I dont think it looks that bad but it seems a lot like another Jimmy Nuetron episode. At least they're trying bold stuff with an alien invasion and a bunch of off the wall stuff. I just wonder where this stuff was when they were making their formula safe animated features the past 10 years. Home on the Range was the biggest pile of shit I've ever seen despite some actual interesting visual style.

Anyway, I'll make sure never to give Disney a dollar of my money for this. I'll check it out if somebody else rents it one day but i am not supporting Disney

This is what we get in exchange for Disney dismantling their traditional feature animation departments. They're going all CG in an attempt to out-Pixar Pixar.

J2 is right, it does look like a Nickelodeon CG thing. It may turn out OK, but their creativity-by-committee approach doesn't work. I don't have great expectations for this one.

Looks better than Cars. And Disney had already said that they would stop making 2D films because people didn't want to see them anymore. It is under new management, so who knows, but if this movie succeeds, they may never go back.

PS: The first thing I thought when I saw the first few secs of this trailer was "Titor?" Stupid GAF.

It's because the 2D animation department is bankrupt on ideas.

Here's a new 2D animaed trailer from Disney..

Pooh's Heffalump Movie

And they don't know why nobody's seeing 2D animation anymore?

I reckon Cars looks pretty good. I didn't like Finding Nemo's original teaser, but loved the final product.

I've been saying this for ages now. They seem to have this sick obsession with blaming the number of dimensions rather than their own script department. People want good stories, no matter what form of animation is used.

Exactly, it's not that people have shunned 2D movies. Look at sales for Disney's platinum dvd's. You have to make good material before you could say people aren't interested in a medium. Especially one with as many possibilities as hand drawn animation. People havent even touched the surface when you look at artistic styles throghout history.

3D's just the new thing that Pixar has implanted in people's subconcious, 3D = quality. Oh, and any money says Pooh's movie hits 20 million based on interest and nam alone. Shows right there you create and interest and you get viewers. Even something as wrong to put in theaters as that.

*sigh*

It really does look like a cheap Nickelodeon movie, although with a higher budget. The character designs aren't very interesting. The pig is beyond awkward and that dorky duck girl is just ugly. That last gag with the father doesn't give me much hope for the humor. The environments and the alien stuff looks really great though. The next trailer will have to really show something good as I don't see too much potential here and it's not like the talent involved has a track record that gives me confidence (like John Lasseter in the case of Cars). Depending on reviews and popular reaction, I might grab it through Netflix eventually.

I recall enjoying the Pooh TV series back when I was a kid, but this movie looks pretty lame. Is there even a plot? The Tigger Movie pulled in $45 million in 2000, so I'm sure this one will do well enough. Can't say much for the animation though, but that's to be expected when all of these features are done by the home and television departments (not that they have a 2D film animation division anymore).

I find myself so torn on the Disney issue. Their stock makes me a lot of money, but I dislike so much of their creative direction nowadays. If only they could find a way to be successful and make great animated films again.

I'm pretty sure that this was being done by the guys who did Emperor's New Groove.
The prosecution rests.
