I got 2 TE sticks back when the first major shortages were happening, you just gotta check your local ebgames every week. I happened to call one that was sold out for weeks, the following week the girl had 3 in stock so I went and got them right away.

You can have your local GameStop request it from the distribution center now. A couple of weeks ago, I went into a GS store that was a bit out of the way and thus I usually don't visit, and found they had two SEs (one for each system). I asked about the TEs, they checked and found another story a couple of states away that had it, called that store thinking of asking them to ship it, and was told to just request it. I put in a request, and about a week or so later, I had a X360 TE waiting for me to be picked up. Didn't even have to put any money down to request it either. I don't know if it applies to the Canadian EB stores, but it's worth a try.

As for a dual-mod with the PS3 TE being the starting point, it's definitely doable and doesn't seem to be too much of a hassle provided you can solder, but the 360 w/ MC Cthulhu does have other advantages such as PS2 BC and ability to work with a lot of older systems. The reason I bought the 360 version for my second TE even though I'm going PS3 for all multi-platform fighters is that I wanted to get it for TvC on Wii and some older PS2 games.

So weird to me that the 360 stick has fewer features and costs more. Cost of SE vs. SA parts? What's the story on BC for these two sticks, particularly the PS3 one?

The actual part costs should be about equal, or at least close enough to not matter especially in the quantities Hori would be buying them at. The difference is that licensing costs on 360 is much higher - the PS3 can accept standard USB input devices. I'm sure the companies still pay Sony a fee to be able to say "designed for PlayStation 3" on the package, but it's perfectly possible for someone to create PS3 controller PCBs on their own (e.g. the Cthulhu).

And the HRAP3SA should work with PS2 BC.

I've never owned an arcade stick before...but god damn this stick is sexy as hell. Wow.

:lol :lol :lol :lol

Another one bites the dust.

I have to clean my stick, it's getting a bit dusty

Oh shit! PS3 stick is supported on Windows 7 at least, with no driver download needed! Yeaaaaah!

Time to try out SF IV. This is gonna be my first experience with an arcade stick. Wish me luck!

don't ride the gate!

What does that mean? :o

Having a bit of trouble doing quarter circles and such, but I'm sure it'll come with time.

why are you having trouble doing quarter circle motions? does it keep getting 'stuck' in the corner?

Naw...I'm just not used to doing the proper motion. Either I'll start on a corner instead of straight down, or I'll end in the bottom or top corner. I usually get it, but it's hard doing QCF 2x for the specials, especially.

The stick is flawless though. No sticking at all (at least that I can tell), and the directions read perfectly.

I also suck at doing Down -> Up+Right. I'm much better on the left side of the stick, which is the opposite of my situation on a dpad.

edit: alright I'm getting the QCF quite well now. This is awesome. :D

YB, you still into cinematography?

Btw, MarkMan, just want to give you a shout out as to how awesome the XB360 Fightpads are! Finally got one in my area and it is GAMING BLISS playing with this pad. Closest thing to a Saturn pad on the 360. Love it! Great job MM and MC!

Thanks!

Is anyone here going to EVO?

Man I wish I could. Not that I'm any good but I'd love to take it in.

By the way, MarkMan, I just want to take a sec to thank you as well, for how awesome my SE stick is and also for making me realize just what I'd taken pictures of at conference last year. I've learned a lot about sticks and gotten back into fighters and I owe it in large part to you.

EDIT: Is there going to be anything cool this year? ;D

So my PS3 fightpad died, and now i'm considering getting a stick.

What is the difference between a hori hrap and a sf4 TE? I see the TEs around a bit, but i'm a bit wary of madcatz now that the fightpad died randomly

Madcatz have had lot of defects with the SFIV fighting sticks, the HORI fight sticks are much better quality.

Is their any place I can get a BLAZBLUE Hori arcade stick for a good price?

Ebay is probably the cheapest place right now... X_X

I think someone was trying to sell one off on neogaf awhile ago? SPEAK UP IF U STILL HAVE IT!

Thanks for the kind words! Also, yea! EVO is going to be awesome. I really wish all fighting game fans and arcade stick enthusiasts could go. You see the most awesome shit there....

Just noticed NCS lists the little KoF sticks As arriving on July 30th. Arg, KoF streeting too soon...haven't even gotten to play BlazBlue yet. :-(

Aki reopening Friday. Meshballs get! Anybody have any ideas on a cool color buttton scheme for the SE? Something classy, not garish?

Oh yeah: I had the extra BB stick for sale. Listed it here and on the buy/sell/trade thread but nobody bit so I sold it on eBay for $170 to get the $155 I spent back.

Yessir. In fact, Im currently getting ready to swap out the art on my TE stick. Here's what I got so far-

http://i30.tinypic.com/ace7gi.jpg

Buttons and stick will be stock since I don't have time to replace it, but I'll paint the edge something appropriate.

I'm also thinking of recreating the LittleBigPlanet logo, but instead, making it say "LittleBigThighs."

And replacing the trees that dot the "i" into the outline of a baked turkey :lol

Just a little heads up, akihabara will open on the 10th, 9am EST. IF any of you fuckers get a mesh balltop and I don't. I'll kill you.

Well at least most of those (except the last one) seem to be DOA cases. As long as there's no running defect across all their sticks.

If ever my TE stick breaks, I hope MadCatz will cover it.

What is that? No clue. :lol

I would suggest the TE stick to anyone who doesn't want to do any type of modding/sodering/etc. The SE is just too small for my big hands, but the TE is perfect!!

It's a bliss playing with it!!!

It is one of those ridiculous graphite-like ball-tops that make your stick look like one of those obnoxious speed-racer converted Civics that tailgate you on Southern California freeways. It does seem to go well with the HRAP3 so I'm gonna give one a shot.

EDIT: beaten.

Updated my HRAP3-SE with an all red scheme. The idea was to get it in sync with its all white SA counterpart. Not really sure if it looks better. I wouldn't dare touch the two Hori 360 SE/SA sticks with their glorious colorful buttons but this one seemed OK to do it to. What do the pro-GAFers think, foolish change?

Also, got my buttons for my BlazBlue stick mod but I'm heading to San Francisco for the Silent Film Festival so won't be able to get to that one for a week.

I think it's an improvement... much more coherent.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm keeping it that way. Might see what it looks with a white start and select. Also, kinda retains continuity with that really rare one MarkMan has (below).

It's an improvement, but honestly, I still don't think it looks good. The HRAP 3-SA is so classy looking to me because the white buttons fits so well with light colored top plate - the entire top is just white and looks great set against the black base. Red buttons, on the other hand, make it look like just a customized normal HRAP 3. I also really dislike the buttons being two-tone. The HRAP SE with the white base is a bit better, but I still would've preferred it to not have the black.

All true. It is a no-brainer that they should have gone with the white base and grey top-panel that is on the RAP SE...and it would have fit nicely with the exquisite EX-SE. But is is what it is...gotta make the best of the situation!

I'm actually not much of a fan of the HRAP3-SA. So boring. I've never felt compelled to use mine and it just sits in the box. This one does feel a bit classier...and it must be said that photos don't really do it justice...much better in person.

Oh well, this one really is pointless anyways as there are no shooters on the PS3! On to the next one...

What's the actual arcade setup for buttons? The placement like in the SF4 TE, or the Hori sticks? I'm guessing the latter. Just curious.

Ok so I got my first arcade stick which is the Mad Catz Fightstick SE.

Its good otherwise but the square button is really sensitive. I mean so sensitive that even slightest touches to it register. :\

You'll hate sanwa buttons then...

I don't really hate it because it's so sensitive but it's weird because other buttons aren't that way. And it also registers the button when you accidentaly touch it from the side. Which happened to me in the first hour I played multiple times.

Well it's something to get used to I guess. :P

Man...I'm at work and I just keep thinking of playing with my new TE stick!

Damn you arcade stick and fighters! I've never known you until now...why must you disrupt my life!

So anyways...what's the difference in betweem Seimitsu and Sanwa buttons? Are ones better than the other? Or do they just have a different feel?

Also, my friend was wondering...the stick itself (as in the 8 directional stick), does it have the electrical components in it? As in, is it the one that has the gates that control how the stick functions, or is that component tied right onto the board? What about the buttons?

Usually in the case of regular controllers, all of the electrical components are tied into the board, and the buttons just act as a depressor to close the signal or something like that. I figured it might be different for arcade sticks.
