Ha, I wish it was a standard for me since I don't have too many no death runs(just 12 right now) and as I play the toughest games expect more deaths(Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden 3, Bayou Billy, Ghost N Goblins, etc., will kick my ass)...however 1CCs are still possible! I want at least 50 no death runs.=pAh thought you must. It took me forever to figure out capturing old consoles well.
My yt is www.youtube.com/hugzi got a few respectable game plays on there amongst other stuff. Nothing to your no death standard though!
Yeah, Volgarr definitely looked that hard to me. Have to complete a several-minute-long stage with plenty of gotcha-traps and no checkpointing. It's balanced out by infinite continues (as far as I could ascertain from watching slowbeef stream it), but progression can be really sluggish.
I have good news -- if you want to get the good ending in Volgarr, you can sort of forget about that "infinite continues" thing -- the good ending requires beating the game in one sitting, without using any saves. Forget that, that game is crushingly difficult to even beat one level, and as fun a classic Rastan-style game as it is, making the game even harder than Rastan and then intentionally putting in a very limited save system that you can't even use if you want a decent ending is inordinately cruel. It's not 1990 anymore, games should have saving now. Volgarr is inordinately cruel.
Shatterhand will be a big part of my Friday night, I think. Anyone start digging into it yet?
Yup! Funny story about that, a few years back when I was still actively looking for NES games, I had almost bought Final Mission off of ebay for dirt cheap even before I had a Famicom, it was something like $10. The next day I went to the flea market and found S.C.A T. for $5 *lol*

lol yeah I got mine for 3 bucks. I almost did a back flip when I saw it lol. Had to pull the biggest poker face ever, and kinda waffle through the games first. Then before he could even finish his sentence on how much they were each, I blurted out "yes" lol.
At any rate, i'm off Friday too, so that'll be Shatterhand starting as well.
So someone out there makes a Famicom to Playstation controller adapter, which frankly blows my mind a bit.

Tempted to try to find a mint-ish Playstation Controller to try it out.
Fake Edit: Like this one I found on eBay, new in box for $35:

Did magazines ever use RGB for capturing article shots?
Great story!
For me, after having totally enjoyed Forgotten Worlds on Genesis, there were these two other games that intrigued me but I didn't know much about them. Hyper Dyne Side Arms on PCE / TG-16 and S.C.A.T. for NES.
Here's another look at FM / S.C.A.T.
Side Arms brings back memories of riding my bike to the local convenience store and playing the arcade version, along with the Play-Choice 10 version of SMB2. That convenience store always got in some weird games.
Eventually I'd like to pick up the HAL-developed Ghostbusters 2 for the Famicom but holy shnikies is it expensive. It's also one of the few games I've searched for specifically that seems to have more CIB copies than cart-only copies.
Update on my toploader: I opened it up, but I don't really know what I'm looking for exactly. And the pins appear fine? I don't know... it's definitely quite different than the front-loader model (obv) which I'm familiar with. I got cold feet and closed it back up. I'll have to mess with it more in the future.
As for Famicom storage, I found these things at a local thrift store. They're awesome.

Famicom version goes for a fortune. What is the going rate for this? I basically just picked it up for 40$, which seemed ok. Not great looking though.

PAL one should be alright, AU$50 I'd say.

You played as a dragon? Or maybe some sort of dinosaur? I have super vague memories of it. I think I remember an early level being very blue, but I have no idea.
