Saturnman: I'm sort of just remembering how to draw. I'd probably like coloring more if I had a tablet. Until that time, sketches aplenty.

When you do, please go in the direction of your Jill pic:

Were you heavy_liquid on old GAF?

No, that'd be me.. ;)

I'll have to go through my computer and see if there's anything I want to post when I get home. I haven't been drawing too much, lately.

Wow mint, I really like those!! Can you talk a little about the process that went into making them? I'm curious :)
hi there ^^
I use photoshop to edit my pictures.
Use the brightness/contrast slider to adjust the overall feeling of the image. colorbalance for the colorscheme + saturation. I then use different dirt textures that i applied to the picture to make it look more grungy. final touchups with airbrush (shadows, highlights etc. were handpainted with a tablet).
For the pictures, I use a camera+tripod, and take about 20 shots or so until I find one I am happy with. I have a really crappy tripod lol but once you get used to it you can do pretty cool things :D

Hehe, thanks for remembering. That was an agonizing process, but I learned a lot from it. There are things I like and don't like about it but it's something I'd like to explore again. Just not while using a mouse. :p

Just sketched up a pre-grad Naruto. I tried to express his loneliness with the eyes, mouth and overall posture. I hope it comes across.

Heres my 2 cents
Early concepts on a cyber angel me and a homie are working on

Tonight concept work while listeing to the Wizard loose.
The torso needs major work.... but i finally have an arm i began to like (after 9 or so tries)
Still I might go with the disjointed look @ the clavacle. and have that arealook as if it can pivot in awkward directions that just dont seem natural. hmmmmmm.

Cool, thanks for the info. If you have any more work like the pics you posted, I'd love to see it. In my pictures, I play with saturation, contrast, etc., but I haven't experimented much with selective editing. Is the blooming around the light in the first pic natural, or did you add that in afterwards? Do you have any resources you can recommend for photo manipulation techniques? I'd like to try my hand at something like this in addition to straight photography.

And if you think your tripod sucks, this is what I use:

But then, I'm just an amateur, and can't afford anything better right now :)

Lots of great artwork here, as usual. I just have to comment on Newb's guitar, which so happens to be my favorite out of the bunch. That is some excellent work dude! Keep it up!

Thanks man, its nice to hear words of encouragement when you’re working in a new media. I'm still trying to find one to focus on though; I 'm just trying to find my strengths before I chose a college course next year.

Good stuff Mana. Are you painting using traditional mediums or are doing this digitally?

Newb, you definitely need to try something else using the same medium (oil pastel?). If this is the first time using it, then color me impressed. The guitar just came out awesome.

This is a picture I did on my break at work a few months ago.

And this is the color version. First time I've made a serious attempt at coloring my art, so it took a godawful long time, but now that I've done it, I know the approach I'll take and it should be faster.

Here's a couple of drawings in a new style I'm experimenting with, inspired by early Peanuts/Calvin & Hobbes.

Nice work guys.

Beautiful sculpture Newbie. Keep us posted on it's progress.

Here's what I'm working on right now. Still a ways before completion. Those horizontal lines are due to scanning it in peices (it's around 12x20). I'm also working blue and red versions of the same painting.

Heh, looks like Newb has been taking his creativity pills. First, we get the guitar painting and now a sculpture... sheesh that's impressive.

Anyhow, it's nice to see the thread is still alive. Lots of nice new work. Here's a little something I finished up minutes ago.

Wow, that looks awesome. The eyes are especially nice.

Here's something I'm working on at the moment.

I've redrawn the hand so it's more proportional, but I'm too lazy to upload until I get another major chunk done.
