NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread

I was thinking of swapping the stick on my HRAP3 for a Seimitsu, but from what I hear the standard LS32 won't fit. Would the LS56 work? How different is that from the 32?

Picked up the Hori V3-SA recently and been playing around with it a lot. I really like it. It's a pretty sweet upgrade from my modded Tekken 5 stick that lasted me through a ton of ST and Third Strike play.

Are there any good sticks besides the TE that have sanwa parts and are generally high quality? The Hori alternatives look good, but I'm wondering if there is anything else.

Amazon seems to be low on sticks in general -- are there any other places that have them at good prices?
Hm, all I know of are the Qanba fighting sticks and Hori Real Arcade Pro SA which uses Sanwa parts for everything. Theres another being the Hori Real Arcade Pro SE and that uses Seimitsu parts all around.

Any other online store that is reputable like Lizard lick that sell semitsu parts? Lizard lick is sold out of everything. Time to turn this hrap 3 into something nice and different.

What's wrong with the Sanwa it comes with? I love that damn stick.

Psh, Madcatz has the fighting game community on lock. We already have real fight sticks! Over 1000 hours of play time split between my two TEs and not a single problem at all. *hugs TE* I can't wait for what Markman has for us next. My wallet and I are ready and willing.

Shame you can't really customise the little top control panel on the HRAP3. Have blanked up the last 2 main buttons so wanted to move L2/R2 where start/select are and move start/select to replace L3/R3 (since they never get used) but alas it can't be done.

Razer is real good and they have huge name recognition in the PC industry so it'll be interesting. I doubt they have enough community sense or knowledge of the hardcore fanbase though. They'd have to hire someone who knows what's what. The best one is already taken. :)

NM: I missed the part about hacking into the L3/R3 buttons. I'm pretty sure those are on the PCB.

You could drill the HRAP case and move the start/select to the side/front/back of the case and move L2/R2 to where start/select are now though. That might be just as good for you.

I've got an MK/Namco hybrid layout done by Art for my HRAP3SA that has L2/R2/Start/Select across the top in 24mm.

The "vanilla" Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 or EX are also good sticks, IF you can find them cheap. Amazon had the HRAP3 on sale for $60 at one point, for example. The only caveat is that even though it ships with a Sanwa lever, it also ships with Hori buttons... you'll want to replace them with something better (which is easy). But if you find a good enough deal, it will still usually come out cheaper than buying a stick with better buttons pre-installed. Plus, you'll learn something!

I'd love to see Razer's vision of a "REAL fightstick."

My best guess, if they don't think the MadCatz/Hori sticks are "REAL," is that they're going for something American-style as opposed to Japanese-style. Specifically, something with Happ/iL parts. Maybe it'll be like the MAS offerings?
...either that or they have no clue.

So i'm having a bit of a problem here.

I have a MadCatz SFIV SE Fight Stick (PS3) which upon connecting to my laptop running Win Vista 32-bit works fine, basic plug-n-play.But when i connect it to my desktop (Win 7 32-bit), it recognizes it and everything..doesn't register inputs.I have tried googling around but i haven't been able to find any proper solution. All help is appreciated (:

Taken!? I was hoping they'd be single... :(

lol.

Bit of a wild stab here. But when I use my 360 wired pad or arcade stick on the PC I need to plug it into the back USB ports on my desktop as opposed to the front ports. The controllers draw a crap ton of power over USB for some reason so they don't work with all ports. If you look in device manager and you see the 360 controller recognized but with a yellow warning icon by it this might be the issue that you are having. Not sure if PS3 sticks have the same issue or not though.

LS-32-01 Question:

I really don't like the stock stick in the SE. The dead zone is huge. I want something a bit stiffer (pause) as well.

So, it looks like the LS-32-01 is for me, but alas, LL is sold out. Now, if I go with a regular LS-32, will it not sit up as high as the LS-32-01? They use different mounting plates from what I've gathered.

Anyone care to shed some light on this?

it would sit lower, you need to buy a SS mounting plate (which is also out of stock at LL), and on top of that you would have to manually wire up each microswitch, as the regular LS-32 doesn't have a PCB that the stick wire harness connects to.

For the LS-31-01 at LL, go on their email notification on its product page. They always get new (seemingly small) batches In quite often in but they sell out quickly. LL will send you a quick email when they get the new batch and then it is easy to snag one.

Did I just order the MvC3 Tournament Edition stick from the gameshark site? Guess I missed out on that news...

Is there any reason NOT to get this model over the SFIV (besides series preference)?

Madcatz fucked up. Chun li stick fixes this, but people who already bought round 1 and round 2, and on are fucking boned. If chun li stick was actually buyable at a good price, Id sell my useless TE.

Anyone know if Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbutton work in HRAP3? I heard someone had to cut some space for the screw ins, but I'm not sure if it is all HRAP3s. Also, which semitsu sticks work in HRAP3 without some kind of mounting plate?

Oh can you not get it at a reasonable price anymore? Shame, that's my favorite stick they have made.

I figure that most folks in here already read the Marvel versus Capcom 3 thread. But for those who do not some odd company is releasing a licensed Marvel fightpad.

http://www.pdp.com/p-984-versus-fighting-pad-marvel-edition.aspx

The other stuff from this company seems to be really terrible licensed stuff (Remote chargers, NERF branded Wii wheels) so I wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot pole. But I figured it was worth mentioning as instead of a d-pad they are actually using a little microswitched stick for the control, Neo-Geo style. In the event that this product is actually good, I'd totally be interested in one for fighters when I don't want to bust the stick out or stuff like Pac-Man DX on live arcade.

I am considering saving up for a MK stick but I already have a PS3 TE stick. Is there anyway to make my PS3 stick work with X360 as well? I know there is one for XBOX to PS3, do you guys think an "everysystem" stick will be released commercially anytime?

Pretty sure PDP is Pelican. I have one the Tron controllers and the build is really nice. They're making the Mortal Kombat stick too iirc.

They fit fine. There is no need to file or grind the holes. That's only the FS3 and EX2.

You could pick up a PS360 PCB mod and install that. It doesn't seem too hard, judging by this video...I've got one ordered and on the way now.

Wait what? The Ps3 Chun Stick works on PC now?

there are really cheap usb pci cards you can pick up. they have to use a via chipset (you can usually see the via logo on a picture of the card). here's an example (i don't know if this one works, but it is using a via chipset)

Aren't they the ones doing the MK Kollector's stick?
Odd that Madcatz is doing an mvc3 stick but not pads

Actually looking at the PDP pad it has characters not even in the game. I think that it's licensed through Marvel, not through Capcom. Madcatz probably has the Capcom deal locked up and PDP just saw a hole (no MVC fightpad) and made a quick deal with marvel to get something out there.

Notworksafe! It always seems like your answering my questions! Thanks! What site did you buy the PS360 mod?
Edit* Akishop?

Doesn't use an ancient host controller. Uses the Pad PCB/drivers if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks.

Anyone know where I can order Dark Hai OBSF-24s? The smaller Start and Select buttons. Are they HRAP2SA exclusive or something? Black ring, gray plunger.

Ugh, I can't find an English site anywhere that even sells "black rim / xxx plunger" 24mm buttons AT ALL.

If the plunger and base/rim can be separated (they can, right?) it might take you less time to just order black and grey buttons, then swap.

...wtf, I can't find grey buttons either!!

LizardLick and FocusAttack both say that if there's an item you're looking for that isn't listed, you should go ahead and let them know... I guess it's time to let them know about black-rimmed 24mm buttons!

Granted, these are Seimitsu, but it shouldn't matter (plus I much prefer Seimitsu over Sanwa, plus plus start/select/back buttons aren't used as often, so...)

Seimitsu is probably a good idea for Start/Select buttons if they're on the top (like on an HRAP), because it'll be harder to hit it accidentally...
...but unfortunately there's no black/grey there either...

Thanks for the Focusattack.com referral. I got an LS-32-01 on impulse. Is there an octagonal gate option for it, or is it not really needed with this stick?

Also, why does the LS-32-01 on focusattack.com not have the S plate on it in the image? Something tells me I got the wrong one...

Thanks for this looks pretty fucking cool, will wait from impressions before ordering tho. I like some of the design choices like the longer handle on the left neat, and switches in the buttons also very cool.
