I thought the Seimitsu LS-32 couldn't be mounted on the HRAP3?

How did you do that Markman?

Will someone answer me this, do I want to buy the LS-32 or LS-32-01 for a HRAP3 or SF4 Fight Stick?

If you're talking about the picture I posted, it's just the Seimitsu Violet bubble top screwed onto the stock Sanwa JLF (I think). I don't know about actually getting a seimitsu stick in there, I think you have to change the mounting plate or something to that effect (not the guy to ask about this as you can tell :lol ).

No takers here for my arcade-in-a-box HAPP 360 stick, so I listed it on ebay (LINK). Minimum bid less than a buck, and I'm still happy to take it down if someone from here wants to make an offer.

I still don't get why every stick maker started putting on 8 buttons instead of six. Seems annoying more than useful. No game uses 8 primary buttons.

I don't get why people still complain about this...

Would you rather have the option there or not?

Simple as that. You don't like em' don't use em.

If you didn't know the DEFAULT SF4 layout uses all 8 buttons (3x kick and 3x punch mapped)

So it's not like the buttons have NO function at all.

you can mount a ls-32 on the HRAP3.

Go to this thread on SRK.

you have to buy that replacement panel, but then the ls-32 will mount on without having to mess with the bracket it comes with. Sounds like it is pretty straight forward.

An option that I never use, and an option that messes me up any time I try to use someone else's stick that has this "feature" just bugs the hell out of me.

The fact that they plop them on solely so people can then buy the stick and then REMOVE the extra buttons and put little round plastic covers in their stead, it seems to imply that vomiting buttons everywhere isn't really all that useful or desirable. (Not like the extra buttons are free.)

Wonderful "option". Glad it's the defacto standard. If there was some reason for it other than "OMG! More buttons!" it'd at least make sense.

Wouldn't bother me if every stick maker wasn't jumping onboard. Since they are though, it is becoming an obnoxious trend.

Sanwa OBSM Series 24/30mm Hole Plug

get some.

I have not used a stick on consoles before.

Was wondering of the Hori EX2 for 360 would be good for a beginner stick. Then go from there.

Probably be better off going for the lower end SF4 stick.

Hey MarkMan. This is Raven. Care to comment on the $150 Mad Katz stick? I was thinking of importing a japanese stick before I saw it and I'd actually be around the same price with shipping.

Will the TE stick work with Xbox 1 titles like SF: Anniversary or a downloaded Xbox original like Guilty Gear?

No reason why it shouldn't. The 360 sticks out now work on those.

I read the thread but I might have missed it. Is the StreetFighter 4 TE Fight Stick coming out in Canada? I went to EB today and they didn't have any idea what I was talking about.

A lot of people are wondering, but some people mentioned that Mad Catz may not bring them to Canada due to Quebec language requirements. MarkMan has been eerily silent about this particular issue as well.

I see. I might try and get a HRAP 3 then. I've seen them in stores at Pacific Mall in Markham Ontario.

I think its because its really limited, not because of the language. But I do wonder if the pad will be coming to Canada

How do I make a joystick like the Earthbound one in the OP? I've crawled through the links on the first op and all I could find was a guide for building a huge 2 player behemot.
Also, I play shmups more than fighters, any recommendation on the buttons/stick?

With regards to the 8 buttons, in one of the interview videos Seth mentioned that they're arranged so the inner 6 are curved, while the outer 6 are flat, giving players even more choice in terms of getting exactly what they prefer. More choice is never a bad thing, so I definitely don't want to see companies making 6-button sticks instead of 8-button ones.

I'm wondering how 'available' the TE sticks are going to be from play asia. At the moment they have them up as ready for preorder, but then again Ive heard rumours there will only be ~3000 made in total. And split that between North American retailers and importers and the odds must be pretty slim indeed.

I guess the only thing that eases my mind is that PA are usually good for closing preorders once their allotment is reached, true?

Yea sorry, we can't please everyone with this stick. But we're trying to hit the most players with the option of having 8. It is a lot easier to take out 2 buttons via button plugs than to drill two 30 mm holes into a metal panel, you get what I'm saying?

Plus with the way the SF4 stick is setup, as someone mentioned, you can have the left 6 for JPN style and the right 6 for ppl that prefer US styled.

Our 8 button layout at least has some purpose :)

Ah. The honor of paying for buttons I don't want or need. Then I also get to buy hole covers. SWEET!

Guess you can count me as told. :lol

Then don't buy the stick? Make your own :lol

I preordered my TE stick about a week ago now, contemplating trying to preorder another possibly.

Just to be clear, I was commenting on the general trend which I don't especially like. The point was not calling out the TE stick.

But yea, building my own stick is a far less convenient option. Easily the most reasonable course. I still think there should be at least one stick manufacturer that makes 6 button sticks. Regardless of the "LMFAOLOL! Just solder a bunch of crap, or open the stick and remove parts! Easy!!!!" suggestions in this thread.

Since it looks like the sticks won't make their way to Canada, I was thinking about making my own for PC/PS3 using the solder free PCB board at lizardlick.

However, I have a few questions about parts. And the housing.

I plan to purchase this housing from Norris Arcade Sticks when it's available.

PAINT_102-2.jpg

http://www.norrisarcadesticks.com/product_p/paint_102.htm

I was wondering if the following parts were arcade caliber, and would work with that housing.

Joystick - There seems to be two Sanwa ones listed. Not sure the difference, so I picked this one. Would this be ideal?

- Sanwa JLF-TP-8T Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable
http://lizardlick.com/images/for_sale/joysticks/jlf_tp_8t.jpg

------------------
Board - for reference - Toodles Cthulhu PC/PS3 Board
------------------

Buttons - From what I was told, both Sanwa and Seimitsu are both used in arcades. I will need 6 X 30mm and 3 X 24mm. I was wondering if both are good buttons? I know a lot of people use Sanwa, but I really like the look of Seimitsu buttons and saw some builds using similar looking ones. Is this true? Here are the buttuns I plan to use right now.

6 X - Sanwa OBSN-30 Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch

3 X - Sanwa OBSN-24 Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch
http://lizardlick.com/images/for_sale/pushbuttons/sanwa_obsn24_blue.jpg

I want to make sure these would work with the wood cab, and would also work with the PCB board. If Seimitsu are good quality, I plan to go with these.

Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch

Another question I have is, do the wires I need come with the parts? Or will I need to purchase all that separately?

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I'm wondering, is 3x Punch/Kick the same thing they have in Tatsunoko vs Capcom for the Wii when you use a classic controller? The R shoulder button by default I believe. If so then that's what I plan on using the extra buttons for :D

EXCELLENT CHOICE!!!! I posted pics of my Norris a week or two ago...absolutely love it. I would choose to go the path you are before buying the TE stick.

You want the Sanwa JLF stick. You could also go with the ls-32-01. Both fit perfectly in that case. (I tried both and as odd as it sounds I find the JLF better for qcf movements and the ls-32 better for dragon punch movements).

The toodles board is super easy to wire up. It comes with very clear instructions and should be a piece of cake.

I have Seimitsu buttons in my stick and like them a lot. I have never tried Sanwa, but can't imagine them being any better than what I have. If you like the looks of those better just buy them.

Either brand of buttons will work fine with the toodles board. No worries there.

The only thing you will have to buy are quick disconnects (most people say to get .110 for the buttons, but I had a hard time fitting them on because they are so tight. I ended up going a size up with .187 and they work great), some 22 gauge wire for the buttons, and a usb cord.

I think you will be more than happy building that stick. Beware though, when TMO lists the restocking date make sure you are around. The last bunch sold out in four minutes.

ps3 or 360? If ps3 you don't have to solder shit with the toodles pcb. Takes a whole 30 minutes to whip together...such an inconvenience.

i gotta agree with the other guy. i have an 8 button stick but never liked the extra 2 -- just don't like extra crap. i built my own with 6 buttons and have never regretted it. i don't use macros when playing on stick. button plugs are ugly.

I wish the toodles PCB was what I needed. (Still need a case etc for that tho.) I have a VSHG on PS3. Have a couple of ailing Hori's on 360.

I'm kind of tired people knocking the 8 button design, at first i was sorta against it since sf4 is only 6 buttons, but I did see what they were trying to do.

sf4.jpg

I love how they let you choose what layout you would like to play, even then, if you really hate those 2 extra buttons, whats stopping you from purchasing a button plug... put on another piece of artwork on that sucker and bam it's like they were never there.

edit: Is there any comparisons on the size difference between the SF4 FightStick TE vs HRAP and EX2 vs SF4FightStick.

8 button designs are smart for stick manufacturers because they can appeal to a wide variety of players. but as a single person, i just need one layout.

OOO

^^works fine for SNK style

How would Mortal Kombat Ultimate 3 work on it? I plan on purchasing it and maybe Soul Calibur for XBLA once I get my stick.
