I disagree with the mod team moving the thread about the PS5 die size to a weird general thread about TSMC doing both SoC.

I want the thread back because new thread for new news.... that way your are limiting GAFers to produce content that is what the forum is about imo.

PS5 and Xbox Series X SOC are made in the same fabric

Both are diffused in Taiwan and made in Malaysia Both are the same packaging. Just a little different size

This forum needs way more thread merging IMO, not less.. it's madness in the gaming side.

I agree with the mods here and encourage more thread merging.

News = new thread.

The subject of the thread (even being weird) is not the same subject of the die size.
I removed all the conent.

The OP in that thread literally comments on the difference in size.. your post works nicely as an additional detail to that comment..

The OP is about the chip being made in the same fabric (something "shocking" because all chips are done by TSMC).
My post derailed the thread to the point I even removed the comparison with Xbox APU for better discussion.

Let's wait some random estimate (from ERA, Twitter or Reddit) to create a new thread because GAF creating content is a thing of the past.

New thread for new news sure but right now we often have 2-3 threads discussing the same news simultaneously.

Perhaps the issue is the "same fabric" thread is low quality.

The "same fabric" should be locked when it was create... add nothing to the discussion when you know since 2019 both chips are produced by TSMC.

It was moved bcause at that point it wasn't actual 'news', just you having a personal estimate - which is fine, but hardly confirmed at that stage. Plus it was halfway down the board with only you as a replying member. At that stage it seemed to sensible to merge it, as it would get some more replies (which it did in the fabric thread). Some points generally work better as an addition to a conversation rather than starting a new thread


However, now you have an actual source with exact measurements there is nothing stopping you posting it, obviously start a discussion round it though, if you can.

I still believe my estimate was better even overestimating a bit... I said it is close to 300mm2... 286mm2 seems too low.

You limit GAFers of creating content in favor of random estimates outside... is that really what you want from GAF? It was used as source before not the opposite.

That is the EviLore EviLore new GAF directions? If it is then fine... I won't create more threads with actual info from GAFers.

The teardown is a news by itself.
PS5 APU size estimation based in the pics is another news by itself.

What is not news? APU being made by the same fabric (TSMC) lol
Because it was confirmed a year ago TSMC was doing the chip for both... it is like saying the APU was designed by AMD.

Whatever there is a news there will be a new thread no matter if it is 1 or 50 new news/threads.
If 20 games are announced in the same day then there will be 20 new threads.

Maybe it was a mistake. Do you still have the content saved somewhere? Maybe get an approval to repost it again. I guess too many threads smelling similar drive mods to merging them.

Console warriors are boring and predictable. I wish they were as passionate about actually discussing why they like or don't like certain games and for reasons other than metacritic ratings and bestest graphics. I still think it's weird how it got to the point where they were comparing YouTube, Twitter, Instagram views.

I find it extremely implausible that it is both silent and overheating. I mean, unless the fan doesn't work. But keep being faux concerned. Just to be clear i am also concerned about ps5 . Overclocked with half of the box for cooling only.... Again i might just wait on both instead of...
