8 button designs are smart for stick manufacturers because they can appeal to a wide variety of players. but as a single person, i just need one layout.

OOO
O

^^works fine for SNK style
Tis true, I play a shitload of SNK games like this with my VSHG.

I'm kind of tired people knocking the 8 button design, at first i was sorta against it since sf4 is only 6 buttons, but I did see what they were trying to do.

I love how they let you choose what layout you would like to play, even then, if you really hate those 2 extra buttons, whats stopping you from purchasing a button plug... put on another piece of artwork on that sucker and bam it's like they were never there.

edit: Is there any comparisons on the size difference between the SF4 FightStick TE vs HRAP and EX2 vs SF4FightStick.

THANK YOU.

lol.

Or what I'm hoping....that in Street Fighter 4's Option menu

you can choose to set the buttons to N/A aka not available like some fighters do.

Markman...you played the home versions...can you confirm if this is available?

My only gripe with the TE/Fight stick is the layout of the buttons... I wish they would've mirrored the Saturn pad layout as it is the exact default button layout...

Of course you can switch out the buttons

You forgot about Tekken, GG, Blazeblu, VF5, Soul Calibur and DOA4's layout :D

Does anyone know of any good stick holding technique videos? I am failing miserably with any qcf x2 supers facing the right side (me on the left, opponent on the right)

Not from Markman, but from last page:

His question was which size, though, that response is a bit vague (since it says "24/30" :p). Assuming the buttons are going to be similra to the HRAP, it'll be 30mm for the primary 8, and 24mm for the start/select. The ones I'm not 100% sure of are the start/select.

Put in my pre-order for a TE stick the other day. :D Can't wait! It's my first stick since the el cheapo genesis stick my brother and I shared when we were little.

Whatever you find most comfortable/effective.

I, personally, hold the stick something like a wine glass, with the shaft between my pinky and ring finger.

Ugh, how do you play like that. Insane!

I can't tell if the cover plate on the Regular Stick is plastic or metal.
I know the TE is metal, but I was wondering if the regular stick is all plastic housing, or if the cover is metal.

Markman, any way we could get those art templates before the stick comes you? I really want to make my own art for this bad boy. Can't wait for the inevitable "Offical GAF SFIV TE stick art thread"!

That is my relaxed form, when I get tense I switch to between ring and middle but yeah most people will have a different answer.
It depends on comfort.

Seriously :lol To each his own, I guess. I hold it with the shaft between my middle and ring finger, my index and middle finger cupping the ball, with my palm perpendicular to the ground.

Aka, pretty standard, but boy was that a dirty explanation.

Describing arcade sticks has a tendency of doing that.

I have the same problem. It's just about acclimating to Japanese sticks. I'm too used to Happ bat top sticks...so it's taking me awhile...SRKs and supers are still a bit of a problem...but everything else comes out perfect...it also depends on the game...if it adheres to strict inputs...

I forget if I've posted these here before...

... A custom 360 stick for the impending release of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou! Also works really well with Senko No Ronde.

The extra row periodically messes up my inputs, so I'd say that yes, they do.

If only there was some way to make your fingers punch the buttons you wanted them to... if only.

Yeah I have a way. I buy a six button stick so I don't have to mess with two pointless extra buttons. Seems easy enough to me. It's also apparent that it's not as simple as you pretend it is to just not ever hit the extra useless buttons. That's why people constantly remove the two extra buttons and slap in those fugly hole covers in their place. (If it didn't also mess with their execution, they wouldn't be removing those two buttons in the first place.)

So if you don't like it, don't buy it.

So if MarkMan and MadCatz fail me and I don't get the TE stick I preordered, is the HRAP3 on amazon a competent alternative? It doesn't look like it has true Sanwa parts, but what's there is high quality?

It has a Sanwa stick, but clone buttons. It uses quick disconnects so swapping the buttons is also very easy.

So does anyone know much about the SFIV TE stick for the 360? I'm curious about two different things:

1. How much does it weigh?
2. How long is the cord?

Start and Select/Back on the TE are OBSF24 (24mm)... You're right!

I will upload it/make it available in Feb. Before the stick comes out in stores.

6.5 lbs, same as Virtua Stick High Grade.

Cord is 4m long.

The fuck would I have to do with failing you and you not getting a TE stick?

If you don't get one that's your problem. It's not my job to make sure you get one.

Relax, I'm sure he wasn't serious with that phrase. At least not in the "take this literally" way. :D

I'm just teasing~

I'll definitely put the blame on MadCatz for reals, though. No reason they shouldn't alter production amounts based on preorder data.

I know you were teasing btw :)

But really, it is not MadCatz fault either. Stores should know how to base preorders off. They know how much they order. They should NOT go over that.

We deliver what they order.

If the orders went way above the 3k limit would they be fulfilled? Say 10k preorders for just the 360...?

MarkMan, can you say anything about the warranty on the TE stick yet?

Also, I don't know why anybody who considered buying the TE stick didn't reserve one at Amazon when they had the chance. They don't charge until it ships and you can cancel anytime. That's what I did, with the intention that I would cancel if I was disappointed with the CES showing.

See, the thing is, I wish I had faith in gamestop...but well, they're gamestop. I would -hope- that they would cease preorders when they knew they couldn't fill anymore, but well..it's gamestop.

The reason I bring it all back to madcatz is this. Let's say that gamestop gets an allocation of 2000 units (number pulled out of my ass, btw) Let's say they get 5000k preorders because gamestop is too lolz to stop taking preorders. MadCatz -should- be like, "Okay, we aren't making enough, let's make the production amount higher so we can fill that 5000k" instead of "Sorry, only 2000 of those customers are actually getting the unit they preordered"

UC1 said:
I appreciate it, but that isn't going to work. That's the HRAP 2 layout, I'm looking for the official Vewlix/Madcatz one.
The plates follow a different button arc - the HRAP2/3/EX sorta mirrors an Egret II cab with the Fierce/Roundhouse buttons arcing lower than the Strong/Forward ones. The Madcatz one mirrors a Vewlix cab which Fierce/Roundhouse are level with Strong/Forward. It isn't like the Sega/Agetec layout though because in they don't line up vertically.

So MadCatz should have to make more than they planned because Gamestop is incompetent?

Well, thats why we told them they were limited runs in the first place, amirite?

---

AZ Greg, I'll mention the warranty stuff soon, sorry, I don't have the documents in front of me.

Any idea if there will be another production run? If not yet, will you be told if there will be?
