EA did a smart move buying Criterion. Looks awesome.

Man, that is pretty good. Criterion is probably the only good team EA has at their disposal now (I mean good talent wise of course :D)

Shattered tree's ftw! Looks good, cant wait for their next gen takedowns.

but not the shitty 360 revenge garbage

Yeah, EA, please don't screw with Criterion too much. I want to see what this team can pull off with a game engine built ground-up for next gen hardware.

As opposed to morally?

A few games this gen (Mario Sunshine springs to mind) have really fucked me over. I always used to assume that if we only got screens of similar looking areas, they were just holding back. Now though, I assume the whole game will look like that, so I'm not half relieved when I see screens like these.

Atmosphere looks brilliant.

EDIT: Actually, just to be a picky bastard, the screen where you can see a soldier walking past a fallen tree looks pretty weird. Looks like the way a bulding might break, not a tree. I dunno, maybe they'll add some sort of splintering effect before release or something.

Holy crap a new area, that's so freaking slick.

EDIT: Mmmkay if you are reading this it looks like your thread got archived and you need to start a new one :)

Looks like Battlefront forests with softened lighting (or bloom or whatever it's called). What's so amazing here?
The fact that this game is like 110% non-stop action that gets your blood pumping and also it looks better/more fun than Battlefront

That its being done on current gen systems and runs at 60fps.

I don't know, this looks as good as I would expect on a current gen system; not better, not worse. I didn't know it ran at 60 fps, though.

I don't recall anyone saying this was ever going to run @ 60 fps.

I think we're setting ourselves up for a disappointment with this one. I mean, it's just too damn good to be true. If the environments are truly as destructable as they say, it seems like it would have to be next gen.

I hope I'm wrong, and if/when I am, I'll be first in line to pick this game up. Looks like it could be an action fiesta.

I just hope that it's actually fun to play, the gameplay videos they've shown have all looked very so-so and boring.

Based on the thread title I came in here thinking I would see lovely blank black squares.

Imagine my disappointment.

Sadly, Criterion wasn't prepared to publicly release any media of Black just yet; as the team was adamant about keeping it and its conventions a secret for just a bit longer. Even so, you'll have to take our word for it that the game is absolutely stunning; with a bevy of special effects, animation, and lighting bits with almost no slowdown from the 60fps benchmark at all. We really wish we could show it to you, as we haven't been this excited for a game in quite sometime. Hopefully, we'll soon be back to tell you even more reasons why.

This thread is useless without Battlefront forest pics. You can't just tease us with a pic war like that!

going by Criterion's typical bullshit the "online mode" is so important to the game they clearly cant put it on GC....

really ? that sucks but still maybe we might get a honest answer for a change on why the lack of GC support.
At this point, the excuse would be "lack of sales"...

It would require too much effort to port it to the GC when one considers how poorly it would sell. The GC is basically a dead system, at this point.

Looks alright. Lack of shadows REALLY stands out in a couple of those shots.
I much prefer the city to this and I would love to see this title on the 360.

Maybe because Criterion makes to want money?
ding ding ding

That's one major reason, but along with that, comes the extra coding requirements. They've been away from GC for a while now while they've been pushing PS2 to its limits (and bringing XBOX along for the ride). I'm sure they are applying a lot of the knowledge gained from BO3 and Revenge to the creation of Black...and since none of that experience exists on the GC hardware, I don't think it would be a simple port. They'd end up putting a lot of work into the GC version and likely get nothing out of it...
