New computer or a Scooter?

Hey that rhymes.

Anyways, I dont have a car and my computer is over 3 years old. I could use a new computer for games, programming, game design, etc. I don't have a car, and I would only be driving around the city. Problem is, I live in seattle, and it rains, a lot. I would spend around $1600 on either.

Here is the scooter I am looking at:

Or I will build my computer with Athlon 64 3500+ socket 939, 1 gb corsair xms ram, radeon x800 xt, new case, new power supply, new everything pretty much except keyboard, mouse and moniter. I can only do one or the other because I am still in school. I really dont want to get a car because of insurance and gas would be way more. I know I wont be picking up chicks in this, it doesn't matter. I hate bussing. I can park anywhere with the scooter too, which is nice. My computer is a piece of shit, and I would like to be able to play HL2 etc. and be able to use all of the tools I need to make games etc. (mod making). Would you stay on the bus for a kick ass computer? Would you cruise around on a scooter? I do have a job persay, but it's only $100 a month which goes to food and gas if I get the scooter (or a game a month is my limit). Would any girl want to get a ride to a date on a scooter? Arg, choices.

Scooters are like fat women. You have fun riding them, but don't want your mates to find out.

Go with a puter then save for a car.

$100/month? WTF - I got more allowance than that ;P
Do you need a license to operate that thing? I think, around here (toronto), you need a motorcycle license.

If I were you, I'd just get a new mountain bike and a not-so-top-of-the-line computer.
You can't really go many places on a scooter - certainly nowhere you can't go on a mountain bike.

I work about a half an hour a week for $100 a month, its not that bad. I dont want to get a job because I am lazy and school takes up a lot of time. I did an internship and have this money, so the computer is the way to go?

Hey, man. My name's RaymondCarver. Nice to meet you.

It seems we have one of the same type of problems here.

I'd suggest learning to live without your computer OR get a new computer and make money with it.

Personally, if I have a slow computer I feel like freaking out until I get it up to par ... Oddly enough, I'm learning to live without the thing being up to snuff on games. I'm almost done with college, and I can't really afford new system specs because the cost of living is about to go wayyyy up. College = over next year, and I don't think I'm going to grad school.

And also, I wouldn't buy a 16-pipeline card just now because I don't think the X800's are worth the money yet. You, sir, are on a budget--as am I. Neither needs to spend that much on silicon if we have the other needs to tend to. You should buy one if and only if you can make money with it.

Speed in games = disposable income, no matter how much we classify it as a need.

I ordered the computer, everything but the video card. I will hold out a little longer and use my spare TNT 2 (CRY) for the time being.

This is the smartest statement on these boards in weeks.
