what i was always used to.

can u imagine how useless an octagonal would be in Mortal kombat lol

finished my latest mod!

is that tagers astral heat? hard to tell from the angle looks good!

thanks! I added the other pics I took to give a better idea of what it looks like, but that plexi is so clean that its like taking a picture of a mirror. Art really does a great job with his work and cares about it too.

Oh and its tagers 720 distortion ending. I had a mockup of using the end of tagers astral but it was all gray and I needed something with color to match those bright ass orange buttons.

Here's a photo story of my weekend. We from from this-

To this. I'll post better pictures and the details behind everything sometime this week, after I get it setup all nice with the front-end. I'm also thinking of starting a tumblr to track my progress on some games. I WILL finally 1cc Gun.Smoke. I swear :lol

Yes Boss! and _dementia - I saw you guys picked up the Neo Geo 2 Arcade Stick... What are your thoughts on it? How's the build, is it moddable? Would you guys recommend it to other people?

I'm thinking of using the stick for mostly BlazBlue and keeping my TE stick for SF4.

Sorry for all the questions, I like questions. :lol

Yeah! Awsome tip.
I learned how to ride the switches without hitting the gate while playing HD Remix with my SoulCal stick.

It's not a replacement for the TE, I'll tell you that. The Neo Geo Stick 2 is small, light and plasticy. Its small footprint makes the Neo Geo Stick 2 nice and easy to transport though. I imagine modding would be a real issue since the buttons are small and the case is far too slim to replace with a Sanwa or Seimitsu stick, much less Happ/iL, If you liked AES controllers, it's neat for nostalgia purposes, I suppose, but after being spoiled by build quality and parts of HRAP/VSHG/FSTE, it's not going to be a primary controller for me.
I would recommend you use your TE for both games, honestly.

Thanks for the response _dementia. Maybe I should stick to my original plan and get myself a HRAP3 and mod it so it can be used on both the 360 and PS3.

I think you should've cropped off the gauges... it being off center like that would drive me nuts everytime I see it. :lol

Yea if I go back and do another printing Ill prob spend more time and add the arc-system logo, chibi-tager and get a shot without the gauges. But Ive grown to like the goofy off center 0-64 meters :lol

Yeah, what _dementia said!

Just for novelty and folks who want the form factor or have fond, fond memories of the AES...more an extra stick and not one you'd only want to have. Also, a little pricey given import costs for what is essentially and EX2 class stick. I can't imagine wanting to mod this one, it would just be ugly then. It does have the extra four buttons outside of the original four which it spoils it (slightly) but it does not have the ungainly white Wii logo that was too big on that version of it. Extremely light so I'm adding some hefty weight to mine...making it the exact same weight as the Mad Catz SE. Pleased with it but I knew what to expect.

Definitely go for a HRAP3. Better yet, go for the TE since it is so cheap now!

Wow, Mr Jared! That looks like such a fun project. You must be pinching yourself seeing that thing in your place.

Am I to understand that Hori is releasing the seimitsu hrap for the 360 here in october!? Mind. Blown.

Markman: if that adaptor works lag-free I'll crap my pants!

Maybe it was anther one, but I remember someone saying it was just as good/bad as the others...

This one has been vouched for by the Korean SBO Street Fighter IV representative laugh. He is also the one that brought the beloved inpin to the fighting game community's attention.

I trust in him, but regardless will review this one thoroughly.

Based on his impressions, this one is already better than anything out on the market.

Is there any 360-to-PS2 converters out there that works flawlessly? Now that I've finally got a hot new Sanwa-modded FightStick SE I can't help to think I should use it with everything, everywhere (including my girlfriend, cd-player, toilet, washing machines, keyboard, t-shirt and bed).

Stick2.jpg

here's one i got awhile back from arcade in a box.

it was around when the guy running the site had to start using original art so i emailed him a quick thing i'd made for him to use. he offered to pay me commission for every person that used it, eventually i'd had enough to pay the amount i had for my stick, so i told him that was good enough for me.

my friend stumbled across someone who actually used the design and posted a picture of their arcade stick. it was really awesome seeing it in physical form.

The Inpin adapter is fantastic, and if i'm not mistaken, is the only PS1/2 adapter to come with both a PS button and rumble.

Be sure to test this new adapter with a Dualshock, Markman. I'm very interested in hearing how the buttons are mapped out.

Love the stick man, really cool! Did you have any trouble putting those buttons in?

Just got my artwork in my TE and replaced the buttons/joystick. I actually notice quite a different between the stock stick and the JLF I got, regardless of them both being Sanwa.

This artwork is completely custom and hand-drawn, something I did a few months back. Thought it would look cool on the stick, I love it!

*crosses fingers*

Hey Markman, my HAIS PS2->PS3 converter doesn't seem to work anymore. Is it not compatable with current PS3 firmware?

Looks certain a wired 360 controller has to be plugged in at all times with that adapter.

Guess i shouldn't really be surprised, but it is slightly disappointing.

Just initially, you can unplug it after it has the security chip signal locked on.

:)

_dementia: I'll check :x

2nd day with the TE stick... I think I prefer the american style bat stick to the ball kind. I'm getting better at doing moves on this though. I need to drop some habits I picked up playing with a d-pad.
