New Horizon: Zero Dawn Gameplay from the TGS 2016 Media Session

Uncharted 4 wins in the masterly crafted attention to detail and super polish in the graphics department on PS4.
Horizon Zero Dawn wins in the mass visuals graphical prowess they made such a technical feat with this open world game super impressing they can make the OG PS4 handle all this high fidelity at 1080p? Damn Guerrilla does not get enough credit

They could very well get the credit they deserve if this game reviews well. I hope REALLY bad it does.

This game looks wonderful so far. Good to see towns and such are in. Interesting NPCs so far, I like that first lady's robot armor plate. Nice touch.

Edit: Dude this game (still watching and saw some of the gifs here). That destroyed machine outside the village looked so good and nicely mangled. The gif of her walking in the canyons makes me wonder how big the world really is, and I'm liking it all a lot. Oh boy!

Me too. This gen with rising production costs and complexity has been rough on AAA development. It would be really nice to see a new AAA IP succeed to the point it merits a franchise, particularly one as colorful and original as this.

Yes but only up mountain specifically marked as climbable. I reckon VanWinkle is right that those snowy mountains surrounding the valley will be off limits, save for the obvious paths though them. That said we still don't know what the rest of the map looks like. It could just be the valley that's enclosed like that (since it's the tutorial level).

I just uploaded a second gameplay video, and quite a good looking one at that too (still off screen of course). Enjoy :)

Wow...

This area is just so beautiful!

And that lighting. With the HDR is going to be mind blowing.

Ummm.. I doubt that since Zelda Breath of the Wild's demonstration was just free roaming for the most part and people had an absolute blast and were excited just on that alone.

I love how you come into every Horizon thread to talk about..........Zelda.

I'm 100% sure they said every single area shown in every trailer can be accessed, including the mountains.

Well yeah, there will be snowy mountains you can explore, I'm just not sure they're the same ones we see on the map directly surrounding the valley.

How else is a developer going to intuitively show what can be climbed and what cannot?
Why Zelda style of course being able to climb every single thing no matter if it's a flat surface with nothing to grip onto making it look like you jave suction cups on your hands and feet is alot better than some white on a rock showing you were to go..

Like his precious Zelda fantasy climbing...
I noticed it's mostly Zelda fans in alot of Horizon threads trying to downplay this game maybe because they see it as a Zelda competitor in the open world aspect?

Man this game looks incredible and I haven't been excited for a new IP in a long time. I'm almost upset both Persona 5 and Horizon are releasing in Feb. as managing both will really suck.

Wow.

It's been a while I've been this hyped about a game. I hope the gameplay feels as good as it looks.

Character interactions are weak af. VO and expressions both seem off.

Facial expressions are perhaps a little stiff (if you're gonna compare them to the godly smooth work of ND) but probably pretty realistic, would have been cool if they could have gotten in some ND animators in there for a bit to touch up the talking animations since the designs are fantastic, but the voice acting of the interactions themselves seem perfectly fine to me. And there's probably a lot more of them given this is an RPG.

Foliage is easily one of my favorite visual improvements of this gen. I LOVE IT. This game and UC4 have been the latest ones to blow me away but there have been many.

Edit: HOLY CRAP, just started watching blim's video (been waiting for the 1080p stream to process) and the foliage..I mean...it's unbelievable. SO MUCH GRASS.

Hopefully this gif shows up. Still don't really know a good place to upload gifs.

Yeah, it's glorious. So much movement in one screen. There's a similarly fantastic gif shot of The Last Guardian.

There are roads around those mountains and inside them as well.

The scale of this game is just jaw-dropping, I love it!

The main unknown where it could falter with reviews is story (who knows how this will be, hopefully lives up to promise) and depth of RPG systems and NPC interaction.

I think it will be fine either way really.

A unique world, with unique enemies that is apparently fun to play ,I am really looking forward to this.

I wonder if this game is more an rpg where you can grind your character level/weapon stat to the point you can easily kill even big robots, or if it's more like action game where if you're really skillfull, you can beat the game without levelling up/upgrading your equipment.

Also, can you obtain all the character skill upgrade by the end of game, or there are cap limit of how many skill you can unlock, so you reallly have to carefully consoder what playstle you want to focus.

Somehow my gut feeling is that it will be more action game where the player action skill matter more than an rpg where Alloy stats will matter more. I also have a feeling you can unlock most of the skill tree by the end of game instead of needing to pick a specialization. Just my gut feeling. I think GG approach to combat is to give you plenty of tools to experiment and choose your strategy in battle. A level cap will limit your options so I don't think gg will do that.

This is the one thing I'm worried about as far as how the game will be received. When it was first announced Guerrilla talked about Horizon sitting on a scale somewhere between an action game and an RPG and that seems pretty accurate from what I've seen. But lately it feels like people might be getting a little carried away with their expectations for the RPG aspect. I'm not denying that it qualifies as a RPG, just expect something closer to a Farcry game with RPG features instead of the Witcher 3 with great combat.
