NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread

I'm having a problem locally in WV that only one printshop in the region prints laminate labels and they only do it in fightstick sizes.

I'm about to customize my TE stick from madcats (the mvc2 one) and I need to send my art to someone online whose printshop can ship me my order.

Does anyone know of a site that lets your order laminate labels online for this?

I plan on going All in on an Iron Fist Stick.

Is there an online resource where I could find some ready-to-print custom art for a HRAP? I'm thinking about placing an order over at Art's Hobbies, but I'd like to maybe browse some existing options.

I'd really like to find some sleek Akuma artwork for my HRAP3.
Probably can find some on shoryuken.com in the tech talk section.

Here's my DIY arcade stick. I don't play fighting games much, but I love doing DIY projects.

A machinist at work was gracious enough to teach me some milling machine basics and this was the end result. I rarely work on the stick so it won't be done for a long time (I bought the buttons and joystick a little bit after SF4 came out :P ). Right now it works with PC and PS3. In the future I want to add 360 compatibility, a home/guide button, and to do some metal finishing.

I already posted in the pickup thread but scored this Real Arcade Pro EX-SE for $60.

So I got the Black Ryu Mad Catz TE Type "S" stick used for $95. Works great - but I really wanted the white one with Ken on the cover. Anyone know where I can get the artwork on that one and how easy is it to remove my current top?

Ahhh, really hope I get one if not I will have to bug MarkMan at PAX for one :D But I am super excited about finally graduating to a TE from my SE. Even though it is Sanwa modded I just never feel comfortable with the SE because I have big hands and the body of the SE feels tiny.

Yea TE is by far my fav stick shape. I have owned hraps and played on the SE's and I just prefer all that space for my hands. The new Madcatz stick looks cool but I still prefer to TE look.

Yeah, I was deciding between a TE or a HRAP V3 this weekend while watching EVO. I went with the TE specifically because of the shape (although ease of customizability was also a nice perk, I am already looking for some nice art to put in.)

Does anyone have a link to a good tutorial on doing art mods for the HORI V3 SA? It's a notoriously difficult stick to mod, apparently, but I'd really like to get some cool art on it.

I came home today and found my TE stick's cord utterly destroyed thanks to my dog. What are my options for getting it fixed? The cord has a cool breakaway thing so I don't want to do something ghetto - I'd like it to be legit. Any help would be appreciated.

Street Fighter III has only been released on the Dreamcast, Playstation 2 and Xbox. There is no Genesis Street Fighter III.

I guess it was Street Fighter II. It was this edition:

edit: yyr nailed it here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=29567973&postcount=15944

2nd edit: Thanks for the suggestion yyr. I ended up downloading the HD remix for Street Fighter II a couple of weekends ago. It was pretty tough playing it on the sixaxis controller. So I'm trying to figure out if the brawl stick is worth it. I'll really only be using it for one or two games.

Whoa, how was your dog able to get into the cable storage compartment?

Gamer tester, Shoryuken approved. I don't know how "ghetto" you consider a straight USB repair, but that's the only real way to do it apart from replacing the whole cable. You could improve the appearance by using a section of heat-shrink tubing on the repaired area, I guess.

Nice! Where did you get it BTW? I picked up the V-X for about double that on Amazon :( Great stick btw and I'd like it more than my TE if not for the super short USB cord. Are there USB cable extenders for 360 on the market by any chance?
A plain USB extension cable would be fine, but I've ones that plug right into the Xbox breakaway cable port too.

Cool as long as a normal usb extension cable works I'll go that route. Prime is spoiling me; the mad catz one is a breakaway and better quality but no Prime shipping = no buy.

I have that stick.

Stock hori buttons are shit.

Same. First thing I did was switch them out. Also I don't know what it is but I seem to be getting WORSE with my inputs using this stick. Maybe it's because I'm spending more time down the arcade. What sort of stick do they use in a SSF4 cabinet?

Got this at evo. I really like it.

Also met Toodles and was able to get a few ChimpSMDs. Dual mod here I come. :D

Figured out my problem with the plexi. Thought it was supposed to replace the metal panel. It just goes on top, haha.

Does anybody know the site where I can buy the wooden bezel like the TE S's?

I think it looks pretty cool, but don't like the Daigo claw. Going to put some art of my own in.

If it's vewlix it's a sanwa jlf which can be bought for around 20$ and replaced as easy as the buttons.

Focus Attack's got you covered on TE-S style wooden side panels. Nice sticks, by the way!

and here i am debating if i should get this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/usb-fighter-joystick-controller-for-pc-1-8m-cable-66330 to play some Jamestown and *MAYBE* SSFIV

since its the only thing i could get without paying insane amounts of fees and shipping (not a chance of getting anything locally, they just dont exist)

I HATE YOU GUYS WITH A MILLION STICKS, SHIP ME YOUR SHITTIEST ONE ;_;
DON'T DO IT, MAN, THOSE THINGS ARE POISON! Your cheapest option that's still worth a damn is a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom FightStick for the Wii, which has decent quality parts, is easy enough to upgrade, and can be used on PC or PS3 with a Classic Controller to USB adapter. (You can also use it over Bluetooth with a Wii Remote.) The stick runs about $30 if you shop around, and CC->USB adapters aren't very expensive either.

*lines up to take next shittiest stick for free*

Next to UMvC3 and FM4, an arcade stick is the next investment I'm looking into.

Same situation here in Canada. Sticks available nowhere, used ones on craigslist and stuff for more than their MSRP. BUT, i just found out about http://gamesharkstore.ca/ . Seems like this opened up recently AND have stock? Anyways, with the EVO11 20% off code, a Brawl stick is, 86$ shipped, after tax and without 104$.

Anyone know if Madcatz does these promos often? I feel like as a stream monster I should know, but I'm not sure if another 20% off sale will be around when I have the money.

yup, i keep being screwed

Is there a line forming for used sticks here? Haha.

I feel bad now, seeing that I'm in the US and have an easier time than some people getting a stick for a decent price.

I'm so glad I picked up this SE when it was super cheap (30) the new stick/buttons cost more than the package, but it was so worth it.

Still putting together plans to mod my HRAP3, and I have a quick question.

In most tutorials, the demonstrator rips off the original carbon fiber decal that is stuck to the metal plate before overlaying their own art with plexiglass on top. Is that step necessary? I don't want to ruin the original art in case I decide to go back to it. Couldn't I just place the new artwork on top of the decal?

I haven't done it myself, but I've heard that the art being there raises up everything on top of it by about 1mm, making the plexi and the art under it look uneven in some cases.

I recommend getting a Hori Real Arcade Pro V3-SA in your situation
http://www.amazon.de/dp/B004TECRGS/

Very nice stick. Same arcade-spec parts as a Madcatz TE, but the cable is a bit shorter.

Thanks man. This stick does indeed look nice and I can save a few Euro. I owned a HORI for my PS2 and was pretty happy with it. Ordered the stick just a few minutes ago :)

Got it at a pawn shop. I go every now and then on my lunch break and saw it sitting behind the counter. They had this and a RAP3 both 59. I might go back next week and check on the other stick. I also have a stick I have been working on for a few months. All I need to do is paint but I seem to be too lazy to do that. I think its mostly I just don't know what I want it to look like.

I go the SE SFIV MadCatz Fightstick (360) and I really want to switch it for the PS3 version (as I no longer have a 360). I also read about the dual mod but I'm wary of doing it myself and ruining the stick. What would you guys recommend I do?

I would recommend paying someone with experience to do the mod or find someone willing to do an even trade PS3 stick for your 360 stick.

So I'm in the market for a new stick, sort of that time of year again. And my guy who does customs just shipped out in the Navy for a while. Any recommendations? Is the new MvC3 TE Fight Stick any good? I've already got a SFIV TE R2 stick here at home, would the MvC be a waste?

Oh God what am I doing, someone take photoshop away from me!

XtAhL.jpg

Now if only I could get a proper Trapcom logo, this would be good to go....

Haha, the placement of the joystick.

I'm starting to think that I should have just jumped on the EVO sale and gotten a TE for about 20 or so bucks cheaper than I could on Amazon. Damn hindsight. I guess I'll look around and see if I can find a deal on one sometime.

I posted this yesterday and forgot to mention it's for PS3. Anyone interested in a fightstick SE with Sanwa push buttons (light blue) and Sanwa joystick (octagonal gate) and light blue ball top. Thought I was going to play more fighting games and I was just never able to use it very well.
