NO!

an 8-way SQUARE gate is NOT the same thing as an 8-way OCTOGONAL gate.

don't be confused. I own both.

I realized that myself a few minutes ago when I finally opened my TE stick. I just emailed Lizardlick and asked if it wasn't too late to switch my order to the octoganal gates.

noob question: sanwa/seimitsu button combo... yay or nay? I'm thinking of using two clear seimitsus for the right-most buttons. any reason why I should avoid mixing buttons?
The Sanwas are easier to depress and don't need to be pushed as far to activate as the Seimitsus, so the buttons on the right will feel different. Also, Sanwas are more convex whereas the Seimitsus are nearly flat, another difference in feel.

So I'm starting to think of how I want my PS3 SE fightstick to look when I tear it up in a month or so. I really REALLY dig the clear Seimitsu buttons that are out there (even though they're all nut versions, not snap-ins, which means more work...) but I'm wondering how it'll feel going from the "Sanwa" buttons with their big bump to a flatter button. But if I get a bubbletop for the JLF I want to throw in, I'd want everything to look similar. ...Just how much less sensitive ARE the Seimitsus vs the Sanwa buttons?
There are Seimitsu snap-ins that are clear. Check akihabarashop.jp. Also, I believe the Seimitsu screw-ins aren't as large as the Sanwa ones, so you don't need to file them back anyway and they will be almost as easy to install (apart from manually turning the nuts).

For those of you who cancelled their FS SE orders, are you regretting it yet? SE's are as hard to come by as TE's now. Even though I was able to snag one at my local Fry's I wish I had kept my Amazon order open. I'm hoping these will get re-stocked somewhere down the line with the fixed washer.

I'm only regretting that I didn't put my SE stick up on eBay before returning it to LameStop. It's funny, I couldn't even get $140 for it on craigs with Seimitsu parts installed.. but stock ones are selling for that amount on eBay.

ugh

Other than that, no. I have two TE's on preorder, one of which is 100% (and will likely be re-sold), and I also have two Death Smiles HRAPs on the way.

Now, if only I could find purple PS-14-K's... I don't want screw-ins. :/

Does the VSHG have a different gate than the Offical SF4 sticks?
I have some problem doing Ryu's super and ultra.
Is the Offical SF4 stick better for that kind of thing?

Looks like my EX2 is dead. Up, down, left, LT, and RB all stopped working. I won't be playing any fighting games on my 360 for a while. Now I just have to hope my order with Buy.com for the SFIV TE is actually filled.

Finally...
:D

I didn't see this here, there will be more Tournament Editions, rejoice!

GamingBits: Will the Official Street Fighter IV FightStick be available in the future (March '09) or are there no more plans to produce them?

MadCatz: This is a common misconception. It is indeed true that the original plan was to limit the manufacture of these products to a few thousand units but after it became obvious how strong the demand was, we are now doing everything possible to increase manufacture. It is our aim to ensure that every gamer who wants a Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition WILL be able to purchase one. Stores will be constantly replenished over the coming months.

By the way, how hard was it for people to cancel their Capcom shop orders? They've charged me for my TE Stick order but it's obviously not coming anytime soon. Amazon's order will be here next month so I don't want my Capcom order anymore. Do I have to call them up and stuff?

Has anybody received confirmation from MadCatz regarding the wallscroll they're giving out for those whose preordered TE sticks were delayed at Gamestops?

Damn I really want a Hori Real Arcade Pro EX for my xbox 360. I can live with the price (like 179 US$), but the damn shipping goes up to like 86 US$!
Can't seem to find any stores in europe that have it in. :(
whatsa man gotta do to be able to play some sf4 with decent control :(

f0nz0, Chad at lizardlick has been very busy. Currently he's behind orders about 2 weeks, and going threw 500 emails last I heard. So he didn't forget about you, just give him time.

Yeah I have the buttons and can feel the slightly stronger resistance Seimitsus have (I actually thought the Sanwas were broken they were so loose), but in actual gameplay I don't expect this to be crucial. Unless, of course, I'm talking out my ass... am I?

This is good news. Should've been done (officially) a few weeks ago, but good to hear.

Has anyone else not received your TE stick yet?

The Game Crazy I preordered from was told by their distributor that a lot of the fighting sticks ($79.99) have been reported as defected and so they were recalling TE sticks to double check them before sending them out. Therefore, the shipments have been delayed. However, there is no timeframe on when they will go out.

Oh, this appears to be with the PS3 sticks, not 360. They received the TE 360 sticks last week (when they were supposed to be released).

I haven't seen any official announcement from MadCatz on this.

I've had some issues with the sensitivity of the Sanwa buttons on my TE. I'm re-training myself to keep my fingers arched when hitting all three punch buttons, because I occassionally activate the middle kick button with the knuckle of my index finger.

They're REALLY sensitive. It takes very little pressure to set it off.

So am I the only one that prefers HAPP sticks and buttons or is it just that you can't find a stick that uses them commercially now?

Nah, you're not the only one...I love Happ sticks and buttons, but can't mod them into my Fightstick SE so I went w/Seimitsu buttons and sticks.

buttons: yes
lever: no

I just went for it... waiting for the TE is agonizing and I figure this should be just fine. I used the $20 credit they gave me for the TE delay, so it actually works out pretty nicely. I'll keep my TE preorder for now and see how it goes.

The PS3 HRAP3 is in stock as well for $99.99. You people looking for sticks would do well to jump on these while they are available, which surely won't be for long. The HRAP3 is a better stick than the HRAP EX, if only for the easily-swappable stick compared to the soldered stick of the EX and for the turbo buttons absent from the EX.

Yes, I like mine very much.

I hadn't planned on swapping out the entire stick, but is it easy to change the gate to octogonal? I have Sanwa/Seimitsu buttons waiting to get mashed and a bat top to add... I should be good to go, right?

nah, both have the same kind of gate. if it doesn't feel good to you, pick up an octogonal and see what you think. it's only $5 (lizardlick or that japanese place akaribashop.jp or something).

Yeah the gate is held in place by four tabs and clips off if you wish to replace it.

I'm a stalwart supporter of square gates though. Mine is stock.

Thanks for the heads-up; they weren't in-stock last night. $4 overnight Prime shipping ftw!!

I'm interested in making this more of a project stick and then keeping my TE stick stock whenever it shows up :(

...and as an owner of both, I say both are very manageable.

the octogonal means you can push your stick all the way to the edges and it'll feel pretty natural. especially those circular motions. on the other hand, it being circular can sometimes mean that it's hard to find those corners when you're looking for that quick and confident down-away block or snap the end of a dragon punch motion with confidence.

Bought and thanks for the heads up. Only 9 bucks for overnight shipping as well :D

I mostly play charge characters in FGs so I find octagonal gates absolutely horrible.

Should I be worried that the ship date for my PS3 TE stick still shows Feb 25th on Amazon even though I know it's delayed? A lot of people posted yesterday that their dates changed and mine seems frozen in time.

Mine is frozen on the 25th as well. And I got the gift certificate a few days back. I'm not expecting it for another two weeks but *just mabye* it might go out today:lol

Ok, so there are some indications the PS3 TE sticks have been delayed.

Was there some sort of official announcement from MadCatz or Capcom?

Amazon sent out emails to a bunch of us with gift certificates to appologize for the delay (they told me one week but some were told two).
