"Welcome to the next level"
Looks more like Golden Axe than Beast Rider ever did, so that makes me happy. Even if it isn't 2D. I'm just hoping for the best.Shinobi Looks Awesome.
They Butchered Streets of Rage and Golden Axe.
Golden Axe is the number one Franchise I wanted them to come back with its just if they where gonna go 3d i wished they would have stuck more with the original art style. This looks overly stylized.Looks more like Golden Axe than Beast Rider ever did, so that makes me happy. Even if it isn't 2D. I'm just hoping for the best.
That being said, I remember when the Castle Crashers craze was going on, I was hoping we'd see more 2D beat 'em ups, and was shocked we didn't. That would've been the best time to bring Golden Axe back IMO, and they just never did. It's shocking to me. It's still not too late, but I don't know if we'll ever see that.
You and I both, haha. I've wanted a 2D return for Golden Axe and Splatterhouse (I know not a Sega title, but just the only thing that I've wanted just as bad, lol) for decades. Both I think will never happen. But man, I'd love it if they did.Golden Axe is the number one Franchise I wanted them to come back with its just if they where gonna go 3d i wished they would have stuck more with the original art style. yep. Id also kill for a Golden Axe in 3D if it where up to Return of the King (2003) quality. You and I both, haha. But honestly I'd just want new good and decent games, and I'd be happy with it. But I'd love for them to be great. Even if they remotely look like the originals in any way.
Okay here you go.
With this action by SEGA towards video gamers, I am empathetic with the company and with this decision... I will commit to buying, at a day one price, those games it has announced.Yup, there we go - that was the one I thought it was. Sega really wants to keep their old-school fans happy.
Yes it was. They build a bunch of hype over this and barely delivered. Sega really needs to listen to their fanbase. That's where there's money and sounds more like they're still beating to their own drum.Golden Axe being 3d was the biggest kick in the nuts.
It's a little bit of an odd time to launch a new SoR because 4 was so recent and so good.I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed to see SoR in 3D. A 3D title isn't going to be nearly as good as 4, Fighting Force isn't exactly an all-time great. But we shall see.
The rest I have less opinions of, except that some of them aren't what I would expect. Shinobi looks like N++.
I really like the 3D one they went with and like the style of it. I loved the 2D beat Em ups in the past, but I find them awkward now with the perspective. If Sifu is considered a 3D Beat Em Up, I would love more of that.Golden Axe is the number one Franchise I wanted them to come back with its just if they where gonna go 3d i wished they would have stuck more with the original art style. I'm 100% down for a new crazy taxi. (And remasters of the old ones too)
Where is power stone?
I wouldn't go that far, but it's clear they were made with the Switch in mind. These are low budget indie games, guys.
This is what I don't get. SOR already has a new era and a new energy, and it is a very good one. Right now it they're acting as if the previous 3D prototypes weren't abandoned for good reason. It's a little bit of an odd time to launch a new SoR because 4 was so recent and so good.
Let's be honest, what does SEGA expect by publishing these indies? Why do Capcom games attract attention? Square? Rockstar? higher budget games man, low budget games don't stand out, they don't impress, they don't seduce anyone. These franchises deserved more attention, after all we cannot be hypocrites Crazy Taxi was the first game to portray a believable city at 480p60fps. Jet Set Radio was a pioneer in cel shading technology. This new game isn't even cel shading, but if it is, it's of low quality and doesn't have a visual signature like JSRF had. Shinobi 3 and Shinobi X were 2D AAA games. 2002 Shinobi was a simple game with Dreamcast DNA however NightShade was an authentic Playstation 2 game in geometry, lighting effects and transparency.Looked and felt like a indie montage.
There is a space harrier spiritual successor coming on steam.I'm not worries about the 3D games. If it was like Zombie Revenge quality I'm game.
I want a new Space Harrier with different power ups, a Panzer Dragoon style special attack gauge and a melee button to repel projectiles back at enemies.
Worth mentioning that Sega had nothing to do with SoR4. Like they didn't even produce it or job it out. Sega was just letting anyone who showed up license the properties they weren't using for a while. And a couple of those turned out to be hits and they're probably feeling like they missed out. This is what I don't get. SOR already has a new era and a new energy, and it is a very good one. If they are aiming for the Switch market and they think 3D will have broader appeal, I think they're in for a wake up call when it performs worse than 4 because they moved away from what the fans of the series like.

According to Bloomberg sources, Sega is considering a "Fortnite-style" service model for both titles, offering the two high-speed arcade titles as free-to-play games and filling them with crossover content, microtransactions, an emphasis on multiplayer, temporary events and, presumably, the possible inclusion of blockchain/NFT elements.
No!! SEGA Dont do it!!

They won't listen to you here. go now to the Bloomberg website, contact them and tell them that we, Sega fans, will boycott the company's products, so that they immediately give up on this crazy idea that could harm the franchises. No!! SEGA Dont do it!!
GTV Japan made a good case for why PS5 shouldn't be done in a recent PS4 retrospective.Galaxy Force III, come on, Sega.
Also: Phantasy Star V. But I can understand if they're apprehensive about that because Rieko Kodama is no longer with us...

TLDR: It's been 30 years and it's a finished story arc. Unlike Final Fantasy where a sequel is just +1 and similar elements.
As long as Axel isn't a lardass hobo again I'll be happy.Ppl complaining about a 3D Streets of Rage ... we just had a successful & awesome 2D entry now let's see what they can do with 3D !
There are tons of 2D brawlers out there , we want to see the genre evolve a little bit
