looks very good but seriously.. when its free why making it as DLC in the first place?..
Maybe it's not done yet?
Maybe releasing these boss fights slowly over the course of a few months extends excitement and thus sales?

Jesus this game looks so fun and good.
awwww man..'-(There are no English subtitles.
(pic of him in DQX)
less than 2 weeks until release and no mention of any multiplayer or online element probably means there isn't any in the game?
“There are no plans for completely synchronous multiplayer,” Ogasawara said, “but we will be incorporating a fun little element that uses the network. We haven’t officially announced that yet, but I think you’ll enjoy it.”
They did something similar with DQIX, although due to the nature of the DS, many of the locked superbosses could be accessed easily.looks very good but seriously.. when its free why making it as DLC in the first place?..
He's had his own spinoff series since the Super Famicom. They did something similar with DQIX, although due to the nature of the DS, many of the locked superbosses could be accessed easily.
Why is Torneko popular among Japanese players?

We need to start pestering Yoshida for a Western localization.
If this gets released here it might be the first Musou game I buy.
Healslime <3
The hell you're taking about???Game looks great though I really hope SE will not make a habit of releasing DQ games on Sony platforms again. I don't want to buy a PS4-shaped dongle just to get my fix.
What are the chances of DQXI appearing on PS4? History has shown us that DQ goes to the most popular console and stays exclusive but it also has shown us they've been gone weird with a portable and local multiplayer focused IX and a lame-ass Japan exclusive MMO Wii and WiiU DQX.
Think about this: the graphical benchmark for DQ games comes from a 2004 PS2 game (DQVIII)!!!

Sweet! There will at least be a DQ remake on PS4
according to verendus
The main site has it listed as a single player game.

プレイヤー数:1人
Players: 1
This also was mentioned during an interview at the Taipei Game Show

Sweet!
Two questions:
1) ps4 remake of which DQ?
2) who's Verendus and why should I believe his, I'm guessing, leak?
Whether they're specifically delivering a message regarding DQXI or not, there'll be more DQ on PS4 after this.
5. On the back of that, FFXII HD on current gen is basically confirmed at this point. As is one of the older Dragon Quest titles in HD (I've genuinely forgot which number though since it's been a while). In addition to that, there is a spin-off Final Fantasy title planned for consoles. Not big budget. Not FFX or FF7 in case people take it there. Not a traditional RPG either.
The hell you're taking about???
It'll be interesting to see which version will sell the most and whether the DQ brand will be enough to shift some Ps4's.
These are the type over games that'll tip me over the point where I have to get a Ps4, so I hope it'll come out West.
Exactly my thoughts. Was thinking "Wow. This is going to sell a fuck ton of PS4's in Japan!" until the end of the video showed it was being released for last gen systems. Sony should have begged SE on its hands and knees to not back-port it.
Japan isnt the West and even if they did make it PS4 only all you are doing is locking out a good portion of the market.
The system still has a way to go before having a large enough library of market specific games to make folks feel a purchase to be more justified for a game.
Sides if it does well overall most def a 2nd title will be made for just the PS4 as by that time the PS3 production (software wise) would be ramped down and the market penetration of the PS4 higher.
I don't think I agree. Even if this isn't a new numbered game in the series, you're underestimating Japan's love for Dragon Quest, and this looks goddamned amazing. Can't see the Japanese market ignoring this if it was a 'PS4 Only' release. And it's not like there aren't other big name titles from SE and others coming down the pipeline for PS4 this year.

free strong enemy DLCs.
Psaro The Manslayer (Dragon Quest IV)
Zoma (Dragon Quest III)
Nokturnus (Dragon Quest VI)
Bjorn (Dragon Quest V)
Y NO DULMAGUS SQUINIX
I need this game in my veins.

Did they show if バラモス Baramos is going to be in the game or not? Would not be the same without kicking his ass at least once lol

I just managed to defeat Baramos in DQ3. He was a toughie!
As a side note, DQX looks so awesome.
That video is making me laugh a lot. That's one bizarre mechanic. Can you do that the whole game? I would have thought there was a hate system in place like FFXI/other MMOS.
I think its you over estimating things really. Which is a HUGE problem most of the time when its folks on the outside looking in. People always assume that just because something is a big name title that suddenly everyone is going to jump on board which always is not the case. Several examples is always the usual due to X big title coming out "Y PLATFORM IS SAVED!" type of comments. Gaming here in general is going backwards as people have smartphones to pay attention to. Folks think way way too much in terms that the Japanese market is the same as the West which it is not. In the West things are still progressing forward with the consoles regardless of the Smartphone penetration. As for the handheld consoles, well they are doing what they usually do in the West. Does not help too that they do not get the same exposure / treatment as they do in Japan though.
The market here does not care about the PS4 just yet. Just because a single game comes out on the system only the core users are really going to be the ones who go out of their way to pick up a PS4 for a single title.
General numbers these days should give you all the information you need already as is. Only thing that really does large numbers these days are stuff that have kids behind it such as Youkai Watch, Pokemon then things like Monster Hunter and the mainline Dragon Quest games. The only other DQ spinoff titles that broke a million was the DQ Monster I & II series that was on the DS.
Far more sales will be made from them having it on both platforms for now rather than what you had suggested with having them only done it on the PS4. This is to pave the way to get people to move over to the PS4 once people start to see comparison videos between the two or hear from others.
Am sure that it will sell decent though will be interesting to see what kind of spread with the 2 versions. At least for the most part Square Enix seems to have been doing a decent job promoting the title and know a lot of the stores are too as its something that reaches a wider audience than a title like Bloodborne, The Order, etc. How good the game is and how much content is available will be what determines the kind of legs the title has. First day sales most def would be high, but would be surprised if it breaks a million during the initial week. My guess would be it hits something along the lines of One Piece Musou so around 500-600k. Though that would be like a total number sort of deal rather than just on a singular platform. Most def the current PS4 owners will be picking it up as they really do need something else to play.
I don't know! I guess we'll see in a few weeks how it fares.
And I guess it's also moot to argue "What If" scenarios on the console release. At the very least, I think it'd be interesting to see how many more PS4's it would sell if the PS4 version came out a few weeks prior to the PS3 version too. Kind of like when Twilight Princess got released on Wii launch prior to GameCube. I know a lot more Wii's got pushed out the door from rabid fans who refused to wait to play a potentially inferior version on a last gen system. But, I'm comparing the West again on that. I don't think Japan had a delayed release on it if I recall.
My friends and I always made fun of DQX calling it the "sumo game" since there is no real hate system you need to rely on the "tanks" to keep the enemy away from the casters and such by pushing them back or keeping them in place as you see in the video. There is a weight system in the title which determines if you can push, stop or be pushed. There is a buff that causes a friendly character to become heavier. The spell was called ヘヴィーチャージ Heavy Charge you can see it being cast around 1:40 those black swirling spheres that drop to the ground.
Its one of the problems with the early AI was that they did not really make use of that system if I remember correctly, that caused it to be harder to beat certain bosses with just AI alone. Not sure if thats been addressed or not
LoL! That looks hilarious and completely ridiculous. The Tank is doing more pushing than actual fighting, and the casting classes are having to help him do some of the pushing which makes it worse.
