Hi, I was considering buying one of the standard FightSticks ($150 for the TE version is way out of my price range, and I figure someone like me who's had literally zero experience with Japanese arcade sticks probably couldn't tell much difference anyway.), and I had some questions I've been having trouble findings the answers to. This would be the first arcade stick I'll have ever bought, so I apologize if any of these are really obvious.
1. If I was to get the PS3 version, would it work well on my PC if I just plugged it in, or would I have to install some kind of special driver first? Would it be detected and usable with just about anything that use a gamepad the way it works when I use a PS2-to-USB adapter with my DualShock 2 controller? Also, is there a way to somehow use this with a PS2 or Wii (in case of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom)?
2. How long is the USB cable?
3. What is the warranty?
4. Regarding the quick disconnects, I found a
video on Destructoid of the TE version being opened. It looks like the cables can be removed from the ends of the buttons, and the old button can just pop right out and new one put in the same way. Am I correct? Can the non-TE version also be opened and modified this easily? Also, I assume that since this is shown in what appears to be a promotional video from Capcom that this would not void my warranty?
5. The clear plastic on the underside of where the joystick would be is the restrictor plate, right? And it's a square restrictor, right? Now, I found
this video on the Lizard Lick Amusements site showing how the restrictor on the Sanwa JLF can be changed between square, octagonal, and circular. Can the restrictor plate on the non-TE version be adjusted in the similar fashion, and if so, does it need to be removed from the unit first? If not, which restrictor would be good to buy if I wanted to go with an octagonal gate? There are a lot listed on the Lizard Lick site.
6. Can the artwork on the non-TE stick be removed and replaced as easily as the Destructoid video suggests can be done for the TE version?
7. If I was to replace the joystick and buttons with Sanwa equivalents, would you say that would put it on the same level as the TE version minus other functions on the rest of the unit itself?
8. I see a lot of talk about the supply of the TE version being very limited. Is this also true for the standard version?
That's all the questions I can think of for now. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. And MarkMan, nice job to you and your team for actually getting me interested in buying an arcade joystick in the first place.
