Desulibeta's updated extension should help, although more reasonably sized files (like what 4chan has) would probably keep things from getting out of control.

Only downside (apart from increased cpu load when running a bunch) is if someone makes a super highres one and doesn't label it, mainly because it'll load much smaller than your average gif resolution ones.

The one Andrex made for chrome has mute enabled by default, so while the webm autoplays, you'd have to right click --> unmute for audio.

AFAIK, this is really no different than linking to short MP4 files. WEBM is another video format, produced by Google. So if one is embeddable at GAF (using <video> tag) the other one would be as well. Safari on Mac/iOS don't support webm btw.

Um. Safari on my OS X does. At least when I click it it opens a new tab and shows the Quicktime logo before the video.

And I've seen screenshots of it on iOS too so.

My dream extension would be for the YouTube Me extension and the ability to view .webm inline all together in one extension using HTML5 so I don't need Flash to load for the page. Get on that, hateradio! Please?

4chan added support for webm today.

Webm is a better version of gif, allowing higher resolution, longer vids, 60fps, etc.

Bunch of video game webm's that were created on /v/ made its way here, and now we are here with this thread

You mean they worked being displayed standalone versus as an embed? Because the only broken ones on the first page are 4chan links and the working ones are 4chan links from boards with longer timers or are hosted instead on pomf.se.

Like I said my saavyness with this stuff is so low that you'd be better off asking a middle schooler to do this.

Just learning how to edit gifts and now the format changes. Will this be easier or does the ability to edit them even exist yet?

If you create your gifs in a video editing program the workflow is pretty much the same, you just save to a webm file instead of a gif.

Seems if the .webm is taller than it is wide it'll grow until the width is however big it's set in the script.

gif made with gifcam at 33fps (or so it said) turned out to be 9MB, used http://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-webm to convert it to webm (around 700kb) then uploaded.

Now waiting on a gifcam like program but for webm. Gifcam is so so so easy to use.

Oh, yeah my computer (laptop anyway, haven't tried the desktop) slows down when looking at all of those MK8 wgifs at once, for instance.

A toggle for auto-play on or off could be a cool thing if that's somehow implementable. Generally prefer autoplay but slows with so many.

Also I guess it would be common courtesy to not quote the images, maybe.
