Netflix Dahmer series coming soon

Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Jenkins as Lionel Dahmer. It's out sometime in October.

There's nothing interesting about Dahmer. He was just a lonely alcoholic that drilled holes in guys and injected drain cleaner into their brains in attempts to create mindless zombie friends he could hang out with, only to end up eating these failed experiments. Couple that with police run-ins that saw law enforcement returning an early fleeing murder victim to him simply because they didn't want to get involved in what they considered to be nothing more than a weird gay spat between boyfriends, and what else are we really left with? A prison murder? Montage videos about picking up guys at dance clubs and sorting the contents of freezers?

Sigh, there's just not much here. I wish we could get an inspirational Netflix show about legendary e-sports heroes and their climb to fame.

Or a third season for Mindhunter
I would only support this if they removed 100% of the private lives of the detectives themselves, you know, the stuff literally nobody but the author of the book actually gives a shit about. It dragged down the book and it dragged down the show.

I think they were setting up something interesting with the wicked son and the closeted psycho, too bad we'll never know.
Well, that's the problem with trying to dramatize real life events. The business half of the story is riveting because it sticks to historical facts, people, investigations, and interactions. All that other fluff was nonsense that had no place in the show.

I'll be honest with you I watched it over five years ago once and I can't remember exactly what I thought was lacking. Maybe it was slow going for me or I expected more gore. I'm not sure I just remember the build up to the film with anticipation and when I watched it, it was an anticlimax.
It's a lot better if you're aware of it being based on a graphic novel written by his high school friend and the film/graphic novel are more from the perspective of how he knew him at the time. It sounds like you wanted something more like 2002's Dahmer that starred Jeremy Renner. For this show as soon as I saw the mention of Ryan Murphy being attached my expectations dropped significantly. He hasn't done anything of value since the first seasons of American Horror Story.

What about the large barrels of human remains he kept in the kitchen? I remember when this happened it was shocking but people joked about it.

It wasn't til years later that I paid attention to the crazier details of this story. The cops not believing that over guy and basically setting him up to be eaten

Huh weird so they made a show on the basis of some weird throwaway line in this song?

Weird!

Yeah I don't know why they keep making stuff about this guy. Everyone knows the story by now, he dead, there's already what, two movies about him? Give it a rest.

In November 2019, a potential third season was reported to have been put on indefinite hold until Fincher finished working on his next film, Mank. Fincher plans to make five seasons.

In January 2020, Netflix announced that the cast had been released from their contracts and that the series was on indefinite hold, as Fincher was busy with other projects.

A Netflix spokesperson stated, "He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn't fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own." In October 2020, Fincher confirmed the series was done for now, and a Netflix spokesperson said that a third season may be possible "maybe in five years".

The next month, some of the reasons to suspend the series were fleshed out – cost (Fincher stated, "It had a very passionate audience, but we never got the numbers that justified the cost."), production (the second season showrunner was fired and eight of the scripts were rewritten), management (co-producer Peter Mavromates said of Fincher, "Even when he wasn't directing an episode, he was overseeing it."), and exhaustion (Fincher said, "I certainly needed some time away").

I would like to say that this looks terrible and is exploitive... but I'll probably watch it and enjoy it anyway.

what is more disturbing to me is he thought he could turn his victims into zombie slaves by drilling into their skulls and pouring various acidic chemicals and cleaning products in there.

Obviously he was batshit crazy and his victims died immediately, I dread to think what would have happened to those poor bastards if he had tried less lethal methods first.

My wife started watching this yesterday and is enjoying it. I'm not so sure I can get into it. The fact it's a true story makes it a difficult watch.

It's not as if people are using this as a template or anything.

Unrelated, does anyone know the best way to purchase 50 bottles of bleach and plastic sheeting? Amazon delivery is too expensive. Thank.
It's not about copycatting, it's about compassion for others.

I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch this knowing it is based on real events off beyond a horrific nature, plus I don't think I could stomach any graphic scenes, if it isn't too graphic, then maybe.

Someone who has watched it, let me know.

Well...

The 1st episode contains skulls, mashed up torsos in a barrel, knives (big ones), drugging, few more skulls, complete human skeletons

And noisy neighbours. I think the show will get more graphic too.. :messenger_neutral:
