...oh this is my very first arcade stick btw!
I'm 25 years old and a bit nervous =/

Welcome to the next stage of greatness. Once you go stick, you'll never go back to the d-pad.

I'm actually looking to buy an arcade stick soon. This Mad Catz SFIV one is getting good reviews / impressions. But it's Mad Catz..... should I order it?

Markman will say it's the best arcade stick ever. But he's also on the team that's making it. Various other people who know what they're talking about are also raving about it, so I think the money is going to be well spent.

For the record, I am unbiased when it comes to arcade sticks. So even if I do have a hand in things such as this, I have no problem telling the truth ;)

Is there any way you guys are making a PS3 + 360 version of this in a single unit?

I think i'll be getting the 360 for SFII HD and SFIV but maybe there's a good PS3 fighter down the line. Oh what the hell I'll get another one.

Alright Mad CATZ SFIV TE Stick it is!

edit: February ?!? :(

MarkMan, can you confirm whether or not a PC can detect the PS3 SFIV sticks as controllers? i thought it was weird that ebgames.com mentions 360 SFIV sticks are compatible with PC games when they don't do the same for PS3 SFIV sticks, even though pretty much all my PS3-compatible stuff works on PC.

Yeah, it's been said a lot of times that it is. Both of them are.

ok, cool

Has anyone in Canada been able to find a retailer for preordering the SF4 TE FightStick? Or are we going to have to import from the States? EB Games doesn't have a fucking clue about the stick.

If any EX2 modders are looking to earn a few bucks, please PM me!

I have an EX2 but would love an 8 way gate and new buttons... I'm very busy and haven't soldered in years so I feel more comfortable outsourcing the job to a trusted GAFFER. Let me know, I will pay for shipping both ways, parts and (of course) labor!

Sorry about the other stuff in the pic, but you see that rusted thing up in the top of that picture? That's my first step into the world of Arcade Sticks...just bought it a week ago at a flea market for $1. I feel like the kid at school who buys all of his clothes at Goodwill, especially after seeing all of these new, pretty sticks. :lol

I've been collecting some fighting games recently and I finally found a converter for my PS3...so I'm about to take my first step into becoming serious about fighters.

After modding my HRAP3 with new Sanwa buttons and an 8-way gate, I've noticed that when I push the stick in the down direction it makes a slightly different, louder, and more pronounced "clunk" connecting sound than when the stick connects in any of the other 8-way directions. It's getting annoying, though I haven't noticed it doing anything to impede my play (yet). Is it possible the new gate isn't seated properly or something? I think I may pry it open again and see why it's making the sound.

I even put my HRAP2 side by side with it and pushed both sticks in all directions, and the HRAP3 definitely sounds different from the HRAP2 when I push down. The HRAP2 makes the exact same click-clunk sound when it connects in every direction. But moving the HRAP3 stick - it goes up *click* right *click* left *click* down *clonk (echoes)*.

It sounds so stupid but it's really getting on my nerves.

with our shitty dollar :( Anyway what sites would you recommended to import from?

The dollar isn't that bad. Its what 1 CAD = 0.80 USD?

Nothing you can really do about that to be honest dude. I'm sure with shipping you looking around 170 bucks which is roughly 200 dollars CAD plus another 90 for the SFIV collectors editon. So 300 bucks total!!

I'm going to go either Amazon, Lizardlick or eBay.

Who knows maybe some retailers here will pick it up, cross your fingers.

Let us know what the shipping costs are if you're going with Lizardlick.

I know, but a couple of months ago it was 1:1 :( Also, Amazon.com won't ship it to Canada, I guess I get it from gamespot.com hopefully their shipping is good

Alright so got my copy of TatVSCap today and had to quite because my thumb is way to sore. I just was wondering. I plan on getting a PS3 in the future and of course probably SF4. So with that in mind is there any stick that would allow me to use a PS2/3>GC converter to use it on the Wii and also the PS3? Do the PS3 controllers use USB?

Yes, PS3 controllers are USB.
If you want a WII/PS3 controller you need a PS2 stick (Hori Real Arcade Pro 2: SA is the best option) and use PS2 to NGC and PS2 to USB adapters.

Question (perhaps a stupid one): Can I use a US stick on a PAL 360? I guess it shouldnt be a problem but you can never be too carefull.

Yeah should have figured this. Probably the best way to go. Then I could use it on PC as well. :D

Alright, preordered my 360 TE stick. Any word yet on how moddable it's going to be? If it's got a square gate, I think I'll probably switch it out for an octagonal one.

Well, it is approved by one of the greatest non-Korean SF players ever. If I had the money, it'd be an insta-buy. :D

I'm just passing the message, I'm unbiased.

I think the SFIV sticks are okay.

The Street Fighter V ones are MUCH better.

I just imagine they won't get to SFV for another 20+ years if they end up going through the SFII process.By then I imagine you being the old wise arcade stick guru with a long beard and a house worth of sticks.:lol

Does the non TE SF4 stick for PS3 work with PS2 games and on the PC?

Also what buttons do the non TE version use?

Come on people read the fucking thread. These answers are in the last few pages.

Not sure if anyone answered but Akuma001 does joystick modding. Haunts can vouch for him. And if you go on SRK there are probably a few more other individuals.

I played SFIV and Tekken VI for the first time today...and I couldn't do moves consistently since the cabs they had featured ball tops. I tried to be all delicate with it...but...it wasn't really working. You have to be so precise. It's going to take some practice.

Has anyone swapped out their ball tops for bat tops on HRAP3 or Hori EX2? I want to know if it provides a better experience?

I had an idea stuck in my head that Valle wouldn't buy arcade sticks, he'd just play at the arcade. Is this his first one or something? :lol

I think with the move to 3D, it'll be easier for them to churn out sequels on a regular basis now. RE debuted in 96 and we're on five (six if you count Code Veronica). Hopefully, the game sells well and we're able to see a sequel in another year or two. I wouldn't even mind if they went the platinum hits or game of the year route and released an expansion to hold us for that time.

And even if they didn't, they've released two "new" SFs in the last year, so I'm ecstatic.

Alright, well I'm a total Fighting Game scrub. I mean I'm terrible. But I really want a stick for SF4. I'm going to try my hardest to actually be good at this game.

I'm gonna go preorder at gamestop tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Can't believe I preordered SFIV Tournament stick + SFIV X360 game. With that money, could have spent it on X360 Jasper to replace the warranty replacement original X360.

I think Evo went console a couple years back, so all of the top players probably have a stick. In the videos for Evo 2007 Afrolegends vs. David Sirlin, they're both using sticks.

No no no. You got that wrong. The Tekken 6 ones are the BEST!
