A long overdue update on Egret II progress. I made a custom front-end for MaLa (which I need to take new pictures of) that I'm still working on, but I went to IKEA yesterday and picked up some stools, side-tables and more-

It's looking pretty nice! The Street Fighter prints come from an art exchange between my girlfriend and another artist from the toy community, MacIX. I'd link you guys to his site or something like that but oddly enough, he doesn't have one :(

Yeah Jared,

That is one impressive living space! That is such a sexy machine, the Egret II. It has gotta be the best candy cabinet ever made.

Personally, in a bit of sillyness I bought a couple of arcade ashtrays (one Taito, one Sega) for my units just to make them look more authentic...and to hold coins, since I don't smoke. Still looking for 100 Yen coins since I wanna play by depositing a coin for a credit as opposed to free play. Any J-Gafers wanna help out? I could send something of quite a bit more value for, like, thirty coins. Guessing, I could just go to a Japanese bank in LA, but not sure.

In the interest in full disclosure, I work for Kustom PCs. If this message is taken as me spamming or whatever, just tell me and I'll delete it.

Kustom have just gotten in the MadCatz PS3 Street Fighter Arcade sticks, and from what we can tell, we're the cheapest about...

We got them in because the PS3 versions run over USB, so can be used on the PC as well.

Thanks yall.

I wanted to do the same thing and order a Taito ash tray to act as a cup holder prior to the side tables :lol Maybe when I order some replacement buttons I'll think about doing that.

Completely awesome work Jared. Egret is so utterly sicknasty. Still using Soft15khz?

Yep, still using Soft15khz and QuickRes for everything. I still need to get a friend of mine to compile a special version of MAME for me. Right now, it's CabMame, but it lacks 3D acceleration and some games have bugs that have been fixed in more recent versions, so I need to get one made with a combination of the two.

I have a TRIUMVIR ash tray/lighter next to my Astro... not authentic Japanese arcade, I love the ppl. <3

!

Thanks to some extra $$$ I got this year, I think it's time to finally get the HD cab I've been wanting. Vewlix L here I come. I'm going to hook it up to PS2/PS3/360. Not going to bother hooking up a PC to it.

Gonna need lots of pics of the one when it comes in.

Did you see that the _xizor guy on shmups forum is putting together a Japanese order for them...not sure how his pricing is but might worth checking out.

Yes Boss! Thanks for the link!

_dementia, oh man the Seattle Gameworks had SF4 setup on two lindbergh cabs. it was awesome.

SHITBALLS. It begins. Gonna have a hard time resisting a vewlix. Go big or go home, right? :D

One thing that would make this far easier to commit to is if MS would put all of the disc-based fighters/shmups on Games on Demand, then you just slip in a J360 and you're in paradise.

Mine took about three and a half weeks. Hang in there (it shouldn't take yours that long now that supply is up!)
Hopefully not...I have been keeping occupied by making a a few possible art redesigns. :D

Waiting on my TE stick to get repaired is painful...sent it to Madcatz last week...:(

I'll be sending mine in tomorrow. :(

Hopefully it goes a little quicker than normal since I'm only about 2 and 1/2 hours from San Diego.

Where did you see that? The quote I got was 3500 before any of the expenses that are going to be involved in bringing it over get figured in.

That's probably for a new one from Taito... I've been quoted before from coinopexpress and excellentcom a few months back when I was feenin' for a HD cab X_X

Back when BlazBlue was being distributed for arcade ops by AKSYS, they had killer deals on Vewlix cabs + BB. Man I should have bit on it back then.

ugh. I'm done trying to learn Japanese sticks. Playing with HAPPs my whole life has taught me to throw my weight into everything too much. I don't feel like relearning 20 years of habits.

That said, anyone have an american stick they want to trade for a 360 TE :lol (I don't care what kind of PCB, as long as it works with the PC, and I have a PS2 converter) or just buy a TE?

Hey Mark any clue on any of the accessories you would need to buy in order for the L to work with ps3/360?

Looking at the vewlix option form and don't know if I would need the new jamma regulator kit, jamma kit, or both. Any idea?

BTW, this is half true (PS3 sticks supporting PC)

Sorry MarkMan (you know this though!) but the USB implementation of the PS3 sticks does not work on all USB controllers because they don't support the full USB implementation. The 360 sticks work on any Windows PC though.

whaaa,

that SRK forum s tough. Signed up, but I'm way out of place. I've got $$400-500 to spend on a saturn stick but they make it so hard. Anybody here wanna sell an Astro City Virtua Stick Pro HSS-0130 for a big chunk ($400-$500) just please PM me. Not interested in the politics. It has got to be well-loved or from a collector.

Shit, really? Any more info on it, like what USB controllers aren't supported?

I'm off to Google just now.

Just mod the stick(I posted about it a few pages back)Extra spring, Octogate and electrical tape is all you need for the mod. Here the link on the info I posted http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=17430028&postcount=10549.

I just read that you need a VIA chipset - I'm not sure what's in my PCs, I didn't care to look since my TE stick works fine in all of my PCs/Laptops that I've tried it on. If it doesn't work in your PC, getting a USB pci card that it will work with is only a couple of bucks.

Fuck SRK.

I knew it was a bad place from lurking but wholly shit is it another level once you join. Thank god for GAF and its kindness to newbies. FUCK that closed circle-jerk. Fuck-it, FUCK-IT. What a fucking terrible aspect of the hobby...they've got some serious hang-ups. No longer even lurking...or clicking on links to that shitty site.

Edit: Thanks MarkMan. All I did was a google search for the stick I was looking for and noticed an SRK member was selling and decided to join to pursue it. I knew it was a tough crowd there, but they are shockingly tough. Did not realize it was a segregated system between paying members and non-payers. A kind member named GeorgeC sent me a nice message, though.

Yes Boss!

Yea it sucks that a lot of ppl on SRK are dickheads. I've learned to deal with it (boy did I). I have a lot of hate mail/insultory PMs I kept for old times sake lol.

But the REAL members of that community are more than helpful. You are always welcome there as I know you are a true enthusiast for our passion/hobby.

I stopped going there because of this. I know there are a few really nice members but I'd rather be on GAF than over at SRK forums.

Thanks Linkhero1 and MarkMan. Now I feel bad for using such foul language but I was upset because some guy really laid laid it in to me....something about junior member, thread making status and what not. I'm in San Francisco tomorrow to pick up a cabinet and just wanted to get into contact with the stick holder, who is in sunnyvale.

Now aren't you glad I made this thread to weed out all the BS ;) ?

I only use three threads on GAF regularly: the monthly consumer whore thread, the stick thread, and Onkel's cooking thread in off topic. You've made two of those threads!

FUCKKK, so I bought a MadCatz arcade stick from some douchebag on craigslist. Five minutes after trying it out, the motherfucking thing won't register left movement.... I just emailed the son of a bitch back, but odds are he sold it to me broken on purpose and won't reply to anything I send him.

Are those sticks easy to fix? Also, how easy would it be to switch it from a square gate to a circle gate?

They don't make circular gates for JLFs. You would have to swap the stick for a Sanwa JLW and use the GT-0 circular gate which is compatible with it. Either that or get a GT-Y octagonal gate for your JLF.

As for your predicament, if it's not an issue with the JLF, call madcatz customer support? You probably don't have a receipt though :/

I don't have a receipt, so I can't call in the warranty.

Edit: After digging around and doing more research, I found the culprit:
IMG_0870.jpg

The damn washer broke the circuit. Now I'm gonna have to buy a replacement JLF. Too bad there are no circle gates for JLF's, I guess I'll have to go with an octogonal gate.

Im gonna give some bids to a guy with a couple of joysticks and need help with how much the sticks are worth. (Hope its not off-topic)

First one is the Dreamcast arcade-stick from Sega, how much is it worth? Its in good condition and boxed.

The others are Sega Powerstick II, and a powerstick, and a Megastick (are those good at all?)

thanks in advance

Just got home from the beach, opened my mail and finished my art mod.
The colours are a bit off in the photos but I can't be bothered correcting it now.
