_Dem, that is one of the best T.E mods I have seen.

The reflective plexiglass looks sexy. God, the VSHG = <3; such a simple clean and awesome designed stick. Very glad I own one.

nice mod _dementia

i love vshg!

I never used a Seimitsu lever before the EX-SE and I have fallen in love with the LS-32-01. The buttons are rad as well, they're much more... i dunno, tactile than Sanwa and that helps me with my confidence. When I get the chance, I'll probably swap out the Sanwa parts in my TE for full Seimitsu.
word. LS-32-01 is the shit. The buttons, you describe them as more tactile--how do you mean exactly? As a Gen user I've got a special interest in such things. :D

Seimitsus have more resistance (as opposed to almost none) and they feel snappy. Kinda like keyboard buttons, now that I think about it. You can rest your fingers on them without accidentally pushing them is what it boils down to.
To give a specific example: My MP3 player weighs about 150 grams, it will activate a Sanwa if I gently put it down on one. Not so with a Seimitsu.

I did a few searches and couldn't find a clear answer:

Has anyone had success in swapping out the Start/Select 24mm on the madcatz TE? I simply CAN'T get to them, it is too tight of a fit?

I think I had to remove the bottom panel to get to mine.

Well, my irrational VSHG love has claimed another victim :D

Madcatz TE
Dualmodded PS3/360
Arthong 7-button plexi
Sanwa OBSF-30 Dark Hai action buttons and yellow OBSF-24s for Start/Select
Dark Hai meshball

It's unforunate the plexiglass is so reflective. I might revisit the design with a polycarbonate print from mamemarquees to better mimic the VSHG's matte surface.
For now, It looks fine.

Tizzight! Yeah, looks great, though matte is still king. :D

Ha!

Scrolling down this page and it is all VSHG stuff. I should pull out my old HRAP->VSHG mod and photo compare it to my actual VSHG. I thought it came out kinda janky back in the day since it has the matted original faceplate of the original launch HRAP3 but now that I've got them both in hand it looks pretty nice.

_dementia,

Next project for you, I reckon, should be converting one of the forthcoming HRAP Vs to a Lindbergh mock~!

Well I finally got around to ordering a full panel plexi cover for my TE. Just finished the art for it. What do you guys think?

the case looks deeper than ex2/fs3/fswii so mounting an ls32 would fit in the case without the scraping of the shaft to the bottom plate like the older sticks.

the pcb shows that the buttons are possibly common ground considering there is a trace connected to all six buttons. i'll laugh if it's common voltage though. :P

alot of room in the case for extra pcbs/light up crap or hiding your weed when you go to evo.

stick looks interesting but with hrap's/te's out there and easily available there's not much point to getting and modding this thing unless you really like the size and shape of the case.

not much else going for it compared to an se except that it has a 6 button face.

VSHG!

Hori I love you.

You even have similar looking PCBs now except you still use a full PCB for the buttons!

Your friend,

Mark

ill step up to defend Sanwa.

love the sticks, prefer them for certain genres (figthers), and i prefer Sanwa buttons to Seimitsus any day.

i have several full Sanwa mods and a full Seimitsu one. i need to try a mix and match one day.

i am buying that new Hori SA though. its going to be a pain for my 360 fighters, but the shmup love on the console is just too good lately.

Yeah, I was firmly in the seimitsu camp for the longest time and modded my SE with all-seimitsu parts. When I got my TE the Sanwa stick just felt too loose and the buttons were way too sensitive. However after a while messing around in different games with the TE I tired playing Blazblue with my seimitsu stick and I simply couldn't do it. It was just way too stiff (not to mention loud) once I had gotten used to the sanwa. Even after a few hours in different fighters I couldn't get comfortable again with the seimitsu. I'm keeping it around for shmups, but I think I'll be replacing the buttons with sanwas. I've come to love the sensitivity, and games like dodonpachi that require rapid tapping are much better with them.

They're both ps3 sticks. I just wish there were more ps3 shmups to put my LS-32 to work. :(
At least there's MAME.

Does anyone have a date on the Round 2 sticks? I need a PS3 stick, I'm looking to get back into SFIV. I have an Axisdapter here ready to stick into it:D

The V3 and VX sticks look good, but it's clear Hori didn't learn anything from the Madcatz SE.

Is a square or octagon gate better for street fighter? I'm thinking about upgrading my Madcatz SE.

Octagon is looser with getting those QCF motions but might be a double edged sword for some people with how loose it can be(unintended movements).I say stick to square for the first couple weeks.I personally like the bit of resistance it has even though it took some time getting use to it.

Never got an answer :(. Any advice?

There shouldn't be anything different as far as execution goes, everything else is cosmetic plus the wire storage. One thing that I don't like about the SE though is the dipped angle of the case.I prefer the flatness of a Hori and the TE stick better.

Plus the 24mm start and select buttons instead of tiny nubs.

I am a noob, and am getting my first 2 sticks with Tekken 6. Got a friend to chuck in $60 so he could get the game, and I get the stick.

What is the diff between the Tekken Sticks and the PS3 HRAP?

The Tekken sticks are wireless (RF with a USB dongle; not bluetooth) and the HRAP is wired. The Tekken sticks use Hori clone parts instead of Sanwa. HRAP3 uses an arcade-spec Sanwa JLF stick lever and the same Hori buttons as the Tekken sticks.

But for the pirce, would you consider it a good base to upgrade?

Like eventually upgrading the stick/buttons.

I'm pretty sure the wireless sticks have the buttons soldered directly to the circuit board, so modding would be more of a hassle than it should be. The case looks too slim to mount a Sanwa or Seimitsu stick too.

If you want a good entry-level stick to eventually mod for arcade-spec parts, get the Standard Madcatz stick.

Can anyone confirm if it is a metal top plate, or is it just a sticker overlay?

_dementia said:
it's metal
like every HRAP

the white Amazon exclusive HRAP3 has a vinyl "sticker" with a carbon pattern on the faceplate. It's very prone to nicks and scratches, unfortunately.

The EX-SE, or at least the Japan version of it, doesn't have this vinyl overlay.

Debating whether I want to keep the Hori, it was a impluse purchase today not knowing Round 2 would be in today. May gift it as a Christmas present. Anyways...group pic!

The art is impressive, didn't mind dropping serious cash on it though. I love how they accent the red on the stick and the box.

...makes me wonder if there will be a SSFIV stick.

Glad you like the Round 2 stick! They're starting to pop up now ;)

who knows?! if there is one out, what would you guys want to see?

I would just like to see different colored TE sticks. Don't really care about the art since it's easy to change. Could recycle the Round 2 art for all I care. Maybe one with a dark grey case? Along with other colors besides white and black variants. Oh, and on future sticks make the guide lock also disable start/back buttons, please! I'd buy another stick for that alone since I'm too lazy and stupid to rig that up myself.

Oh, and a Dudley themed stick lol
