So, was trying to figure out how my cartoony stuff looks in profile view... it pissed me off, like, a lot @_@

older drawing on the left for front view comparison to profile versions on right. Welp, that's the last page of my strathmore sketchbook to, time to move onto the smaller canson I bought a few weeks back. Hopefully the last page in that one won't be total shit >.>

I'm gonna properly scan it eventually so it looks good.
i'd appreciate it! it's one of my favorite drawings of the thread.

and scanning/cataloging everything is just good practice in general i've found. it makes it really easy to see how you've progressed through the weeks/months/years, which is great for staying motivated.

By the way, I hope you're still producing those cerebral, geometric minimalistic figures!
i haven't drawn much of anything lately. my wrist can't seem to take the abuse anymore.

Finally drew a thing today!

Bonus page for a webcomic my friend and I are collabing together on (she does most of the work though lol):

Cross post from the old thread:

Hey y'all ... I'm requesting a perma ban.

I'll miss all you crazy artists! Remember, you can either suffer from growing or you will suffer from being stagnant. It's your choice! Don't stop pushing yourselves. Don't give up!

I would like to give a shout out to C.B. Bliss, Phandy, Dosh, Raging Spaniard and any other art dudes and dudettes I forgot.

Things to clarify: I leaving just because I'm getting busy. Life is getting really busy and I need all the little time I can get and unfortunately browsing on gaf was taking up too much time. :(

I'll catch you guys in another life (IRL)

Before I go some art if you haven't seen it!

P.S. You can check out a piece I did in the upcoming Capcom Fighting Tribute Art Book that's due this year!

and you can check out this year's Famicase exhibition to see a cartridge I did. You can always find me on twitter, tumblr or DA.

:D

I am so angry with you right now. You always do this. You always run away dammit! Your ass better keep in touch. And don't forget, we were supposed to be nomad buddies.

I guess I can't just write an angry reply. Current progress on the current commission

Still quite a bit to do. Also need to touch up my values. They seem to be all over the place...could be because of the lack of bg detail I have in mind though; not sure.

Foxy I am so mad right now.

I like the idea for this thread. I got a baby coming soon so most of the stuff I'll be posting here is what I do during the breaks at work, and not at home.

Here's what I'll start with, two random sketches done today during short breaks during the evening:

I do mostly environment thumbnails. I have posted more on the Arts & Farts thread, and you can see some of the others I've made and taken photos of, on my Instagram:

My idea is to do these things on a daily basis from now on and post it here. Hopefully the instagram filter is a-ok!

I really like using cmd/ctrrl + Y to Proof Colors in greyscale (View > Proof Colors, Proof Setup). Lets you see your values, but it preserves the colors so if you use the color picker it still picks them up!

.....

Someone explain this to me.

Why isn't every dev out there begging Servbot for his services and throwing tons of money his way?

aw thanks <3 Unfortunately I'm still a scrub next to the industry pros but I'm gonna keep trying to get there!

Next step in the character design is to throw down basic color

lol some kinda family portrait. Just flats right now and I will try to add some more detail and colour variation/shading after I wake up from sleep. XD

5 hoursish so far.. >________>

Gonna take a pic of this and compare cause my scanner can't seem to pick up light shades.

But anywho... I don't know if any of you follow Gabbyd70 on deviant art but this really reminds me of her work and that wasn't the goal >.>

My stuff for yesterday:

And what I've been doing today (still 11 in the morning):

About half of the building on the right side was done yesterday. The perspective on the lower part is kinda fucked though, but only noticed once I sketched it out. Oh well..

All done during breaks at work or waiting to get some files, etc...

Day 1
A WIP sketch of Aisling from the game Gigantic. I love all of the character designs for this game, especially Tyto the Swift. I think I'm going to attempt to draw him in his snow owl skin once I've finished with this.

So... I became a dad two days ago and barely had any time to do anything, but I still managed to do this yesterday:

Which is a digital paint-over of a sketch I did about a week ago:

The one on the top left.

I think I will do more of this, take some sketches I've done and paint them on photoshop!

I've gotten back into drawing again recently, after years of barely doing anything. Oddly, my skills have seemed to improve, somehow. :p

Done after watching the Batman v Superman trailer last month:

This is a Spider-Man suit I came up with about 3 years ago, when deciding that if I were Spider-Man, how would I want my suit to look? Much to my surprise, it's almost identical to the Superior Spidey suit. The white areas are thin, breathable mesh -- it's gotta get hot in that thing!:

Wolverine with a derpy face:

One of Wolverine's enemies, Cyber:

Classic Spidey and Venom:

All of them were done in a small 5.5x8.5 sketchbook, with a pencil, sharpie pen, cheap-o color markers, and some warm gray prismacolor markers that surprisingly still work after 10+ years of sitting in the closet!

What are some tips on learning how to draw correctly sized bodies?
I really want to get better drawing but I just always get discouraged by how my drawings looks, how the body parts never seem to be the right size or look right. I need to stop being such a perfectionist which will help.

Done mostly during the lunch break and meeting (I'm listening though! It's just I like to listen while sketching stuff...). The bottom left thing went a bit too high fantasy perhaps...

Edit: Ah crap, I thought I was editing my last post, not making a new one. Sorry...

Main thing is simply to study live figures or photos. Human figure is very complicated, so if you need help breaking it down, I recomend getting books by both Loomis and Vilppu (loomis more about structure, vilppu more about flow). In general this is one of those things where the best advice is honestly just "draw and study a lot".
