Can I make a case for @IbelieveInGenerations.....He was a bit excited this morning over the PS5 news, perhaps a bit over excited in making that thread, but it's because he had heard so many pessimistic and deflective posts on how overblown the SSD was for a while now......Yet he was a balanced poster as well....He was one of the first PS centric posters to suggest "let's wait for more news on XBOX's heating issues tweet" and told some posters they should not forward the XBOX is not RDNA 2, since that was affirmed by AMD ages ago, just this morning as well. I also saw him post in one of the threads that "XBOX has a good SSD as well". So he was tried to be as balanced as he could and tried to course correct quite a few conversations here....
Obviously everybody has a little bias, but I think he was more after truth and evidence as opposed...

Unfortunately, true. I try not to comment if I feel it's going to detail the thread. Sometimes I just like to sit back, read, and boost reaction scores for awesome posters. Haven't seen a single ban that wasn't justifiable. So, if I ever get banned, I expect everyone to post my ban here to say how stupid I was and how I deserved it. Not sucking up but I don't need to defend anyone who gets banned. I think there’s a point to be made that Generations was overexcited this morning, even if it’s being made by someone who is transparently looking out for his bros.

That’s two more chances than most will ever get, and it still didn’t work out. The odds of being invited back for a fourth try, are pretty astronomical.
The thing is, I feel like it’s pretty hard to get permabanned on Gaf. You go through a cycle of warnings, then a ban, then more warnings, etc. If someone blew all those opportunities, I don’t know what else to say. Memes from a few years ago aside, that person may just not be a good fit for Gaf.
I hope for the best for him, but there are rules for a reason. In this case, because others come to Gaming Side for fun, discussion, and to relax, and are having their fun disrupted by people (I’m assuming, as I never actually had experience with this particular poster) hostilely fighting over plastic boxes non-stop, when there’s even specific threads dedicated for such a thing.
Putting that into a public space, would you knock over a chair and start yelling at an Xbox fan in the middle of a nice restaurant (I know this is going to get memed), for the entire meal, ruining everything for everyone? Or would you control yourself and respect the people around you? I think most of us have that self-awareness, but on the internet, that seems to fly out the window.

There’s something ghoulish about celebrating bans, though. Particularly when it’s because the banee preferred a different console. If you actually look through the grave dancing, it’s almost always this reason.
The other people tend to be, I guess, posters that haven’t left Bish culture behind, and like clapping at bans.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s a few utter cunts here, that I will personally buy the confetti for, when they go. But your average person? For as much as I will complain about some Gaffers, they are generally good people.
It speaks very negatively of character to constantly do this, especially given that these dogpiles only happen as soon as the target can’t defend themselves.

Agreed. I think that's why a mod mentioned the other day that they don't publicize users on perma-warnings or put banners on them (something like that). It was due to the fact that it would attract members to single-out that user and provoke them into getting permed. I share some bans if I find it's something funny or absurd but I'm not joyed that someone is banned most of the time. That's why lately, I've tried being more silent and reading more than simply posting my "thought / opinions" on recent bans. When Bo and BryanK were banned, I kept quiet because I know they have quite a bit of respect in the community and I too like em.' So, I just read into the comments. However, guys like GamerNYC...I'll bring up as an example...hee hee hee

It’s one thing to have consoles that you prefer and offer your analysis of the market but another thing entirely when you’re rooting for a particular console. This whole attitude of “in order for my team to win the other team has to lose” is pathetic.
Not only that but the strategies for each are very similar. They’re both moving to include streaming, PC, and subscriptions just at different speeds. Xbox is more powerful, PS has a faster SSD, Halo looks awful, Spider-Man could be better as a free upgrade, Bethesda is an exciting acquisition, Sony has crushed it with exclusivity deals like FF, etc. Let’s not pretend like either console is perfect or that there isn’t any merit to the one that you don’t prefer.

Wow I got banned from participating in the “Next-gen speculations” thread because I was in an argument with an Xbox fanboy trying to undermine what I like and then I responded to him with the usual Halo Craig meme joke comment and that got me banned? It’s so unfair, and he didn’t get anything, HOW??
Oh man I hope I can make an appeal or something, that can’t be it, right? I hope one of the mods can do something and here’s the comment.
I’m in denial now, I think I’m gonna cry and be sad, I hope one of them do something.
