I find that stereotypistic baiting shit incredibly offensive and i'm not even gay.
This Netflix gay push and shoving gay stuff into every show is turning people off at least in my region based on social media posts and people I meet in real life. It is so bad people I meet are seriously wondering if It is a requirement to greenlight the shows/seasons.
I agree it looks pretty dumb.Seems like they're poking fun at themselves, and there really isn't that much TV out there that caters to gay people, so go for it. It's not for me but I hope others enjoy it.
But. Which takes precedence when it comes to media and representation?
1. Gays/lesbians are like everyone else, you cant tell most of the time, so just have them look and act like the average person
2. Make it obvious they are gay/lesbian but in a low key way.
3. Make it super obvious they are LGTQ so it makes them stick out for sake of attention and representation, while catering to the most flamboyant part of the group (includes for comedic effect like the cartoon is parodying)?
So if you're a writer or director, which one you choose?
