So it's basically just a remake. That sucks.

It has OL mode included, and reportedly an extended single player mode. Unless they've drastically improved the gameplay since E3, I prefer Up Your Arsenal's OL mode..

A great buy for anyone who hasn't played the N64 one though.

Yeah, and that's MANY! It's the whole purpose why they are remaking this.

I could care less about the online personally, I just want that good 'ol Rare singelplayer experience :)

Well many people haven't played FFVII or SM64 either, but you don't see them whoring out those same- oh. Uh... damn.

oooh, those must be the WW2-themed multiplayer skins, (theres future levels as seen at e3 and WW2 levels) looking good.

Online was really fun at E3. I'll be able to compare it to UYA this weekend when I finally have time to crack that game open and hit up some multiplayer.

GAFfers should schedule a playdate. :P

Yeah, let's definitely try to hook something up this weekend. I'm on West Coast time like you and my game ID will probably be Teddman. I posted in the UYA online forum thread too.

I just got my OXM, and went and played the Conker demo...Pretty good, but you can tell it's not finished. Like the boss that you fight has no death animation...Your shooting, then all of the sudden, your to assume he's dead, because Conker is doing something else in the cut-scene. Pretty solid demo though. I'm looking forward to it.

I think this game is gonna do sell about the same it did on N64, It came out at the end of N64's life and now it's coming out again at the end of Xbox's life. :S

Uh, nice comparison there. SM64 was a launch title and the ONLY game (aside from an extemely low print-run Pilotwings) at the N64 launch. Almost everyone who owned the system played the game.

Conker came out at the end of the lifecycle of the N64 when most people had moved on to the PSX or DC. The game sold horribly, so it's true that not many people got to play the game which is why Rare remade it.

Does anyone have numbers for Conker BDF? I thought someone said it sold like 300k.
Last I heard, Riddick sold 250k and people were calling it a success.

6 months vs lifetime sales since dec 2000 or so? I'd hardly make such a comparison.

Normally I'd agree with you. But (1) Conker BDF didn't get that much time to sell and (2) I don't expect Riddick is going to be a title with legs.

According to a recent CubeIGN mailbag, Conker sold around 450,000. I think that's a great number but Nintendo published titles seem to carry hefty expectations.

As for Riddick. They didn't do TV ads, there wasn't much hype before the game came out, and the movie it was tied into bombed hard and was hated by critics. Licensed games based on hit movies sell well but it's rare that one can survive a tie-in to one that didn't do well.

I agree that the current font is horrible at best. I hope they change it for the final version. Something that looks more like the original version.

Am I mad or do I recall old shots from this game looking WAAAAAAAAY better?
(not that this look bad, but they certainly aren´t those)
Where those photoshoped?

So it's kind of like Halo 2? Remake the same single player w/ minimum effort into that, and make the game for online play? I kidd' I kidd' :D Sounds cool. I loved it on N64. I just thought the visuals were so damn beautiful. Usually companies seem to think make it cel shaded and it looks like a cartoon but really, this is the kind of imaginitve world that feels as alive as a great animated flick. Every piece of it is just so well crafted. It's a joy to go through this game.

And being a remake this is akin to a dvd getting a beautiful transfer after previously only being on vhs. Artistitcally, this game deserves to look that polished just to make the vision complete. Online play should be a blast too. Me and my friends went nuts with Conker back when it released. A one man army going for the flag with a single katana just feels as bad ass as ever. Use stealth and get into close corner combat for best chance, watch for snipers. Just a blast.

But with that said, hopefully they get a sequel in the makes, with emphasis on another fully thought out single player campaign. Online is fantastic to have, but not every game should have it(resident evil, shenmue) and not every game series should turn its attention solely to online. Conker's BFD's awesome single player never would have been created then and I thought it was one of the funniest, most entertaining, and most satisfying games I've played.

:lol @ Van Hellsing

my most wanted game of 2005, its great to see some updated stuff in there. Should be fun to discover the extra stuff they've added (please LOTR parody)

I bet we'll see some updated humour too, heres hoping for more Master Chief piss takes. Good ol Rare humour

And im looking foward to the online mode just as much. I read loads of reports the praised the multiplayer, some very neat things they're doing. Ninja squirel with a light saber = rock

you aren't mad. The videos look much better than these screenshots. I believe the game will look great.

Only Rare can manage to take 4 years to do a remake of their own game.

your underestimating the work involved with online games. Testing, balancing, tweaking, getting the netcode perfect (they should get bungie to help them out, halo2 online is perfect) etc

Besides, we all know its going to be literally ozzing polish. Maybe some extra content, who knows.

The original guy behind conker on n64 is leading the development, so its all good

Ratchet & Clank: UYA had an online mode in under a year with voice chat, clans, and rankings. And the multiplayer itself is fun as hell.

i dont know much about R&C and PS2 online so i cant comment. But this will be another killer app for XBL, i dont mind Rare taking the time they need to perfect the online mode. I dont want some laggy shit like battlefront

multiplayer looks like fun.

prefer the comic-book style font from the N64 version though, also don't like the look of the dracula dude (forgot his name)... just looks odd.

and LOL, i didn't even notice that he's dressed as Van Helsing now. that's nice.
