New Driveclub gameplay

I played a Norway track over the weekend and as a result I can safely say I have no qualms with this being a day one purchase. All those comparisons to PGR are totally justified. The game is easy to pick up and play but with enough scope to hone your skills, shave time off your laps and keep competition high. Pulling off a powerslide won't give anyone too much trouble, but push it too far and you'll ne punished by spinning off, particularly when you stray to the icy parts of the track.

As long as the structure is there to back up the visuals and the handling, this is gonna be immense. Can't wait.

Where did you play this?

I love the graphics and presentation of this game no doubt.

There are some things that im worried about:

- Comparing it to horizon 2 the handling seems just a little bit too arcadey for my taste.
Im judging only based of videos tho, so I have to try it myself to get a proper opinion about it.
For everyone who tried both, whats your opinion about that?

- Collision detection seems like a bad joke.
Cars are bouncing of each other like a superball.

- The tire squeal is absolutelly excessive and highly annoying in that game.
GT had the same shit going on.
Forza gets it right btw, so I hope it will be adjusted for the final version.

Also not directly regards the game:

I've never played any racing game with the DS4 but I'm not sure if I will have fun using that spongy Triggers. Still got hope for a third Party Controller that gets that right.

I need an adult.

Yup. I had the exact same feeling when I played it at Fan expo. The handling is so fkin good. They just nailed the balance between pick up and play while giving room to improve your skills. Driving in the snow was superb.

Can you sign up to a US account and get a 14 day PS+ trial? I figure it will tide us UK folk over until the Friday.

Yep. That's my plan, unless they're going to ask for a U.S. credit card number.

Edit - just looked at my US account and while the 14 day trial is advertised, there's no way I can see of selecting it.

Are you sure you weren't playing The Crew?

Was image quality on par to some of the direct feed videos of the game in this thread? I'm haveing a hard time believing the game looks that good. But then again EGX could have been presenting an old build. Your thoughts?

If I had to criticise, on the Norway track, there was some shimmering on the ice patches on the road surface. I'm not certain if it was an aliasing issue, or just some over zealous reflection routines. But from what I saw of the other tracks, the IQ was exceptional.

Hahaha! Man, I hope you try to pull this shit in the review or OT threads.

From my understanding it was the gamescom build, so it's a few months old.

I'm concerned with your post history. You seem to lie whenever you think it may impress the fanboys. You bought a Xb1 for FH2!?

But wait you already said you had a XB1 months earlier!

But your concern for DC is touching and I'm sure genuine.

I was lucky to play the shit out of this at e3, and noticed recently some were concerned about the AI. It was tough what I played, but fair, that obviously isn't a great representation of the final game.

That all being said, my friend and I got to talk with Rushy for a while and while I had no qualms about Motorstorms AI during our talks, my friend despised it for that reason. Rushy assured him that They've got the feedback over the years about the AI in motorstorm and says it won't be like that at all.

how is the driving being arcadey a negative?

I think he was talking about the way the cars handle/physics.

and doesn't that kind of fly out of the window when you're driving supercars across fields? What is the reference physics for that, other than immediately getting beached or digging the front splitter into the dirt?

Personally, it feels damn arcade-like to me. I'm not using simulation settings because it doesn't seem the kind of game to benefit from that, but the cars slide all over the place. Especially off road, you're carving huge powerslides through fields that are fantastic fun but also ridiculous.

For those wondering the steelbook edition is available for pre-order on shopto. I couldn't find the game browsing on their site on pc (tried chrome and firefox) only on my android phone. Probably it wasn't implemented yet.

For some people that can definitely be a negative. People have a right to their opinion. Didn't see much wrong at all about his post despite the reactions to it so far. Does he have a history of it?

Read AgentP's post.

Roxa based on existing posts has stated to have bought a XB1 months ago

Yet Roxa has a contradictory statement that he's going to pick up an XB1 for FH2.

Now unless Roxa bought two XB1's it would explain it however if you dwell abit further on some of the statements Roxa said on various FH2 threads would imply that at the time he didn't own either a XB1 or FH2 to make his comparison.

Then there is this post here - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=129496676&postcount=34 which is apparently before he owned an XB1. How do you claim the FH2 being a smooth game without owning the console to play it? Unless he played it at a friends house but all things considered, it's unlikely.

Basically a bunch of inconsistent information that simply doesn't add up.

Edit : And now he's banned. Disregard this post. Sorry. Didn't intend to go off topic.

If what I was told is to be believed, the IQ in this game is even better than on inFamous. So that footage is probably real. We'll all know in 7 days. I can't wait!

I'm still not really sure what concern trolling is. Obviously that specific post seemed a little extreme, given every counter-point was highlighting an XBO positive, but someone could hold that opinion for real.

I agree with this, seems a little overkill to ban for that for sure, just my opinion.

Any word of what the soundtrack will be like, aside from "HOW FAST DO YOU WANNA GO"?

"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Original)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Tiesto Remix)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Hackman Remix)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Kanye West Remix)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Phones RIP Remix)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (RAC Remix)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Skrillex Remix)
"How Fast Do You Wanna Go" (Instrumental)

So best to get shot then before anymore thread wrecking shenanigans take place.

See if you held that opinion no one will mention anything because you are known to be objective and neutral. Some folks are unfortunately not like that.

Anyways does anyone have any video showcasing the dashboard view cam? Last I saw of that was in a Canadian track but it is disappointing that no one seems to be choosing that view while driving.

With what? Forza? Would be a pointless shitstorm.

I thought it could be a general "Next Gen Racing Comparison and Discussions Thread" for Forza, Driveclub and Project CARs.

But yeah...probably a pointless shitstorm. Would just be nice if it funnelled the shit out of the main threads for those games :P

An example of concern trolling would be something like, "Man, this game has amazing graphics, but I am really worried about the AI, and the lack of cars. Forza has four times as many vehicles and better physics too, from what I've heard. I hope Driveclub reviews well, but I don't think it will." That's probably a pretty poor example, but it's early for me and I can think of anything else at the moment. These people will pretend to be fans even though they have no intention of buying it and may actually be ravenous fans of a competing series.

tl;dr Concern trolling is just a passive-aggressive form of that particular tactic, employed by people that want to talk shit without getting banned. It's an effective tactic, since you need to check their post history for inconsistencies and an agenda. The guy that just got banned did contradict himself in previous posts, which is probably what led to his dismissal.

The game really is amazing, i still think its arguably the best looking game ever, its certainly up there.

Has there been any good direct capture footage yet, i mean proper high bitrate direct footage.
