really tempted to order an rap3 off amazon, but it's not like i play fighting games very seriously, and i don't know how much better it'll be than the entry level hori ps3 stick i've already got. still! so cheap! relatively speaking!

Me neither but I preordered 360 SF IV TE stick in hopes of taken the franchise a little more serious. I think it's well worth an investment considering the HRAP3 being so cheap with good parts.

The PS3 HRAP3 is now listed for $89 at Amazon.com for anyone looking to get a good deal on it. That's a drop of $10 from the original $100 price.

edit: Just checked and the Xbox stick is still at $129. Why the hell is Hori charging $40 more for the Xbox HRAP stick? They are identical, barring the system-specific home buttons and the like, right? Surely Hori doesn't think a headphone jack on the Xbox stick warrants an extra $30+ on the price over the PS3 stick. That's just ridiculous.

Glad to be of service.

I'm considering buying another one myself now. I was thinking of modding it to work as a Wii classic controller. Keep the buttons and stick where they are, but pick up a cheap Hori Wii stick and swap out the PCB into the HRAP3 housing and just wire the buttons and stick up to the Wii PCB. It sounds like it should work, but I really have no idea if it would.

Same. I haven't played SF seriously since SFII Turbo when I was a kid...I'm hoping to return to those days haha. I'm justifying the "investment" by saying I can use it on my pc AND I can use it with my XBLA shmups.

Ok I pre-ordered the PS3 HRAP 3, my very first arcade stick. Was thinking about getting the SF4 one but it was 60 bucks more, a game basically, and I'm a beginner so I probably don't need the best quality stick out there.

Hey I am thnking about getting a stick to play SF2HD and SF4 but I don't have the money for a Real Arcade Pro stick (I get raped by the shipping costs). So what do you think about getting a FS3 for those games? I know it's not the best stick but maybe I can make d ecent stick out of it by getting better parts?

Uh... if I'm not mistaken, Amazon does that for you automatically.
yep, you always get the lowest preorder price with Amazon

leehom's actions may have done more harm than good; now he or she has probably reset to a lower priority for shipment

don't blame Hori, blame MS

Not sure if anyone answered but Akuma001 does joystick modding. Haunts can vouch for him. And if you go on SRK there are probably a few more other individuals.

I played SFIV and Tekken VI for the first time today...and I couldn't do moves consistently since the cabs they had featured ball tops. I tried to be all delicate with it...but...it wasn't really working. You have to be so precise. It's going to take some practice.

Has anyone swapped out their ball tops for bat tops on HRAP3 or Hori EX2? I want to know if it provides a better experience?

Thank you very much... but I decided to trade my Hori for Mirror's Edge and just man up to pre-order the SFIV Tournament Stick :D

This shit is going to be so baller...I hope I can swap out a bat top on the sanwa stick

you can

i think sanwa's bat tops are made for the wider-shafted JLW sticks, so you'll need an adapter, but lizardlick sells them

Can't believe I preordered SFIV Tournament stick + SFIV X360 game. With that money, could have spent it on X360 Jasper to replace the warranty replacement original X360.

Welcome to the club! Did you get the collectors edition at least?

It came up? Wow I didn't know, sorry. Does the Street Fighter Anniversary Stick work on the xbox 360 and the PS3 though? :P

Nothing works on 360 & PS3 except a custom stick. google "arcadeinabox"

Thanks. Just pre-ordered it :D

Are there any websites that have compiled layout/button configurations for various fighting games? Particularly, VF5, DOA4, Street Fighter, and Soulcalibur 4? I realize that DOA4 and SC4 didn't have arcade releases, but I figure the layouts would be the same as the older iterations in the series.

Just need them so I can configure my new stick.

It's not too sexy but:
if your stick layout is:
XXXX
XXXX
(those being the 8 buttons common on many arcade sticks)
then

VF5
XPKX
GXXX
(Punch, Kick, Guard)
http://virtuafighter.com/wiki/doku.php?id=vf5:system_part_1#joystick

Soul Calibur
ABKX
GXXX
(A, B, Kick, Guard)

Street Fighter
lp|mp|hp
lk|mk|hk

dunno about DOA.

That probably would work, but IMO, why not save some cash and buy a T5 stick to mod. The only advantage the HRAP3 gives you is a JLF out of the box, but I don't think that's worth the extra expense, seeing as a JLF is about $25 and Tekken sticks can be found for $35.

That's exactly what I said to myself when making the purchase plus my brother will probably use it a lot more than I do, so it's not a waste if I don't use it as much as I expect I would. :lol

Microsoft licensing fees
PDM (headset) port
Newer tooling for control module

It adds up ;(

Damn I can't decide between HRAP3 and SF4TE.

I was set on the HRAP3 but this thread makes me want the TE stick. Bah!

Hello MarkMan

A quick question.

Are the gamepads and joysticks multi region?

I think it would be hard to find a Tournament stick in Australia. Certainly would be awesome if I could import a US 360 version.

Merry Christmas Neo Gaf

Merry Christmas, there are no region locks for peripherals/controllers!

Have fun!

Same here. I have the HRAP3 ps3 preordered on Amazon so it was only 90 bucks, but that SF4 unboxing was so sexy. I might change my mind.

Yeah, us Australian will have to import the TE Stick. Sounds like we will be getting the pads though.
