New GTA V Trailers "MICHAEL. FRANKLIN. TREVOR."

They running this on PC right? Or pre rendered video? Really love the lack of jaggies and color gamout. They got really good facial animation way better then LA Nior

What are you guys going to do when you first boot up the game?? After the inevitable escort ai companion to his safehouse mission, I may just go on a rampage blowing up running over people and ramming cars. I could probably play GTA V for a month just bullshitting around before ever touching a mission. I knew people that NEVER did missions in GTA.

I will go on a nice long drive around the city and soak up the atmosphere and try out the various cars and see some random events in action ( while keeping an eye out for any animals)

Also drive out to the desert area.

Probably just ride around and check out the city, as usual. Will go from there and take it as I find it.

I usually use the first missions to help me become acclimated to the the world. After that I take a break and explore. I don't usually go on rampages, as in San Andreas and IV I felt that they weren't in line with the characters.

you got me there. let's just say i'll be very, very surprised if it doesn't.
Fair enough.

It could end up being a bunch of copy and paste GTA IV expansion-esque missions for all I know, but I honestly don't think R* will do that.

I know many people on GAF dislike them, but they seem like a passionate company to me that puts everything into their work. I think they're going to try as hard as possible to live up to the "radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe" statement that Sam Houser made back when they revealed GTA V.

I find it boring, and I'm entitled to have an opinion without being labeled racist.
The other two trailers were much more entertaining imo.

Lol relax man, I never called anyone racist. I just never would have thought strip clubs were cliche, so that's what made me think well maybe he means black men in strip clubs.

Just walk around the city for a bit. Then get a car and drive around and listen to the radio.

I wonder if the whole map will be available from the beginning this time? I used to be against that, as I like unlocking stuff. But now, I think I'd prefer just to have the whole thing open from the beginning. I'm getting the feeling that San Andreas won't be a few islands so I'd bet it's all open from the start.

I don't see current gen consoles running the game this smoothly.

I agree. The trailers are very clearly showing some great animation, effects, draw distance and all running at a good clip. I think next gen console versions of this are only a matter of time. For reference youtube GTA IV console footage to see how much of a massive step up this is.

Trailers are so good. Really liking the vibe of each one. I just want some proper gameplay stuff now like Red Dead Redemption showing some of the features.

Looks interesting and the facial animation looks great but I would rather see some gameplay. And I would also like to see what the framerate looks like.

Game looks great, all three character storylines interest me. I'm really looking forward to how they intertwine and climax into a bangin' finale... That is, if I end up finishing the game, for once.

Yes, I've never finished a GTA game before. They get repetitive and (imo) are too long for their own good. Focused, tight character arcs with fun missions that aren't simple copy/paste jobs is all I want out of this game. Hopefully it delivers.

EDIT: Hadn't read you could swap between the three of 'em "on the fly". Meh.

Lol I think some of you guys claiming you'll just take a "ride through the city" you mean riding like this.

Really seems like R* is going for a more comedic action/twisted buddy comedy approach which is something that this series not necessarily needed, but is a really sweet change of pace.

Has it been said how we play as these three characters? Like is it three separate campaigns or do we get to simply pick a character as we play one huge campaign?
All three have solo missions unique to them, but there's also a central story that all three will be involved in together (most notably the series of heist missions).

On missions with multiple characters present you'll be able to switch between them on the fly. Same goes for when you're just fooling around inbetween missions, you'll be able to switch around freely.

IT is, they said that with the three characters thing they felt it was a better choice.

Also most people didn't even get to Mexico in RDR, so it's a smart decision.

Worthless reply? Why yes.

The characters look like theyre made out of plastic with dead eyes. Id expect more from a game with a huge budget.

On 7 year old systems AND the game has A LOT more stuff gonig on that will make it hard to focus and make something the best, currently the animations and facial animations are pretty good and better than most current games to me.

They look good.
Of course if you think a "huge budget" can overcome console's technical limitations, that's another issue.
You can't overcome physics by throwing money at it.

You switch character in real time, with the press of a button (a radial menu).

I think you can switch between them on the fly

Excellent! Cheers fellas.

Sweet.

Game just looks amazing. I've watched the trailers a few times now each. So hyped.

definitely, Trevor could have even been a woman and kept the same craziness to the character.

But then he'd lose that awesome Walton Goggins quality he has going for him.

My problem with GTAIV is how it took out from San Andreas and how bland the city was after having such a rich diversity in SA. The excuse I thought to myself was "new engine, new rules, new problems for the programmers". I don't see how R* wont rectify that with GTA V.

If anything, I'm disappointed with the modern setting and lack of snow. I wonder if they are afraid to go back to the 90's or 80's. I'd love realistic weather-- winter, snowstorms, rainstorms... The vibe in San Andreas and Vice City was stunning. Imagine playing that with occulus rift.

I didn't get that with GTA IV or 3. I hate the urban domination of both those games. GTA seems amazing with the right theme. The way the world comes to life in VC and SA is the pinnacle.

Hoping GTA V's diversity and comparted themes end up surpassing what they had. I love how it can possibly have something for everyone.

I thought the series had always taken this approach before 4 fucked it all up?

Maybe Im mistaken, but I always thought III and Vice City had a more serious tone to them as well. Vice City certainly had its moments though, and San Andreas was definitely pretty wacky.

IV was way too dark and serious for me though. I could only take so much before I was really yearning for some lightheartedness and crazy antics.

Michael's trailer is incredible. They are all great but something about how that character is stuck in between wanting more and craving his old life just clicks with me.

Love it.
