In a video I watched with one of the devs, he was mentioning that this time the maps weren't being made to reflect real world events and the focus was solely on creating a fun environment for people to play in.

From some of the videos, it appears that is the case (ie. explosions causing bodies to blow across an alley with arms/legs flinging about realistically).
