I'd rather $50 myself but $100 wouldn't be out of reach for myself. I just think the jump from $30 to $100 is pretty big lol.

I voted for $50. I'm all for big buy-ins but at 16 teams the amount of luck involved is a bit wild. At 14 or less no problem with it though.

gotcha. Give that to the 4th place guy then.

Especially is you miss the draft. We had 2-3 guys not make it last year and it was like their season was dead.

I think this has been brought up before, but would it be too much of a headache to try to make 2 leagues?

We would only need 6 more people for 2 leagues of 12. One with the higher $100 buy-in and one with a lower buy-in. That could please those who have complained 16 is too many teams and players would have a choice for what price they want... if $100 is too high then no sweat, you can join the other league.

Hmm, I guess that's not a bad idea. Let's see how the vote shakes out first. Also, if $100 wins, are there people who will refuse to play?

There are 2 waiting list spots left.

ps: 11 of 18 have voted and it is 6 ($100) to 5 ($50) If it ends close, we'll figure it out based on who drops out (due to price or waiting list)

I missed the draft last year and still could have won the league (would have, in fact, barring my absymal week 2 in the playoffs :( )

That's kind of my issue. I'm all on board with $100 but have yet to vote as I'd rather we play for $50 than have people bail due to not being able to pony up the cash.

Fo me, having a 100% committed owner pool trumps any dollar value attached to winning.

I can't be in two big money leagues this year, so I gave up my spot for a rookie.

Came in 4th last year, horrible playoff weeks, I blame Cedric Benson.

I really can't afford $100, so if I get in, consider me a $50 vote.
You have to indicate it on the Poll.

If it's commitment, the answer is simple: If you bail you're out of any future FF Leagues the commish runs. I know AutoDraft can fuck you up but at least finish the year.

Fuck guys... I'm in too many leagues this year with friends... I can't do 100... I wish. You fellas have fun. Thanks for that email konex.. I just got it and appreciate it

I'll go vote in the poll for sure. If I get into the league, I'll definitely finish out the year. If there's a spot available and the buy-in is $100 though, go ahead and give my spot to the next guy on the waiting list.

We should do a second league for free or $20 or something. I can't afford $100 and &50 is pushing it but I'd love to do a Gaf league...

A handful of free leagues for GAF members tend to pop up in the stickied NFL thread over the month of August so I'd keep your eyes peeled there for any updates.

I voted for $50, I'm just not comfortable jumping to $100 that quick. I mean this is my 3rd ever real FF league player ever. :p

After last year I could have swore you had been doing this for a while with the smack talk and all and trades.

I elected to break the deadlock and finally vote for $50.
I'd still prefer $100 actually but clearly there are a lot of people in the league who aren't comfortable with those stakes.

I'd be a complete newb to a GAF league, but if you guys form a second league or whatever I'd like in. I'd be down for 20 or 50. I don't even know where to vote. lol

What I usually do is the ESPN Gridiron Challenge, where you're given a fantasy $50 mill budget and pick different players each week, that I've been doing for over 10 years. I only started real Fantasy Football in Cloudy's 2009 league. As for trades, I run my team the same way I would run it in Gridiron Challenge. If I don't think the longterm beats the short term, I'm jettisoning players based on matchups/research.

I don't recall talking smack last year. We are all having fun here.

We should definitely go with 1 point per 10 yards, screw tenths of a point. Along with a bonus for 100 yards rushing or receiving. Everyone needs to get the experience of having their RB1 rush for exactly 99 yards under such a system.

The voting link is in the message board on the league site.

It is tied at 8 now with 16 of 20 having voted. At this rate it seems super close. How about a compromise at $75?

20? I thought we were capping out at 16 in the league? From the looks of it, we should just split into two leagues. Seems like there's enough people who want $50 and enough who want $100.

Frankman could be the commissioner of the $50 league.

I am confused. Is the new scoring system only for the default Yahoo scoring? Because I have a league with custom scoring settings. Will those get changed too?
Seems like a custom option. I think you could make it 0 if you want.

we are capping at 16, it was my understanding Cloudy is just making sure in case people bail. Also two ten person leagues? Bleh. We'd need more people in both leagues then.

Heh, do I need to commish a second league this year? Well, I'd consider it if necessary

They are just new options. I think default Yahoo leagues don't use them, and if you have your own custom settings then it's whatever you already had. Case in point, they only added all of the return TD types last year and those settings were never "Added" into existing leagues - you have to manually enable them.

That being said I personally think most of those categories are nonsense outside of IDP or crazy speciality leagues.

The only exception I've heard of is that I believe this year ESPN has added yards allowed to their standard defensive point settings. No other service does that by default AFAIK.

lol no. The whole point of fractional is to a) avoid ties and b) avoid that kind of edge scoring crap. People who want to experience the 99 yard effect can happily play a free league, of which two or more tend to appear on GAF. When money is involved this shit is serious(tm).

Oh, i'm not saying we should do two 10 team leagues, I'm pretty sure there's way more than just 20 people who want in.

With 17 votes in, it's 9-8 for $50. Either side will want a recount after some folks drop and we whittle out the 4 waitlist spots. How do you guys like my compromise idea?

Instead of a compromise of $75, you could always hedge things at $62.50. Leaves you with a combined prize pool of an even $1,000 (between 16 people) that way.

Cloudy said:
How did you come up with $62.50 and I have a feeling the $100 crowd won't prefer that lol
$62.50 x 16 = $1000... yay math!

I'm part of the $100 crowd too after all (albeit one that voted $50). I just want to get this on like Donkey Kong and don't want any of those $50 guys pull some pre-draft last-minute "oh I don't have the money to pay $100 in dues; I just bought Deus Ex and now I have to sell my spleen" excuse nonsense. :)

As one of the $100 people I'm cool with meeting in the middle if it means people wont drop, but I would still be interested in seeing if we could make 2 leagues. Seems like we could definitely make 2 teams of 12 if we tried right now and then we could probably find a few more people to make it 14.

I'm already in 2 pay leagues so we would need someone else to run the $50 league if we had one. Any volunteers?

Well? We have less than a month to decide on this. And we still have to decide on the winners split (top 3, 5 or 7) and share

As far as share goes with a 16-team league, I like the idea of a 4-division split, division winner gets their due back (assuming 6 playoff teams and two byes - or 8 playoff teams straight up). Then the league runner-up and winner split the remaining pot by a 2:1 ratio.

For example, at a $50 buy-in:

TOTAL POT: $800

LEAGUE CHAMP: $400
RUNNER-UP: $200
DIVISION WINNERS: $200 ($50/each split 4 ways)

At a $100 buy-in:

TOTAL POT: $1600

LEAGUE CHAMP: $800
RUNNER-UP: $400
DIVISION WINNERS: $400 ($100/each split 4 ways)

I know you've been doing this "Top 3" get paid scenario the past two years, but I'd feel awfully shitty being the 4th place team in that arrangement. Especially if that Week 15 contest was super close and the "3rd place team with a better record" got blown out in theirs.

Yeah top 3 seems crazy if we're going > $50 but I don't want to do divisions cos I want to keep things as balanced as possible (unless I'm wrong about how division play would work?)

Top 7 based on final results seems fair, no?

Does Yahoo even have a Divisional League setup? I've never seen it... also

Hey! change this! I always am willing to trade my virtual 1st round pick every year! Who's willing?
The main reason why draft pick trades wouldn't make much sense here is that draft order is set 30 minutes beforehand. If this was a long-term keeper league where the order was pre-determined (i.e. reverse the prior year's standings) it would be a doable idea but not with this format.
