Just curious but why would you avoid? It was my first fight stick ever and thought it was pretty good. I haven't got my TE yet so I can't judge the differences myself yet. If it really is a lot better, I'll be in for a treat.

You can definitely tell a difference in stick/button quality, and the base is way too small to be comfortably used, either on a table or your lap.

my $2.49 TE finally shipped yesterday and looks like its coming in today! :D

For anyone interested, Amazon has a trade-in promotion ending July 18, 2009.

Submit a video game trade-in order with a total value of $50 or more in our Video Games Trade-In store before July 18, 2009 and in addition to your Amazon.com Gift Card, you'll receive an extra 50% off toward the purchase of a single video game or accessory in the Video Games store.

I traded in some old games for $52 credit and also got 50% off the HRAP3SA (preorder). The stick is $120, but I ended up paying nothing out of pocket. (also used ECA 10% off discount).

I just got the ex 2 hori stick I ordered

I basically have to relearn all my muscle memory for stuff but so far it's already easier for several things.

I feel the opposite. I prefer a smaller stick. Unless you're morbidly obese, I don't see how one would have difficulty playing with this on their lap.

SF4 TE stick is the perfect width for me. I'm fairly small, 160lbs...but sitting comfortable, the stick goes from the middle of my left leg to the middle of my right leg. I'd imagine with a small stick you'd need to sit with your legs closed completely, or just support the stick with your crotch (yeah baby).

iam thinking of buying a Mad Catz PS3 Arcade FightStick but im just not sure. Ive never played with a acrade stick befofe and iam not sure if the mad catz stick is worth £52.37 for me? I am curently playing with a Mad Catz FightPad and acutally like it .. BUT i find it rather difficult to do 360 moves..

please help me decide should i get a stick or not? Is the madcatz stick ok or are there any known problems?

PS3 Hori Fightstick
I would probably avoid even though it's cheap

SFIV Fightstick
Good stick and can swap parts out easily

or an HRAP 3/SF IV TE if you want to spend a little extra
I've been thinking about getting a stick lately but I'm not sure which one to get (or if to get one at all).
I've never played with a stick before so I'm not sure if I'll even like it. My options are the Hori stick for €51, the Madcatz streetfighter IV stick for €80 or the Madcatz TE for €140.
I think the TE is pretty much too expensive for casual fighting game player like me so it boils down to the following question:
Is the €80 Madcatz stick worth the extra €30?

I have a friend who has both the TE stick and arcade stick. I prefer the TE stick since it's just larger and feels more comfortable but the normal arcade stick isn't too shabby itself. :O

it's not just area, it's also weight. The Fight Stick is too small and too light to stay in once place, especially when used on lap. I'm about as far from obese as possible (5'11, ~125 lb), and I much prefer the TE for lap use.

To each his own.

untitled-4.jpg

Perfect size for play and for storage.

I've never used a TE stick though. I'm sure I'd prefer it for other reasons, but it's a little too wide for my liking based off of photos.

I'll agree with you on your lap but I play on my desk and it's perfect. As far as button/stick quality I've modded mine with Sanwa parts for less then the price of a TE so to each his own.

I'll be jumping on the HRAP EX SE bandwagon..i want a second stick and im curious to see the difference between sanwa and semitsu

I've got two of the Madcatz SF4 SE sticks, but the one I've been using to play BlazBlue non-stop has started to show signs of wear (the joystick feels looser and the buttons are starting to get stuck sometimes). So, I ordered some Sanwa parts that are going to arrive tomorrow so I can mod my stick. I'll post pictures once the mod is done!

I'd highly recommend to anyone *thinking* about going for an arcade stick to just go for the ones made with arcade parts, whether its the Madcatz SF4 TE stick or the HRAP or whatever. Anything made with lesser parts is just not going to hold up to prolonged daily use.

Nice, I'm doing the same. I need a 360 stick anyway and I want to see the difference between brands.

Might cancel my HRAP3-SA pre-order if the new MadCatz TE stick is due around then....

i finally decided that i dont care about some games that i'll never play again so i traded in like 6 games i didnt need and didnt get that bad of a loss on the trade in for
though i got $14.50 for sciv despite payin $10 for it :lol
btw u shouldve gotten an eca code to stack with the 50% off code :D

Yeah, I was thinking about subscribing for the eca code but that wouldn't do anything for this purchase as I'd be spending $15 just to subscribe. Could have got it for something like $4 if I already had the discount.

Just waiting on my code to be sent to me. I shipped my games days ago so I have to be coming up to the 10 day period.

Dude.. awesome choice in art, Toku.

My Lizardlick stuff still hasn't come! So I'm thinking about just calling them up to cancel, and just keep the stock Sanwa stick and buttons (only problem I had with them was the colors) and just put the custom art on mine. I'm actually starting to warm up to the stick's square gate at this point.

so ups came by like an hour ago and i expected to get my TE...instead the guy delivers something for my cousin and tells me theres a package for me too but i'll come back later if i find it......

Nice, I really like the look without the bezel.

Yeah, loving the full panel. I'll probably never go back now :lol and thanks Dimmu. I want to get 2 read buttons to align with the blood (one button top right, another lower left). Then maybe a meshball top or just a plain black one.

you cant go wrong either way..if you have a TE already you migh as well just get the HRAP3..unless the button layout is an issue..plus i think mad catz finaly caught on to the fact that people want these things.. im sure they'll stock the new ones better then the original so you can always grab one down the line

Who the hell is this Mark guy!

Rumour has it he's some kind of super hero and/or spy. Whoever he is, he should definitely get some info on the Tekken 6 Hori Stick.

...pretty please?

I'm thinking of buying a TE Stick and buying online is a sort of last option. Does anyone know where too buy a stick in Toronto?

Gamestop/Ebgames in Hamilton still gets them in from time to time so I imagine it'd be the same in Toronto. Just ask around at local retailers.

I found an online store that sold the PS3 MadCatz SE stick for €75 shipped so I went ahead and ordered it. It should arrive on Saturday.
This will be my first stick so needless to say I'm really curious just how bad I'll be initially. :D

Would the SE be pretty easily moddable even for a guy who can just barely operate a screwdriver? I'm definitely interested in giving it some original flavour at some point.

Yeah, it's pretty cake. Everything in the stick uses QDs so you should be fine whenever you're ready to mod.

Yep, search for Street Fighter Madcatz mod videos on Youtube. There's some that'll walk you through step by step. It looks extremely easy.

Grats man, you're off to a good start with that stick. I started with a crappy ass stick and moved my way up back a few years back. I'll spar with you in SF4/blazblue on PSN. Also get 2DF and GGPO on your PC.

PSN: Aktham
2DF: Big Boss
GGPO: Big Boss

I can already hear myself talking trash already "where's yo epic gear nao??!!" :lol

Are JLFs supposed to come with two of the disc-dust covers? Mine did. I read on SRK that one goes under the panel and then the obvious one on the top. But I read some other things that conflicted with that so now I'm confused. If they are both supposed to be used, in which order do I install them?

I just keep mine around as an extra...

What are you installing it in? I think it's just an extra, really. I could be wrong, though.
