Had high hopes for BF2024, not sure what to expect with this one. I guess BF4 vibes here even though I prefer BF1. I also wonder if there will be a 128 player mode eventually if the launch game is a success.

4 times the charm. Maybe just do a batlefield 3 and make like 20 maps at launch.

lol just stop, you not getting no fucking 20 maps at launch lol

I feel, maybe if they are a mixture of remastered maps or something, but 20 sounds wildly unrealistic.

Just to give some perspective, no Battlefield in the entire series history has ever released with 20 maps.

This new game seems to be returning to basics for the upcoming Battlefield. In a discussion with Zampella, he spoke about his return to the modern era. "I mean, if you look back to the peak or the pinnacle of Battlefield, it's that Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 era where everything was modern. And I think we have to get back to the core of what Battlefield is and do that amazingly well, and then we'll see where it goes from there."
This gives me hope. Hopefully no shitty operators whose sexual orientation I somehow need to know to be able to play BF. I wish there were no women but I know that's not gonna happen. Nothing against women, I just don't enjoy shooting them and hearing their screams.

No bullshit trailers either hopefully. Trailers should be only actual gameplay. If your gameplay is good then just showcasing it is all you need to do, like the BF4 trailers:

I am also a person that trusts in Vince and knowing that he is behind battlefield gives me some reason to be hopeful. It might have lots of things that other games have but if anything he is the sole reason I can have hope in this one title. Otherwise if he wasnt attached then I wouldnt even be bothering talking about the game

-64 player maps
-4 studios working on it
-Specialists are out

Really hoping they can redeem themselves. I got burnt hard on 2042 paying for the premium edition. When it was working I actually had a lot of fun in Portal mode playing some of the classic maps. But majority of the time it was a buggy mess or finding any server with the minimum amount of players became impossible.

My Totally Reasonable Wishlist for Battlefield 6:
1. 64p only ✅
2. Classes and no Specialists ✅
3. Any setting other than modern day ❌
4. Server browser and server renting ❔
5. Limited movement (ie no jump strafing, limited bunnyhopping, limited sliding, etc) ❔
6. Fortifications ❔
7. No Metro style maps unless one is a specific remake of Metro ❔
8. A majority focus on mixed layout maps (vehicle and infantry in balance), think Provence, Arras, Wake Island, Solomon Islands. ❔
9. Class locked weapons, very limited all class weapons ❔
10. No attachment spam, back to the Specialization system from BFV ❔
11. Limited self healing with health and ammo stations on the map❔
12. Vehicle attrition with repair and re-arm bays on the map ❔
13. Console-PC crossplay opt-in only, PC never allowed on console servers, only console on PC. ❔

And why would they do that?

After the lackluster reputation of the last one and the saturation of Battlefield games, I think it's going to be pretty tough for them to get the revenue/sales they're hoping for.

It really needs to be a stellar product if they want to regain their former success.

It has been a decade since BF was really good.
And to make things worse, a good chunk of the team that made the good BF, have left DICE.
I doubt that the people that are now there, don't have the talent and skill to make a proper good Battlefield.

Bf5 is low key one of the best in the franchise. Movement is unmatched and they introduced a lot of very good ideas (construction, the squad leader that Can use the squad's points for missile strikes, limited ammo for vehicles with recharging stations etc .) I hated this game at first but now it's one of my favorite.
BF1 is also excellent, they just shat the bed with 2042.

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree.
It's easily one of the worst. Though not has terrible as BF 2024.
Battlefield 4 was the last properly good Battlefield.

I mostly agree with this actually. They obviously need to take the time with this one and make a good game.

Hopefully they can bring back the magic

What don't you like about bf5?

They removed Rush.
Map design is not great.
The building mechanics.
Terrible TAA implementation and no option to disable it.
Gunplay is not as tight and fun as with BF3 or BF4.
The WW2 setting limits weapon variety.
And as an history nerd, a lot of the guns and attachments, are complete bullshit.

When Battlefield 3 and 4 were out. You could see them going toe to toe with the competition. They released Hardline, BF1, and 2042 and that feeling went away. I didn’t want to give them a penny for those games.

I'm down for this, and I have high hopes whether I should or not. BF3/4 are up there with COD4/MW2/SOCOM 2/Halo3 for me multiplayer wise. I also didn't hate BF2042 as much as most people and I have like 200 hours in it I believe (probably more as I played some on PS5 as well). It definitely improved a ton from launch.

Please bring destruction back!

That last point really kills me because I'm the same way. It's why I haven't really been able to get into these WW2 CODs and BF. My brain says no, this is wrong there wasn't a fucking red dot on a Suomi KP31 lol.

Battlefield 1 was good enough that I was able to sort of ignore it, but BF5 was not a good enough game for me to ignore that on top of all the other issues which I agree with you on too.

Honestly I think the downfall of this series is trying to do 'the next big thing'. Go back to BF4 mechanics, some better and meaningful levelution. Vehicles just needed a bit of fine tuning
I don't need that levolution shit, if it means the destructability is reduced to one big event an every map. I rather get the destructability of bad company 2 back

I don’t see why people are negative about 64 players. 2042’s massive player size and enormous maps is what made destruction almost nonexistent on the 128 player maps. Going back to 64 players with current gen only will hopefully allow for highly advanced destruction and physics. Add in the actual modern setting, which 2042 was not, and Dice could have a treat on their hands if they do it right.

From the interview looks like switch 2 is also on the menu! Also agree smaller maps would be fine by me.

Interesting that 2042 has seemingly been rehabilitated... like a sucker I pre-ordered the overpriced edition, and dropped the game totally within a week. There was some god-awful PvPvE extraction type mode..? The game just wasn't that fun. I'd circle back but I have more games than time at the moment... how much will it cost to retire to a shack in the middle of nowhere with Starlink I wonder.

They need to bring back vehicles that spawn in at home bases and capture points and do away with the stupid player magic spawn-inside-a-new-vehicle. Going to the airfield and finding a plane to jump into and take off down a runaway, or a patrol boat moored against a battleship to commandeer and reach shore guns a blazing, was one of my favorite BF experiences, starting all the way back to BF1942.

People will always spawn camp vehicles, whether in-game or in-menu. Making the game less realistic with stupid magic point spawning is not the solution.

Good luck, you burnt all your fans (incl me) with battlefield v and 2042. No one wants this.
You'll somehow fuck this up.
Battlefield 2042 was by far the biggest story in 2021 and there's been a huge hate bubble around it ever since, it was the second biggest launch in battlefield history despite the reviews, the gun attachments felt fresh, maps like Kaleidoscope, Orbital, and Renewal have longevity that throws in 128 players and are reminiscent of Battlefield 4 maps.

What? Games in the past had levolution or environmental elements.

Both features I liked along with many other players.

I'd rather they focus on the core elements first and make them epic before they start brining in extra elements.

The enviromental destruction peaked in Bad Company 2, all BF games post BC2 had inferior destruction.

I said the same thing when 2042 was announced, 'I really hope the destruction is the best yet' and we got absolute shit.

After all the updates, it's a really good game. It's not the level of the others BFs but it's a great game. I played more than 200 hours, and had a great time.

I don't know guys, BUT WHAT I REALLY MISS is the scoreboard and the old ribbons:
