Yes, averages over 60 bucks just for the cart now, more so CIB.Jesus really? Even the Famicom one is pricey (glad I got that like 2 months ago)

Was playing Kid Dracula yesterday (finally), and that game is awesome. However, the final two bosses was frustrating as all hell, and I eventually gave up and wrote down the password. However, when I tried again today, I inserted the password, and was placed at level 7 (of 9). Is this a case of me having written down the wrong password (which can easily be done with the kanjis and whatnot), or is that simply the last password you get in this game?
Funny, I played through it yesterday myself. I'm not completely sure but I think I read somewhere that it won't give you the passwords for the last two levels.
How weird my Kid Dracula just came from Japan on Friday. That game is awesome. I love how the first level theme is a happy take on Castlevania III's opening music.
Ok, nice to know! Anyways, do you have some decent strat for the giant robot in the end? I think I tried for an hour on him, and could only beat him onceKid Dracula is just too damn slow.
Haha, yeah this is great!
I found this out yesterday. If you look closely you'll notice he bobs up and down a bit. When he's at the highest point is when you should run underneath him. That way he won't hit you when he drops down if you continue to run.
Aha, I didnt realize this. But can you run in this game? Or do you just have to be very precise?
That's insane!!!21 years in the making and I finally fucking beat Tyson. Best emulator for the job was puNES. And I did not use save states.
I feel like I can finally close a chapter of my oldschool gaming past.
No I just meant walk underneath
So yes, you have to be under the tip of the screw so to speak when he's at the highest point.
Very cool. What size TV do y'all prefer to play your NES? I lean towards 13 or 19in. Not sure why, maybe it gives me a PlayChoice feel or something. I fortunately have a couple of 13in TVs in the house on standby. This is how you do retro, GAF. My original NES and the original TV I played it on in the 80s.

Cool. I had a 13-inch Magnavox TV that I used for YEARS for gaming. I got it when I was like in kindergarten in 1984 or so. Used it from the time I got my NES in 87 through SNES, 3DO and PS1 until I went to college in 97. I always felt like the sharpness and color were so good on that thing. Only RF, though, so it was probably just my imagination. Kinda weird to think that Magnavox is like a shit budget brand now. This is how you do retro, GAF. I also never beat Tyson in my youth. It wasn't until about six or so years ago. He's actually rather easy to TKO once you know the patterns. I felt embarrassed that I hadn't beat him earlier.
That one as he's nearly impossible.=pInsane that it took that long or insane that I beat Tyson? I haven't been playing Punch Out for over 20 years straight but it's something I come back to every now and again.
It feels so fucking good to finally beat it legit.
I always exaggerate though!!!I think impossible is a gross exaggeration!

Guys what is the differences between a US top loader and a Famicom AV?

So if I was to get an RGB modded Famicom AV. and an adapter to play NTSC Nes games there would be little difference between this and a modded top loader?

I run FDS to RGB AV Famicom. I'm eventually going to RGB mod an original Fami as a dedicated FDS machine. OG Fami+FDS so sexy.Is there a consensus on the best way to play FDS games? I'm getting itchy to play through some and am having a hard time deciding what hardware to go with...
Even if you do the sound mod on the NES?Flash carts don't do FDS correctly at all, both main ones have off sound, making the games unplayable. So has to be the real thing.
So what is the deal with the disk system. Since I've never really imported games I never really looked into what it actually is.
It's an add-on floppy disk drive for the Famicom. Originally the floppies allowed for larger games than cartridges at the time since they had more storage capacity, and the disks were rewriteable so you could save your game. Zelda was the first game for the FDS for example. Metroid was another title which allowed you to save your progress. And Excitebike allowed you to save your tracks. Games were also cheaper to manufacture, which meant cheaper prices for consumers as well.
Cartridge storage capacity quickly became larger than the floppies though, which resulted in less and less games released for the FDS as games became bigger and more ambitious. Most of the later ones are cheap, crappy shovelware. I think there were around 200 FDS games released in total.
