New Hellboy Movie Coming

Part of me can't reconcile Hellboy NOT being Ron Perlman but I think David Harbour could be a pretty solid second choice.

I don't know what I'd want from a 'reboot' though. I'm not really looking for Hellboy to be REALLY comic accurate and I think GDT's movies did a pretty decent job with the tone and some of the folklore stuff for a Hollywood movie.

This doesn't make sense. How the hell was Del Toro not able to get Hellboy 3 made but this is apparently getting green lit?

Maybe they see value in the property but don't see value in a third outing with Del Toro/Perlman? It's not like the first two movies were hits.

Perlman and Del Toro have been fighting for a new movie tooth and nail only to get squashed, and they pull this?
Del Toro and Perlman can do R

As much as I thought GDT's sheer enthusiasm for the character was always a boon, I think Neil Marshall could to the property justice and put his own spin on it that people are bound to like. I haven't seen Stranger Things and couldn't tell you about David Harbour, but I will say he's got some big shoes to fill since it's really hard not to read a panel of the comic without hearing Ron Perlman's voice in your head.

So I guess that's why Del Toro got a hard no for Hellboy 3 a few weeks ago... gears must have been turning for this one.

We'll see how it goes.

R rated Neil Marshall directed? Hell yeah. Less of the campy shit from the GDT movies and more the gothic horror in the comics plz.

I will even say that I can handle no Del Toro but Perlman to me was Hellboy.
Agreed that Hellboy has been around alot longer.
Agreed that Del Toro really did not get the material and did his own thing.
So there is potential....but...Perlman...c'mon

Don't really see why it's R rated, strange choice.

I don't think Neil Marshall can direct anything that isn't super bloody. That being said, I can't imagine that he's going to suddenly Hellboy into a grimdark version of himself, so I imagine it's not much more than pushing the violence a little bit further than it usually goes and maybe making the more cosmic horror elements that crop up a little more outwardly horrific.

Wasn't Del Toro like JUST fighting to get support for a third movie he's been wanting to make?

That's the weirdest part of this to me...like I don't see how Neil Marshall OR an R rating make this more bankable. I think it sounds dope but if it's true then someone did Del Toro dirty...

DIDN'T WE JUST GET DONE WATCHING HELLBOY 3 GET SHOT DOWN FOR GOOD

WHAT IS THIS MADNESS

Seriously, what's a word stronger than tomfoolery but more polite than shitfuckery, because I can't find out how to describe this

It might be safe to assume that they wanted something with a smaller budget, which Marshall is a lot more comfortable with than Del Toro would be these days.

Yeah, just thought of that lol. Trying to appeal to an even more niche audience.

I won't be too upset as long as we get a more faithful depiction of the Project Ragna Rok crew. Kronen in the movie was pretty awesome, but I like his comic version even more.

To each their own, but I feel like a lot of people immediately writing this off didn't even bother seeing who was involved, haha.

Del Toro is not the only one who can make a good Hellboy movie. Hell, any other director being involved increases the odds of the film actually coming out tenfold.
