Swapping the top panel is very, very doable for anyone. You could gett a used 360 TE on Shoryuken, pick up a custom top panel and the necessary mounting brackets from Art's hobbies, and dual mod it with a Kitty PCB from Toodles. In the end, you'd have a solid case, whatever layout you want, and compatibility with nearly any system, all without lifting a single power tool or soldering iron. The bigger issue is that I don't have the means or skill to make the case myself so I've just been browsing shops that pre-make them. Though I didn't think about grabbing one and potentially swapping out the top plate myself. Wonder how much effort that would take, or how much the increase in cost would be to have someone do that. I don't have much interest in doing anything regarding building the case itself, I'd much prefer something that comes in such a way that I can just toss all of my stuff into it and just deal with the wiring etc because that's much more interesting and fun to me. Then of course there's the issue that my main stick is modded with a TE Kitty (and if I'm putting this much work into something it should probably be my main stick) and as far as I can tell, to maintain the proper functionality I'd need to rip everything (including the LED daughterboard) out of the TE to do so and that just adds extra mess to it all.
I hate being indecisive/wanting to upgrade things when it's most logical to just leave things the way they are.
