NeoGAF Fantasy Football Paypal League(s) - Season 4

Counting on Arizona's offense...tsk tsk. I guess you were referring to playing me (Locker2SB) in the econ league? Man that was a close one...stat corrections could still flip it. Either way that was a pretty crazy matchup. After watching Romo's start I was thinking "what's the record for most negative fantasy points?"...but man did he come through. That league is gonna be pretty interesting... looks like there's only gonna be 3 teams above .500

Can someone explain to me why offensive interceptions are -1 points and not -2? Stupidest stat rule ever. Every other turnover whether on offense or defense is -2. Anyhow...nice win. My team is likely done.

I know the waiver wire offered slim pickings this week but it's pretty shocking to see that only Rinker made a roster claim out of the NQ4 teams with losing records.

Especially when you consider AlteredBeast has half of his team on bye.

Either we've got owners throwing in the towel prematurely, owners confident they'll be able to line up a trade to improve their immediate fortunes by the weekend or owners who feel their existing roster will deliver where they've failed in previous weeks.

So long as you've only got 5 losses, you can build a 5-game win streak and make the playoffs with an 8-5 record.
Look no further than Crazymoogle's Bail Kings for a team that recovered from the basement to win 5 straight.

I think a lot of it has to do with the storm on the East coast. Priorities probably in other places at the moment.

That being said, made a move after the waiver. Did not need to do much this week.

I'm not involved in this league and I don't want to crash the party here, but I just thought I'd ask for opinions on a potential trade I'm contemplating in my league.

First, background. League is 10 teams, standard positions (QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, Flex, K and DST), non PPR. It's also a dynasty league with 4 keepers.

I've been trying to get a massive trade done that will include me sending another team RG3, Julio Jones, Fred Jackson and Owen Daniels for Andrew Luck, Gronk, Ryan Mathews, DeSean Jackson and a 1st Round pick in our draft next year.

However, it's not looking like he's going to move Mathews (RB's are coveted in our league), so I'm thinking of paring it down to this:

RG3 and Daniels for Luck and Gronk and a 1st Round pick.

My theory is that QB's are easily redraftable, RG3 is insane but still unproven and I'll be sowing up my TE slot for the next little while (he'd join AP, Megatron and Julio Jones as my 4 keepers).

Thoughts?

By dynasty, I can only assume you mean there is no draft cost for your four keepers and no time limit on keeping them, right?

1)RB's are always coveted, I suppose, though in a 10 teamer I'm a bit surprised. Even in my 12 team keeper, RBs have value not not absurd "I sweat Ryan Mathews will be amazing!" value

2)RG3 and (TE2) for Gronkowski, (QB2), 1st round pick? Well, it's simpler. And to be brutally honest I think Fred Jackson could still turn out to be more useful than Ryan Mathews. Do you have a QB1, or would you be rolling with Luck?

3) I think having Gronkowski as an elite TE keeper is a fine idea. You pretty much can avoid owning a second TE unless Gronk is injured or you're hunting some unusually good value. I'd argue having an elite QB is even more important, but it depends on how much you believe in RG3. If you don't believe he will stay in the Rodgers-Brady-Brees area then you're right, you can roll with Dalton/Luck/whomever. But if he does stay up there, you'll have a hard time finding somebody comparable. (A 1st round pick is pretty nice, though)

My apologies, yes you are correct, no cost nor time limit for the keepers. Essentially 4 freebies.

The RB heaviness is mostly to do with the flex spot, and guys preferring to run with a 3rd RB when available. Thus, the shortage of the main 20-25 touch guys is very apparent.

I have to say, I somewhat agree with you about Fred Jackson versus Mathews, my original offer may not even be the better of the two. Mathews gets more guaranteed touches sure, but I have very, very little faith in the SD offense going forward. The difference might not be enough to lose Julio Jones (though I have Cobb to go with Megatron, who I'm very big on).

As for my QB situation, no I have no one else, just Vick on my bench (who I'd probably start this week in fact, so I'd be matchup city for the rest of the year. I had Rodgers, drafted RG3, and was able to turn Rodgers into a large trade than netted me Julio and AP (best trade I've ever done).

I feel like I should propose the smaller trade now. I think I feel more comfortable with the consistency of Gronk (and the larger gap of PPG over the next best TE's) than the potential of RG3.

Knowing my QB situation, do you agree with that logic?

I just dealt Percy Harvin and Andrew Luck for Aaron Rodgers and Domenic Hixon.

What do you guys think of the trade? My other receivers are Vincent Jackson, Welker, Malcolm Flyod, and Titus Young

Good trade. The Vikings offense completely sucks. Play Jackson/Welker. Who did you have starting at QB before? Not Luck?

I drafted Rivers and Luck...and started Luck the past couple weeks as Rivers has been horrible. Only things is that in my league we start 3 WRs , but I think I should be good with Young and Floyd as my third.

Quick fantasy start question about who I should start in my flex spot:

-Mikel Leshoure

OR

-Rashad Jennings

I'm leaning towards Jennings because he seems to get more carries and what else do the Jags have? Also the Lions have given up some decent yards to RBs recently...BUT..

I can imagine the Lions getting a big lead and leaning on Leshoure later in the game..

What do the experts here think???

I wouldn't count on the Lions getting a big lead.
I think you should avoid Leshoure due to Schwartz continuing to play games with double-talk surrounding Mikel's health.

I would definitely ride with Jennings here.

TYVM...Greatly appreciated..I will go with RJ then. Thanks!

Just a heads up that I'm fielding multiple offers for the Muscle Hamster's services after his big 33.4 fantasy point effort against the Vikes last Thursday.

Still mulling over my options on which one to pull the trigger on and sending feelers out to some other owners while I do. Whether it's me or one of you guys, first one to pull the trigger gets the deal done... whether it happens before tomorrow's 4pm Eastern NFL trade deadline or not.

Uber just sent u a crazy trade lol Let me know
That trade was too crazy for my blood. Sadly I am not wacko for Flacco.

Rinker has won the Muscle Hamster Sweepstakes. Please be sure to give him a good home.
As luck would have it, I play Rinker this week so the Muscle Hamster will be able to give the Broskis a parting gift in the form of TDs and points for my opponent.

Graham was enough for marting????? WTF and here I thought I knew what your were talking about all this time UBER :( I am disappoint :(

I suppose I could have asked if you would have parted with Gronk for Martin.
But somehow I doubt you would have offered him up.

Also, my track record in No Quitters is that I make terrible trades so if anything you should have expected me to accept a bad deal. That's my MO.

Wow that's all you took? And you were asking for Rice straight up :jnc
I wasn't expecting Rice straight up. For teams with good records, I usually start my offers high and work down if there's interest.
For teams with poor records, I usually pitch something that's close to my lower range of acceptable offers.
Besides, you offered me Rice in a multi-player package deal last week so I figured it couldn't hurt to start there.

Graham offers me a no-brainer start at Tight End after a couple disappointing efforts from Rudolph thanks to Ponder's disappearing act.
Not having the Week 11 bye as a problem and freeing up the bench space to take flyers on guys is well worth it for me.

You have no idea how annoying it's been to be totally high on both Josh Gordon and Cecil Shorts before they went off but not able to justify grabbing them due to bye week fill-ins, Britt's "potential" despite being gimped and other variables.

Lastly, and most importantly, Martin going forward without Carl Nicks blocking for him scared the hell out of me.
I didn't pick up Blount today because I want to see what he does with the Bucs. He'll be dropped at 4:00pm tomorrow if he's not dealt to another team.

No Quitters, so I am not quitting. But I am kind of resigned to the fact that I couldn't win a week to save my life. I need some RB for this week. Willing to make another big trade.

For the rest of the year? Probably Romo and Freeman and then play matchups, though if Freeman's matchups stink Schaub is a viable option. Rivers I want no part of

Yea, for the rest of the year. It's only a 10 person league and when my draft peyton late strategy fell through I went all in on position players and drafted Rivers and Schaub late.

Right now I have Freeman and Rivers but both Romo and Schaub are on waivers. I've rolled with Rivers most weeks and still am somehow 7-1.

Ok, you can have 2 qb's on the following four, who do you take:

Rivers
Schaub
Romo
Freeman
Romo and Freeman. Probably for both this weekend and the long-term.

Rivers is just trash this season.

Schaub has been phenomenal but largely playing the role of an ultra-conservative game manager in a run-first offense with a stellar D that keeps games from turning into shootouts where he HAS to pass (unless they're facing the Packers).

I feel like I should propose the smaller trade now. I think I feel more comfortable with the consistency of Gronk (and the larger gap of PPG over the next best TE's) than the potential of RG3.

Knowing my QB situation, do you agree with that logic?

The logic is fine, do what you gotta do. I'm rolling happily with RG3 and Vick in my keeper league but it's tough to get a high potential TE too

Right now I have Freeman and Rivers but both Romo and Schaub are on waivers. I've rolled with Rivers most weeks and still am somehow 7-1.

Pick up Romo ASAP and drop Rivers in the trash, easy

The NFL trading deadline may have passed but trades in NQ4 shall continue for another two weeks or so.

Still nothing on the AlteredBeast front with a little over 3 hours until the Chiefs-Chargers game.
Lacking a kicker and with only Cedric Peerman active as an RB option in a seemingly no-win situation against the New Orleans Phoenix.
He's also starting a defense directly opposite the NOP starting QB in Cam Newton which means Newton will be getting extra points for TDs by killing the D/ST at the same time.

3-6 and likely elimination from playoff contention would seem to be inevitable at this point.

EDIT: Looks like AlteredBeast was able to get a deal done.
Sent Brandon Lloyd and Danny Woodhead over to acksman for Vick Ballard and Justin Forsett.

That's a pretty solid move for both teams, IMO.

I have a feeling the comish might get his first win this week.
I'd say a lot of that depends on whether Jordy can go or not.
Don't forget the Commish has been projected to WIN his matchup 5 out of the 8 weeks he's lost this season.
A Yahoo! projection advantage clearly hasn't mattered much.

The matchup I'm most intrigued by the most this week is between Frankman and Azwethinkweiz. Both teams are 4-4.

Frankman has been super-active on the waiver front yet seems to have fallen prey to picking up fashionable one-week flyers only to not start them and sit them on his bench when there's minimal chance for them to carve out a full-time role. (For a perfect example of this, look no further than Danario Alexander earning the spot start this week for a terrible Philip Rivers.)

Hookers and Blow, on the other hand, reminds me a lot of my 2011 Broskis team. Started off 1-3 despite being 2nd overall in total scoring and has since rebounded with a 3-game win streak. He's now the hottest team in the league outside of the Bail Kings.

One of these two teams is going to be 4-5 after this week's games. Hookers and Blow can absorb a loss without much concern but Frankman will be in a much more precarious position with Loss #5 unless one of the overachieving teams ahead of him (namely the 5-3 Dinner Out and Josh's Taco Cabana squads that also play each other this week) start running cold.

lmao KC is baaaad
The entire team has quit on their coaching staff.
I'm surprised they bother showing up and don't just forfeit the rest of their games.
They probably would if it wouldn't jeopardize getting paid.

Clearly my trading for Dwayne Bowe was the final nail in the coffin.
Hoping for some sweet Garbage Time goodness from the Garbage Man in the 4th quarter.

And my infamous "trades always blow up in my face" karma strikes again...
Darren Sproles is now out indefinitely with a broken hand.

So much for my former supposed edge in running back depth. <sigh>

All of the return yardage mega-threats are going down this week.
First Sproles, now Harvin.

I also predict that the Muscle Hamster will be the top RB in fantasy the rest of the way now that I have dealt him away to Rinker.
(Well, okay... probably not THE top fantasy RB. Look what ADP has done to the vaunted Seachickens run D today. Yikes! Guess he'll be #2.)

51.2 fantasy points. 272 total yards. 4 TDs. He simply doesn't stop. One of the greatest single-game fantasy performances of all-time!

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER DOUBT THE 'TRADE WITH UBERTAG' KARMA.

In other news, that Economy League team I could care less about has gone apeshit this week.
6-3 in four of my leagues after this week. 4-5 in a friendly league where I've had Doug Martin on the bench the past two weeks (still own him, though).

It's amazing that after that big Thursday night lead and Jordy Nelson getting a big 'ole goose egg for minx88 that the Commish is now PROJECTED TO LOSE his matchup this week. Unreal. Guess we'll have to wait to see how things play out in the Monday nighter. He lost Run DMC this week, as well.

Rinker made the one move he needed to make in order to keep his NQ4 hopes alive. Improving to 4-5 and facing minx88 in a matchup where he'll be favored to win with Shonn Greene back in his lineup.

Puddles keeps his season alive with a win this week, as well.

AlteredBeast's Omaha Nighthawks are pretty much eliminated at 3-6.

damn, Martin unleashed - sorry about the curse ubertag
No need to apologize. I've been banging the "Trade with Me & Good Things Will Happen" drum the past month. Would have been more surprising for the Muscle Hamster not to run amok.

To be honest, I'll actually call this week a spiritual win for me if Sproles is able to return next week as rumored.
I should still have the outright 1st place position locked up over Sinistar after Graham and the Saints D/ST play tomorrow night. Can't feel too sorry about that.
It's winning in Weeks 14-16 that ultimately matters.

I have Doug Martin in 4 out of my 6 leagues so I had a good week. Uber beat me by a round in the NQ4 league draft!

Just to show some ridiculous scores. Here is one my games. Put this into perspective. The Econ league I have Martin. He outscored 2 other entire teams this week. Just nuts. I can only think of Aaron Rodgers ever having a better fantasy game in the past few years with more points.

And before anyone asks, we use Fleaflicker service for that league. Fairly minimalistic but you can tweak the crap out of the scoring settings.

Looks like I spoke too soon.
Clearly Andy Reid is more inept than the Saints terrible defense.

For the first time in a long time, the Broskis are NO LONGER in 1st place in NQ4.
Sinistar now has the edge in total points scored.

Somebody trade me a QB :( Flacco is killing me
You have 10 days to solve that dilemma via trading.
With 16th waiver priority, I'm not sure you're going to find much available on the wire to improve your QB situation.

Your best bet is to make an offer of Flacco and someone else to GCQuinton for Carson Palmer. He has made NO roster moves all season so good luck with that one. He is missing TRich next week in a virtual must-win contest against yours truly to avoid falling to 4-6. He's lost 4 straight games (starting the lower-scoring of his two QBs in 3 of those matchups) so he should be motivated.

Of course, calling attention to the fact that Palmer is QB10 in our league (QB7 over the past month) and has enjoyed a permanent home on the Ember Island Players bench will no doubt encourage other QB-hungry owners to pitch offers for him as well. So you'll probably want to make it a GOOD offer to catch his eye.

Also, the Raiders just lost their entire running back artillery to ankle injuries so if anything Palmer is just going to keep passing more.
They also face the terrible New Orleans Saints (who give up the most fantasy points to opposing QBs) in Week 11.
