Lost Bay

"Arriving at the pier in 'Lost Bay,' visitors may be more than a little perturbed to find it quite devoid of life, and perhaps colder and perhaps 'bleaker' than expected. While the lack of facilities may put some off, the ruined boathouse and, further up the path, the statue commemorating the Battle of Red Tides are quite... picturesque... and evoke a& rustic, rural charm.

"Twin paths wind into the hills (one beautifully crafted stairway, and one... 'overgrown track'... I must find a positive spin to put on that later) past a local teleport, and eventually through the arched rocky canopy leading to the Northern Foothills.

"As a side note, travellers are advised to give our local wildlife a wide berth. The great Ice Trolls inhabiting this particular area are prone to excessive mindless violence at the slightest provocation. Please note that the NWRTB is not responsible for loss of personal possessions, maiming or fatal injuries."

"As the intrepid explorer enters the Northern Foothills and crosses the bridge over the frozen river Ede, he is offered the first hints of the great historical significance of this area. Snow-topped arches and broken columns claw high into the sky, evoking a timeless peace and tranquillity broken only by the sound of armoured Minions patrolling their routes searching for new victims. Travellers wishing to engage in a little rigorous exercise may wish to flee up the ruined stairwell into the Necropolis, or run off the main path and jog lightly past the undead Ice Hordes (they're slower moving), through the stony arch and into Archon's Shrine region."

"Passing the local teleport, travellers will witness the full spectacle of our glorious local ruins reflected in the area's characteristic frozen pools before the path turns to reveal the spectacular silhouette of the Archon's Shrine itself.

"The Shrine is a must-see for any visitor to our shores. This majestic dome-like construction dates back to the original Archon's reign. The dome features several intriguing carvings on the interior and provides unparalleled views of both the Snowspire village entrance and the great royal pass down to the Archon's Folly doors. This doorway is, unfortunately, sealed quite tightly and, despite the efforts of our greatest Will users, looks like it may remain so for some time. Visitors are free to take pictures of the portal, or to buy a so-called 'postcard' from one a vendor in this area once we have found traders to replace the casualties from the most recent Minion incursions. Hmmm& must check how the Board is doing with that, actually.

Having never played Fable before I must say those screens are really disgusting. I hope they ramp up the polycounts and textures for the final release and add some details to this barren landscapes. If they want my money that is.

These shots look much better than what I was expecting. It is nice to see the devs doing something more than just a quick and messy port. :)

I just finished the game this evening and I must say it was nowhere near as bad as it was portrayed. Still, it didn't come close to matching the hype either. Are they changing anything in the games engine for this (upgrade?) or just adding new content and updating graphics?

Whatever they do, I hope they include a better ending :lol

Kind of sad what they consider lost chapters. Those were parts of the game they were originally going to be DLC, that was till MS got a wonderful bright idea. Go watch G4's making of Fable and you'll see some of the stuff that they cut out at the last minute for the pc version.

The game rocks.

If they release this on Xbox id get it, but id rather they concentrate all their efforts on Xbox 360 sequel

I think it's worth $20, no more than that though.

Hopefully this gets released on the Xbox ala Morrowind GotY Edition, as a platinum hit.

It's a pity that the things they cut from Fable that everyone really wanted won't be in this (the whole aging thing, other heroes actually competing, etc). Still, if those rumours of an Xbox port are true and it's cheap I'll pick it up.

I didn't like Fable, forget the gap between what it promised and what it delivered, what it delivered wasn't compelling in and of itself.

Extremely linear hack and slash, horrible interactions with dumb dumb NPC villagers (almost as bad as Morrowind, *almost*), and a main character with an expression that makes him look either mildly retarded or like a goat chewing cud (depending on if you have horns or not from being evil). WHY DOESN'T HE STOP OPENING AND CLOSING HIS MOUTH?

Also worst merchant system ever, and not very many different monsters to fight.

Bah, I hated Fable.

I drove 7 hours (14 if you count the return) to get the game 2 days before release (thanks Mom and Pop shop...) and I finished it in less time than that round trip took. I never even came close to death because you get about two thousand potions on each screen, and I probably came close to wearing out the attack button on my controller.

Hack and slash + insultingly easy + short time + nixed features = piss poor game.

I don't have much hope for the PC version, but who knows...

I'm suprised by all the negative comments towards those screens. I think that Ice monster looks pretty sweet. All the screens look decent enough to me.

A few more paths added to the tiny world, a few more easy enemies to fight. I don't think Xbox owners will be missing much (assuming it's PC-only).

Misleading game title!

"Fable: Stuff we Cut from the Xbox Version"
"Fable: Still Not the Game We Originally Promised"
"Fable: The Quest to Recoup our Losses"

Ah, the jokes nearly write themselves...

If i could just talk to the one or two people in this thread who didnt just come here to pretend they played the game...

Do we know who is developing this? The PR says Lionhead, not BBB (i know BBB is part of lionhead, thats why im asking). I know lionhead moved a lot of people into BBB to bug fix & optimise, maybe those guys are making this...? BBB already working on Fable 2?

Most of Fable doesn't look as barren as those screens. Although that looks pretty much like the Xbox version; it doesn't look like they're doing much to enhance it for PC.

It was a decent game worth $20 or so. Frankly, I wonder if half the people slamming the game even played it.

Fable was great stuff, I'd buy it again at $50. It and Jade Empire make a very nice RPG duo for the XBox.

Oh I played the game, I even finished the damn Lady Grey quest, that and the tiny cutscene that played when you first got back to your village after getting out of the hero guild were the only bits of interesting villager NPC interaction in the whole game.

It looks great for an XBOX game. Trick me once Moneulicker...........

LH actually has a bunch of great guys working for them it's just that idiot management.

Most of Fable looks a lot superior to the above screens of the lost content. It is a VERY lush game in terms of foliage and enviromental detail.

Borys not all PC games look like that however :)

Yeah I know but I'm comparing a late 2005 RPG with a late 2005 RPG.

Seems fair.

Looking at those screens guess which one I'll buy?
