Okay, so my replacement stick arrived for my Madcatz SE, but my fucking GOD what kind of piece of shit screws did they use on the goddamn mounting plate?

I completely ruined the heads on two of them trying to get them out so now I need to order a new fucking mounting plate.

Is there a specific kind I need?

Thanks GAF.

I think I made a great choice getting the TE stick. I'm not enough of a stick nerd to where I could probably distinguish any difference in quality between this and the other high end retail sticks on the market, but it's definitely the most aesthetically pleasing one available.

If I'm gonna look like a huge dork by having this giant expensive fighting game controller on my coffee table, at least I've got a fucking rad looking one.

Also, it's rad that you can swap out the artwork, but it already looks great out of the box. I think I'll keep it like that.

Oh, and eventually I'll learn to play Street Fighter well with it too.

Thats an awesome side project Mr Jared, how much do those cabs run?

Anywhere between $400 to $1000. More common cabs like Sega Astro City's tend to be on the lower end, as do fixer-uppers. The Egret II was on the higher end, but it's also a more difficult machine to find, and mine was in great condition minus a few scuffs and bad attempts at repainting them.

So far everything in it is running great. I got the controls all sorted out, so now Im just waiting on a friend of mine to compile a special version of MAME and then it'll be time to figure out a front-end.

Oh, and I also have to figure out how to play SF4 with two-players... Im starting to think its an impossible dream.

This might be a dumb question, but is it possible to make a stick, with one USB cable, that will work with PS3 games and PS2 games played on a PS3?

The Cthulhu was designed as a PS3 stick PCB, and works with PS2 BC. The followup, MC Cthulhu (MC = Multi Console) would probably be a better choice if you ever want to use it with any other consoles (but not X360 - still need a PCB from a licensed X360 controller for that).

So the MC works with everything but 360?

EDIT

nvm.

I'm thinking about getting someone to make a stick for me. the MC board would be perfect, since I want to play PS3, PS2 and Gamecube games. Too bad it doesn't have 360 support.

I accidentally bought an LS-32 ( w/o the five pin connector) if anyone would want to trade me for an LS-32-01 or buy it outright for $26 flat so I can ship it to you let me know.

Unused...why oh why didn't I pick the 01 in Akihabara shop's drop down menu?

Just initially, you can unplug it after it has the security chip signal locked on.
I'm thinking of ordering one of these for my SFAC stick, but I'll probably await your final review (though I'm extremely amped about this, and it will finally get me to put Happ parts in it!). I have a request for a test. Can you see if you can use a wireless 360 controller plugged in through a Play & Charge cable? I don't have any wired controllers, but I have two Play & Charges. Curious if that's going to work or not.

Those don't work, it's only a charging cable, no data is transferred through it.

The TE has pretty much the best parts you can get out of the box

Hasn't that ship kinda sailed? Seems like everybody is already picking up TEs for sub-150 since they are everywhere.
That's what I thought, but then I remembered this tidbit
Combined with the fact they're inteded for Marvel, what are the odds they'll use Happ parts?

Well, looking at the intended date then it makes a bit more sense considering so many crazy sticks are hitting NA that month. It will be great to have something nice from Mad Catz, especially if it is branded.

Well, if anybody has the power to make a high-end Happ stick then it is MarkMan. TBH, I'm getting a bit fatigued of japanese-style sticks and it would be nice to have an old-school american-style stick with sleek modern design (with none of the Arcade In a Box bulkiness).

You can!

The TE stick isn't compatible with PS2 games correct? How about the PSN games, I'm thinking they're compatible?

PS1/PSN games yes, they work!

To 10k!

:D

Ya know, I have an artistic idea for a good TE template, just I'm not good at photoshop. The title of the template would be "That's so Pringles!" See where this is going?

3rd day with the TE, and I'm probably close to caught up to what I could do with a pad, at least at SF4. If I keep improving at this rate I'll leave the gamepad in the dust soon. Also I pretty much have the hang of japanese controls now. Even the square gate isn't really a problem.

Hay, I went ahead and made a tumblr for my cab so I can talk game progress and tech stuff. Feel free to follow it-

I still haven't had time to try and setup a good front end. I'm just sort of lazily using Mala at the moment. I need to make a plan of attack. So far though, Soft 15khz is working perfectly.
