Let the bitching commence (belongs on a fresh page)

Im impressed by all of them but that last pic that waterfall isnt looking so hot.

I have come to realize that this games true merits happen with the animation when they showed the teaser on Heroes it was litterally one of the best looking things I have ever seen. So knowing thats what the game already looks like Im not worried just curious why the devs would release these shots.

I don't like how there is guard rail preventing you from swimming in the lake. In'visible' walls am confirmed

she can cut a hundred men at once but a wooden fence she shall never humble....games need to drop that shit. Nex gen explorable environments please.

Game looks ace though

D_B most games with some water in it doesn't let you just dive in a take a dip. :lol

Come on seriously people you really just want to get horny and look at her body as she gets out of the water with that small white top on.

nah I just think an explorable environment adds to immersiveness of the game...I hope they are not copying the formula of films such as House of Flying Dagger...that film felt like a game...a very bad game (linear as hell)

I mean it would be nice to just swim and do whatever but I'm surprised you guys actually expected this.

This game really needs some AF. :\

I'd much prefer AF over AA...but I know a lot of work went into the achievement of AA with HDR.

It's not that I want to swin in that it's just that apparent invisible wall(does that even make sense?) sucks. :(

Well I mean if you want to see lakes and other good scenery then sometimes this will happen. I try to remind myself that it's still just a game.

Nostormo said there is 8x AF in the game.

The odd thing is that I could have sworn I saw some developer quotes regarding AF in fact being in the game. Maybe it's not implemented in this build.

What does AF do? Does it make a big difference?

no it just extends the texture sharpness so that the ground 10 meters in front of you don't look like it belongs to a n64 game.

It is very overhyped, probably the most overhyped effect ever!! It is not noticeable when you are playing the game

Yeah, way to prove your point :lol

AF is one of the most damn important things to make the image quality look 'next gen'!

It makes a big difference for me, but that's likely because it's something I've taken for granted in PC games and that has typically been absent in "next-gen" games so far. It also depends on the game environments; if you're playing in an area with cobble stone surfaces, it becomes pretty apparent as the detailed cobble stone surface becomes a blur only meters away from the player position. With a decent level of AF, the detail would extend further.

AF is selectively applied in HS, IIRC. It's not applied globally to all textures, it is artist-controlled I think. The ground in that first shot probably would have been a good candidate.

Hopefully most of the SCEE lay-off will hit the pic grabber department. They almost put the same effort to make it look bad Blimblim put in his "bitching" PDZ screens back then :P

It is in the game. 8x of it. And it looks great. Not sure where it went to though.

It's really hard for me to say "it looks good", I really shouldn't watch those Lair GT videos.

Don't worry. When we see the Heavenly Sword videos we will probably say wow again.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna wait for some updated video on this. Though, the hair looks way improved imo. Can't wait to see the game in motion.

Damn you're right. The hair does look much better. Hell much, much, much better imo. I approve of the change.

Light is shining on the bottom part of the waterfall. It looks odd in a screen shot but when it's moving the shadow part and light don't look odd I'm sure. Think about it.

Yeah there are definitely way less segments in the strands.

I wonder when we will get video.

Its hard to believe the rest of Sony's 2007 1st party lineup.

- Uncharted
- Lair
- Heavenly Sword
- Ratchet and Clank
- Killzone 2 (maybe)
- WarHawk
- Little Big Planet
- Home
- SingStar

Too bad it's missing or nearly missing in most next-gen games though. :)

I say AA over AF.

BTW HS has 8x AF where it matters.. not applied everywhere they want it yet I assume.

I hope that waterfall will look great in motion. I am sure it does.

Well looking at the Lair footage that smacked us in the face 3 months before release we may be looking at the same timeframe before Heavenly Sword.

If HS comes out in September then maybe June?

Yeah they don't do it like a PC game >_<
